Fant4stic Fantastic Four Box Office Prediction Thread - Part 5

Brawl broke out at a FFINO screening!
There was only one patron watching the movie, but the dude had multiple personalities.
One personality was disgusted that it was nothing like the comic and wanted to walk out, another was a huge Trank fan and a thought it was awesome, a third personality had fallen asleep and was angry about being woken up by the other two.
It took 3 ushers to separate him.

:funny: I wonder who's crazier, the patron or the person who came up with the story? :cwink:

In a weird way, I feel sort of sorry for the actors. Man, they got stuck in a real pile.

It's rather amazing how I learned tons of horror stories about this movie in these forums when it was just all you racists complaining about MBJ.
I guess I was just psychic and found out all that stuff by reading minds rather than reading these posts.
What's even more more Twilight Zone freaky is that all the old racist posts have been replaced with brand new posts talking about a myriad of production woes.
Wow, those racists had got some really advanced technology to be able to do that.
Next thing they might do is go back in time and create an official announcement of the cast by Fox.
We all missed that too, but who knows maybe in a day or two, an "old" video will magically appear where with great hoopla Fox announces the cast---"and as our Victor Domashev we are proud to have Toby Kebbel."

That's easy, the multiple personality guy can be helped with modern mental health care---I am a lost cause.

The two biggest early warning signs were no SDCC appearance in 2014 when they were rumored to be on the slate for Fox and then pulled. And the second was the film getting pushed back to august.

I would say the first real big warning sign was Fox going around to other directors trying to get them to take over the project from Trank in March of last year shortly before it was originally scheduled to start filming and then getting no takers so they decided to go ahead with Trank. That certainly set off alarm bells.

True, I kind of forgot about that one. Needless to say most of the information around this project that came out was negative. Supporters of the film blamed it on "haters" spreading bad word on the Internet. For people who say, no one saw this coming, I am just at a loss of words.... (or at least words that wouldn't get me banned) ;)

Well, firstly, all those rumours did sound bad if taken on face value and taken as 100 per cent gospel truth. But behind-the-scenes issues can be fabricated or exaggerated. On places like this (SHH, CBM and other sites), it's such a hotbed of intense overreaction that it's hard to put any trust in anything. Things become 'epic' or 'disaster' very easily, and there's very little sense of perspective.

Especially after my mother died, I realised much of the internet (including these forums and social media) is just worthless babble that has no significance in the real world. My father doesn't even go on the internet, they don't even have an internet connection in their house, and he's managed a perfectly happy and balanced life without it, focusing on the things that really matter (such as family, love, happiness, health, financial stability, a sense of achievement). Not one element of my parents' full and stable life had anything to do with being on the internet, lol... surprise surprise.

And also, there are behind-the-scenes changes on almost every movie. Things get changed, reworked, cancelled, added. Reshoots take place, etc. I don't judge things on rumours. I like facts. If I don't have them, I have a healthy sense of caution.

I'll say it again; you clearly were not paying attention, or you just don't believe the old "where there's smoke there's fire" adage. I'm not saying I believe everything I read on the internet, but at a certain point you can use logic and deductive reasoning to figure out when something is clearly amiss. And for what it's worth, we had enough "facts" quite a while back to come to this conclusion.
The final nail in the coffin for me was a podcast I heard last November with a bunch of industry insiders discussing upcoming 2015 movies. One of the panelists said that there are two big franchise movies coming out in 2015 that are helmed by new-comers, clearly talking about Jurassic World and FFINO. He went on to say that one of the movies will be a huge hit, and the other will be the last time that director ever works again. He didn't name any names. About two months later, Trank "quit" Star Wars.
Now, when I first heard that I came to this section and posted about it. I was immediately told "you don't know, he could easily be talking about Colin Trevarow on Jurassic World" by the same people who had been defending this movie for months. But, given that on top of the months of rumors swirling about and radio silence from the studio, what would a logical person conclude from all of this?
Something was wrong with this production from the start. Plenty of us around here knew it, not because we had our torches and pitchforks ready to hate this movie, but because we didn't have our heads buried in the sand.

