The only time I noticed CGI Paul was right at the end when he was having one last ride with Vin's character.

And the moment [BLACKOUT]during the house explosion where he closed the van.[/BLACKOUT]

It was a good movie and I'm happy with the ending, RIP Paul. Would have loved to see Sean from Tokyo Drift get a slightly bigger role. If there's anything the franchise has been doing great it is honoring the movies of the franchise. When the original crew returned to make the movies, they still added Roman and Tej, characters they could have skipped. They added Han, and I remember that Eva Mendes appeared in one of the post-credit scenes. The Tokyo Drift part of Furious 7 was only short, but I loved it. Now that Brian is sadly gone, I hope Sean becomes a part of the team. He won't "replace" Paul Walker, but I would still love to see them do it, and it would IMO be a fitting continuation of the franchise. I would assume if Statham returns, Sean would also want revenge for Han.

Same here. I thought Lucas Black was going to have a much bigger role.

I think Black will have a bigger role in the next one.

I think tbey wanted to keep it short because noticeably he doesn't look close to 17 anymore. I really did love the ending. The song along with montage and him driving away was perfect.

I loved the movie,A fantastic ending for Bryan!!

It was overall a good movie, though some things I didn't care for. I don't want to sound negative right off the bat, but I didn't care for the camera work during some of the fight scenes, too quick and too up close. And it just didn't have that pizazz as some of the other movies. It was all action and didn't really build up any real story line.
With that being said, I think this movie will better suited after a second or third viewing. I too enjoyed the ending sequences with Dom and Paul driving off and splitting ways!!! I as well enjoyed the Race Wars scene got that old school vibe going.
Nice to see some old characters like Hector, but still like to know what happened to Leon????. Didn't care for Iggy's small part, and was hoping for a little more Rhonda Rousey and Lucas. Still thought he would of wanted in on the fight against Han's killer, not sure why they gave him a small, small part.

Noel Gugliemi..... the guy always plays the same role lol.. And I'm pretty sure he played Hector 4-7 times outside the F&F movies.

Kurt Russell's character was pretty damn cool.

Especially when he put those night vision glasses on and starting shooting up the place, and gave Bryan that wink when he got shot.

Total badass.

I also thought that teacher was the hottest one. And I was afraid Bryan was thinking about an affair.
The only time I noticed CGI Paul was right at the end when he was having one last ride with Vin's character.

I didn't even know they used that much CGI or any for Paul's face. After some research, it looks like Paul originally only finished half of the movie, and the rest used CGI or his brother as a stunt double. That is some impressive CGI.

I was wondering how they did it....

With that final scene with him playing with his son and Mia at the beach. Then doing that last race with Dom and his signature smile.

I was like... "It's almost like the movie makers knew this would be Paul's last movie from the start". I'm an idiot, I thought they just made it work. I didn't think they used all these tools to give his character a more fitting ending.

Oh and of course Paul Walker. I don't know how they did it, but I honestly couldn't tell when a stand-in (CGI or otherwise, like one of his brothers) was used.
Same here.

I think I noticed it in one part, but that was it, where Bryan and everyone are overlooking LA.

So now I know they used CGI for his face in some parts.

But what about his voice? How did they do that?

Isn't the voice easier to replicate than the face?

His voice can easily be pieced together in post from bits and pieces of other sound recordings. Face would be much tougher. They did a good job.

There are voice-over artists who specialize in voice doubling for famous actors, whether for parodies, dubbing TV-cut movies, and so forth. So that was an easy fix.

Rest assured, Universal likely hired the guy that does Walker's voice -- and not something complicated like combining his brothers' voices.

No more Shaw brothers. They've had their fun. Only way I see bringing them back is to have a spinoff Hobbs movie. Which, btw, Hobbs needs his own movie.

Every time The Rock was on screen, he gave the movie energy and humor. (Like he did with Fast Five.) It's a shame he was only there at the beginning and end. There's only so much Vin Diesel I can take before I start to nod off...

Hopefuly we'll see more of the Rock in the next film, i think they may have been limiting his role in order for him to not overstay his welcome.

So Statham is returning for the next one? Small role or main baddie again?

Pretty cool villain!

Hobbs better get a big role next time. Take Bryan's spot

Hollywood reporter raised their estimate to 135-138 mil weekend

Bet it hits a billion

He was ok. I liked his brother better. Statham was basically just the Terminator. Showed up whenever an action sequence was needed.

One thing that I'm not real big on is:
Jordana Brewster seemingly being forced out of the franchise simply because Paul Walker died unexpectedly. That's kind of not fair to her.

What role would she have though?

In addition you have to wonder if she'd want to be around without her on-screen husband. Then they'd have to explain away where Brian is. Unless you'd be cool with having his brothers continually stand in for him...
