This crapfest actually made 1 mil less than adjusted projections: 25 and a half

Hypothetically, if you were Fox and you were in active negotiations with Marvel, would you leak to your reporter contacts:

a. "Good lord that was a disaster. We just want to dump this property and move on."

OR

b. "We are still very focused and determined to make a sequel."

Fox is dumb, but even I don't believe they're seriously dumb enough to be planning a sequel after this absolute mess.

FOX is going to pull a Cameron and film three FFINO sequels at the same time. Good luck negotiating with insane people, Marvel. Yeeeeaaahhh!

They couldn't have scrapped it anyway, since the rights would have expired

I wonder though how it screened so horribly as any kind of movie when Chronicle was well received, and Trank was essentially just remaking his first film but calling it FFINO.

Well, why has Blomkamp made two duds after an acclaimed debut? Sometimes the collaborating/overseeing partners are much more integral to the overall product than are thought of.

I've learned to never under-estimate the bad decisions due to stubbornness. Fox is deciding if they should just keep MS from making a successful FF as opposed to again risking making a failed one. Well see how they do. Fox IMO seems to just like to hold on to things sometimes

Argh...The thought they might still try again...:cmad:

To the tune of 'Let it Be':

When you find your franchise lies in ruins
The truth is there for all to see
Simple words of wisdom
Let it be.

And in that hour of darkness
The time has come to set them free
Its such a damn no brainer
Let it be.

And when the broken-hearted people
Seeing this film all agree
There is a simple answer
Let it be.

For though you may be parted
There is still a chance that they will see
Fantastic four be done right
Let it be.

Let it be, let it be
Let it be, let it be
For Gods sake Fox please listen...

let it be.

Damn. His bit in that article about Fox's insistence with continuing this dead franchise really bummed me out.

Everything I've heard would indicate that the studio will move forward with a "Fantastic Four" sequel. It may not make that original 2017 date, but they're definitely planning to make it. The next filmmaker in is going to start from a difficult position, and they're going to have to work hard to create their own movie while starting with some of Trank's choices intact.
Wtf? Why?

What does he mean by "everything I've heard"? Does he just mean what Fox has said publicly? If so, there's no reason to believe they're following through.

That's what has me concerned. Everyone here has been so confident that Fox will be done with the franchise after this, but I'm less convinced.

I just can't believe they'd go through with this. If they thought fanboys were loud the first time... and now the general public is aware too. I'd rather they give me a few million instead of outright burning it on more of this crap.

So there were internal conversations about scraping the film, which would have been a replay of what happened with the Daredevil rights, but they're determined to make a sequel now that it has bombed worse than anyone could imagine?

I knew they would try again with another director. Ya'll can shake your head, but this is Fox. lol

Fox is just clearly trying to save face... and maybe bluff yet again to not seem weak... they're just trying to get a better deal out of marvel. Itd be stupid to continue this franchise

Who in their right mind would even finance the sequel? This one's going to lose tens of millions, and a sequel couldn't really be done for any less. Thing's around full time now. That's a lot of CG.

They'll need to hire someone like James Cameron or Steven Spielberg in order to get support for a FF2. LOL

LOL - This is too rich. Go ahead Fox. Your move. Make that sequel. Do it.

Bunch of avi arading arads.

So apparently Trank's first cut was a complete disaster. Why am I not surprised.

There's no way they move forward with a sequel

Fox would be insane to do that
