There is talk about it opening at $115 if that is true it'll hit 300 domestically pretty easily

I'm thinkin that this movie, Star Wars, Avengers, Bond, and the Hunger Games finale will be the top earners this year? Would you guys keep Hunger Games in that list or replace it with something else?

Remember, these films have huge drop-offs. They all drop over 60% their second weekend so if it opens at $115 M it'll probably end around 250 M domestic.

No maybe you should look at other movies more, if it opens at 115 and ends with 250 it would have absolutely horrible legs, horrendous.

If it opens at 115 and drops off 60% each weekend it would have 190 mil by the end of its 4th weekend counting ONLY the weekends.

If it opens at 115 and has FF6 legs it will get 285 but FF6 had way more competition.

Sounds like a good estimate to me.What are the chances of it crossing the billion mark? Do you think it has a wide enough appeal to hit that?
I think it has a small outside shot. The films just keep growing and growing internationally. The last one did 550million dollars outside of North America, up from Fast Five's 416million. Furious 7 doing 700 million wouldn't surprise me but that sounds like a bridge to far right now so I'll go with 50 million more than the last film.

I don't think it has a shot at 300 million here in the states, the most I see it doing is 275 million.

Star Wars, AoU, SPECTRE, Hunger Games, Inside Out, Minions, and Rogue Nation will all probably beat it imo. AoU starts coming out internationally starting April 24. This movie does have the Paul Walker situation, so it will get an extra bump from that.

The Walker factor is huge. Plus the insane positive buzz. Diesel and Johnson are social media giants. Then you have Statham, a guy known for his own vehicular carnage, and massive body count, and being part of two action franchises as the villain. Plus Tony Jaa, who is huge in Asia, his upcoming film with Dolph Lundgren is a DTV in the West, but getting huge theatrical push in Asia.

I can see it hitting 1 billion.

Billion isn't out of the question at all for Furious 7. Lotta hype for this one.

I almost forgot Tony Jaa was in this. Man, with him, Statham and Rhonda Roussey I am expecting some KICK-ASS fight scenes!

Ludacris was on First Take this morning and said Walker had completed about 85% of his work for the film. I thought I remembered something like he had just finished half or something so I wonder how much exactly.

yeah he had done a lot of his scenes, i remember that

i hope the credits are a walker montage of sorts though. but my eyes might not make it :/

The IGN.com review for Fast & Furious 7 says that the end of the movie sort of shifts tones and gives a good send off to Paul Walker and his character Bryan.

I was listening to the soundtrack and was wondering if they're going to use one of the songs for the opening credits? The ending credits to Fast Five and opening credits to Fast and Furious 6 are some of my favorites.

I too loved the end credits song for Fast Five and the opening song in Fast 6 by Whiz. I also have the new song Go hard or Go Home from Furious 7 which is also by Whiz and Iggy.

That "See You Again" track is good too.

Could anything measure up to Fast Five? That film came out of nowhere with it's awesomeness. Also, has it been said what the extent of Lucas Black's role is?

It's just a cameo. His return as a regular was set for 8 and 9.

Cool. I'd be happy seeing him as a regular. I liked him well enough in Tokyo Drift.

i see them using a story to get Brian and Mia out of the way, either safety or to be a family with their son etc and the team probably needs a guy so Dom makes a call to the kid he remembered in Tokyo

Lucas Black isn't as charismatic as Paul Walker, but I think he'll do fine going forward.

I think they need to bring some new blood for Furious 8. And knowing how big this franchise has become, it won't be too hard for them to get some big name.
