Vin Diesel just announced at CinemaCon that Universal Pictures has set a July 11, 2014 release date for Fast & Furious 7! No other movie is scheduled for that date, but Maleficent opens a week earlier and X-Men: Days of Future Past is scheduled for the week after.

Continuing the global exploits in the franchise built on speed, Vin Diesel and Paul Walker lead the returning cast of Fast & Furious 7. James Wan directs this chapter of the hugely successful series, and Neal H. Moritz and Vin Diesel return as producers.

Yeah, let's be real now. To the people who said that production should be ceased, you should be ashamed of yourselves. Not only would Paul Walker not have wanted that to happen but he also wouldn't want everyone involved in the film (pre-,post-, or production itself) to be jobless or to have wasted their time. In the grand scheme of things, the machine will continue to run. The film will be released. Money needs to be made. That's the name of the game.

The show must go on.

But I think out of respect, that this should be the last film unless we're going to do more with Lucas Black.

But I think out of respect, that this should be the last film unless we're going to do more with Lucas Black.

No one here is calling for the shutdown of production. That is standard protocol in this type of event. Anyone who follows film knows this. The script needs to be rewritten. Contracts have to be amended. Schedules have to be redone. The release date has to be reconsidered. The future of the franchise has to be reconsidered. Its an entire cumbersome process.

This so sad... I can't believe this is even real... My heart pours out for his daughter!
I think this is the last FF film. The entire cast was really close... Tyrese and Vin were especially close to Paul. Paul and Ludacris Birthday is a day apart so they been celebrating it together these last few years.

The franchise can't go on after this. It will end with FF7, Brian is an important part of the franchise success. Doing FF8 without him will be an injustice.

I remember when Oceans 13 came out, the entire cast told various media outlets that were going to make as many Oceans films as they could. But when Bernie Mac died, they stopped it.

I think FF will be the same.

It must be terrible for the actors to go on without him. I doubt there's gonna be a Fast 8. No amount of money can replace a guy who you've worked for so many years with. Specially under the circumstances in which he died.

Tragic news. While I admit I wasn't some huge Paul Walker fan, I think he did good work in these films, and it will not be the same without him after they've established this strong familial cast.

The way he died mixed with the content of these movies is sure to bring up bad feelings for the people involved. With Cory Monteith, I think alot of the cast of Glee have bounced back fairly well, but it's also not like he died from singing too hard or something. With this... it can't be easy for them.

I think it's funny that people keep saying "I wasn't a fan of his but..." Nothing wrong with that but I'm not going to waste my time saying if I was a fan or not.

He was apart of films that I liked, I got use to his presence in the films. It's sad because he was only 40 and had a kid and friends and family. I have empathy for others not just famous people either.

I had a similar feeling as you. But I liked the guy and I enjoyed his work in the movies. I almost typed that part unconsciously but it wasn't like it was a waste of time. Whatever.

Sometimes I think you could be a tad less blunt.

I would hope not. It wouldn't feel right to do some offscreen death scene but not actually have a final dialog between him and Vin.

Actors and directors aren't money-driven robots though. This franchise will not continue, at least not with this current roster.

To me this is different than a normal actor dying , I'm sure people close to my age (29) grew up with these movies and even with the ridiculous action and thin plots they had such a strong feel of friendship and family that the viewer would want to be a part of. He seemed like a good dude too. I hope fast 7 is done in good taste, or as close to good taste a movie studio could be in this situation .

hard to believe Paul died. was surprised to find out he was 40 years old because i actually thought he was much younger like around 34 or 35.

Paul's actually been around for a while. One of his earliest lead roles was this really cruddy B-movie with Denise Richards where he plays a jock who gets his brain put into a mechanical dinosaur.

He always kind of had a youthful look though.
