Favorite action sequence in Man of Steel

I liked the Smallville Fight with Faora and that big dude.

The Battle of Smallville is my favorite action scene in any comic book movie ever. Finally moving the Joker truck chase from the top of the list.

I don't get it. I just don't get it.

For YEARS this is all people would say in regards to Superman films: "WE WANT A KNOCKDOWN DRAG OUT SUPERMAN BRAWL!!! WE WANT SUPERMAN TO PUNCH SOMETHING ALREADY!!! WE WANT SUPERMAN TO LET LOOSE!!!!!! WE WANT TO SEE WHAT HE IS REALLY CAPABLE OF ON THE BIG SCREEN!!!!"

And now, when we finally get it, it's this:"WAAAH TO MUCH ACTION WAAAAH!!! IN A SUPERMAN FILM!!!!!" WAAAH!!!"

What do you want? In a damn SUPERMAN film!!!??? Of all comic book characters, Superman is the one that truly deserves and justifies the amount of action Man of Steel provides. Do you not want Superman to be super!? I mean jesus....
Are you people ever happy? The action in this film is incredible in it's sheer voracity. While I love the action in The Avengers, Man of Steel makes you feel like you are more immersed in the action. The brawls had real speed and power to them. MOS is no more action packed than Avengers.

The last 40 or so minutes of Avengers is all action: Helicarrier fight...10-15 break...last battle.
Man of Steel: Smallville fight....10-15 minute break....Zod vs. Supes battle.

And whats with the tentacle hate? I loved them. It was very comic book.

Jesus, yourself. Just because people complain that one thing has too little of something, doesn't mean they can't complain that something else has too much of the same thing. It is about balance. Obviously, you were never read the story of Goldilocks and the three bears as child.

Also, you clearly haven't taken anytime to read any of the well thought out posts detailing people's reasons why they felt there was too much action or certain fight scenes felt overly repetitive and exhausting. Even people who loved the movie have acknowledged that they can see where the other side is coming from. Stop reducing the arguments of those you disagree with into staw men.

Smallville is great because TBH it's practically a classic movie moment. The western-stand off, with the townspeople cowering away while the Sheriff is fighting alone. The fact that it has the most intense action and emotional weight is a huge bonus. Also the CG for that scene was particularly great. Some parts looked like what superheroes would look like if they were actually clashing in mid air.

I loved it when the the Big Kryptonian and Faora set Superman up for that Massive close line. He smash Superman into the ground then picked him up and Tossed him at Superspeed. Faora then pop up out of no where and delivered the Closeline mid air leaving Superman lying face down unmoving in the middle of the road.

My favorite moment was when Sups tackles Zod and beat his face in traveling at a couple hundred MPH screamin "You think you can threaten my mother"!!! Awesome scene, I get goosebumps just thinking about it! YOU DON'T MESS WITH SUPERMANS MOTHER ZOOOOD!!! lol

Faora doing Tekken-moves was pretty nifty.

I'm surprised that there wasnt ANY slo-mo at all.

I would love for the environment to be moving in slow motion and for Superman to be fighting at normal speeds to show him moving at hyper sonic speeds like in that movie "The One". that's the only time i want to see slow motion.

Having now seen it twice, I have to go with Smallville.

I loved Zod vs. Superman, and it was obviously very destructive, but my initial thought on the first viewing - as I was watching it - was how (pick your own adjective) intense/forceful/extreme Supes vs. Faora and big guy was (with a little military sprinkled in).

I mean whether they were punching/slamming each other into the pavement from two feet off the ground or throwing each other around in the air or hurling each other 50 yards away into a building or two, it just almost made you cringe in a good way like "damn that is brutal."

Sometimes I ramble on and my words make no sense, so hopefully I'm properly conveying what I'm trying to say about that eight or so minute sequence there.

The fact that Hardy used all his bullets to no avail, pulled out a knife, and still went to strike first was just icing on the cake for me.

Yeah, Snyder's style would've really matched this setting well. I think most were expecting his trademark slo-mo for impact in certain scenes.

I don't disagree in that, I don't think that would have taken away from the film but I don't think the lack of it hurt it either.

It kept my eyes moving a bit more than I'd like but I'm okay with it because I caught it all. I wouldn't have shot Smallville any different if it were myself. The impact of them slamming each other into things at full speed was fine with me and may have - to a point - been diminished by seeing the typical slowing down so people can absorb it stuff.

I absorbed it just fine.

Nothing that wasn't in the Avengers.

Going by some of these posts you would think the Superman/Zod fight was 10 minutes long. It wasn't even that long actually. Anyway, the Smallville battle was the best action sequence ever in a comicbook movie, and one of the best I've seen in movies period.

I have to see it one more time after seeing it twice. I know now the two main battles are Smallville and Zod, but for some reason I counted Supes and the gravity machine. I'd have to see which one I like better. I still love the aerial shots with Supes and Zod. It's brief but good.

The Smallville fight had different cooler action with all the dffernt scenery changes as well as the wow factor because this is he first time ever we've seen Kryptonians go at it. I prefer the Zod fight though because that is what I've always wanted to see in a Superman movie. Two super beings going at it in a city because I want to see the destruction of these guys going at it. Transformers 2 made the climax in the desert man that was boring, there's no destruction. I pay and go to movies for fun and to escape the real world. You can tell Snyder had a big time amount of fun making that final fight.

Agreed about escaping the real world and entering the movie. Snyder and the VFX crew did a great job with a lot of it.

The super-speed was more impressive without the slow-mo, IMO. I think they made the right choice not to do slow-mo.

The Smallville fight was just as great, if not better the second time, because you're able to follow the action more. I love how your eyes feel like they're struggling to keep up with these super powered beings, yet you can still take it in.

My favourite part of the final fight is the score used. I absolutely love 'If you love these people'

Nothing that wasn't in the Avengers.

And not everyone loves The Avengers and many wanted this to be something more akin to a Nolan Batman film than a CGI popcorn thrill ride like The Avengers.

Jor El's action sequence from the council to the launch was great.

Favourite action sequence has to be the tentacle fight followed by flying up into the world engine thing

sorry but in plot and drama is way superior than Avengers and a lot like batman begins....

Perhaps some people saw the Avengers as more than just a CGI popcorn thrill ride.
Just saying. :yay:

I thought Superman destroying the world engine was absolutely fantastic and tense. Cavill sold the mix of struggle, determination and power so well there.