As I already said, my Facebook feed had many articles on the film, all of which had comments dominated by the black Torch. It was exhausting to read it over and over. Although Trank indulged in nepotism, and casting a black Torch is definitely a point of debate, that casting was not at the root of the film's poor reviews and poor performance. That's down to writing, as the original script proved. Yes, even that original script had problems but it was galaxies better than what we got.

As you can tell from the numerous people who have responded to you already, this is an experience that none of us share. You say you encountered a lot of people hating on the casting decision? I have no doubt that you did. However, I'm not sure how you missed out on the other numerous justifiable reasons this movie received hate since day one, especially around here. If MBJ's casting was the only controversial thing that happened with this film before it's release, that topic would have quickly disappeared, because it was a non-issue for most people. There was just so much else to hate.

Wait, I had never heard that. When did this information come to light? I've only been following this situation since last August/September, so I might have missed it.

Bleeding Cool reported that directors had been approached to replace Trank as that situation was happening, so it would have been well before last August.

Even before the Tank replacement rumors, we went through multiple scripts and delays. There was a time when filming was supposed to start as early as July 2013 in Vancouver.

Basically every bit of news we had on this production was a red flag.

Yup.

Fox only released red flags for FFINO, not actual news as such.

It was around the Ides of March, 2014.

Trank probably thinks he's Julius Caesar, and everyone else conspired against him and stabbed him in the back.

Yep, there was basically no real news at all which kickstarted the whole "Keep hope alive" movement in the first place.

Daaaammmn...it's like a hornet's nest went OFF in here. Stingers are OUT.

You guys and gals should ease up a bit on X-Maniac--he's just stating his perception of things like the rest of us. I'm sure no harm or foul to us as a board was intended.

Psshhh, speak for yo-self. :argh:

When they cast Miles Teller for Reed that was my first epiphany that they were gonna screw it up. Reed Richards is smart AND sexy. He's Marvel's original Leading Man. When they cast The Great Nose, I knew we were in for it. Miles had this...and I hate to say it but...I certainly will... certified dumb ass look about him. Like he couldn't figure out how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, let alone opening the gateways to interdimensional travel. I couldn't take him seriously as a leading man.

Superficial mofo! :argh:

Whoa, I leave for a few weeks and when I'm back, people are using the race card again :D

Another red flag back then was when people close to the production said they were going for a "found footage feel" :S

That ws June 27, 2014 when dumb @$$ Emma Watts gushed over Trank--"found fottage"??
"Oh, yes, it Josh's thing it's what he's known for, that's he style..."
You g-damn airhead, not one fan in a hundred wants a FF movie in found footage style. It's 2014 for criss sakes, found footage has been relegated to low budget horror movies. Fans want an epic FF movie of the type Marvel is making-- not some mess with the look of an indie movie.
And quit talking about Trank like he's sombody special-- he has one freakin found footage movie under his belt.
What a dope she sounded like--had to retract a day later---"Uh, no it's not going to be found footage, we just wanted to confuse and annoy the fans with another BRIGHT RED FLAG

You know, Garfield, who was incredibly enthusiastic when first unveiling himself as Spiderman before TASM 1 is now coming out and just blasting the films, describing them as a "prison". I can only imagine what Teller will say in a year from now, concerning FF. Its likely going to be pretty ugly, given he's pretty outspoken, and was not as passionate when coming in.

I'd also be interested in hearing what Bell has to say on the whole thing. He's the onl one, who's said nothing about the situation.

Garfield is also saying he wanted the films to be in the MCU. Kebbell already said he wanted to fight Thor. Even the actors understand Marvel's characters are intended to coexist...

Yeah, it's like after a couple weeks on the set of these movies they are like, "does any body around here know what they're doing? If this were a MCU movie this would be first class with some competent people IN CHARGE.

If it were up to the actors, all the Marvel characters would be part of the MCU.
I do feel bad for some of the actors that take the brunt of the criticism, given they aren't the ones in charge of the creative side of things.
