Perhaps some people saw the Avengers as more than just a CGI popcorn thrill ride.
Just saying.
Yep, and they are welcome to have that opinion and present arguments in support of it even though I do not share that opinion. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I think that because The Avengers was light-hearted and fun and had a good amount of cheese, that it couldn't also have great depth and intelligence to it. Whedon made his name with Buffy doing just that and I was hoping he would do the same with The Avengers, but I don't think he did.
The point being that GremlinZilla's arguments were disrespectfully and insulting of the intelligence of those people with whom he disagreed. He reduced the arguments of the critics to straw men parodies of most of the actual commentary seen here, at least from old regulars.
