Favreau Interested in Directing Avengers

Will Favreau be interested to use The Ultimates as the story for the Avengers movie? I really like Miller's ultra-realistic approach and I think it could work in the big screen.

Please god no, I want a blending of the two, not The Ultimates.

Ultimate Hulk needs to stay away from any medium.

If Favreau proves himself, I don't see a reason why he shouldn't direct the Avengers film if he wants to.

I never liked Millar's Ultimates, yet I don't care if they use Ultimate elements or not. The only thing I'd really object to is the man-eating Hulk idea coming to the big screen.

Favreau should concentrate on Iron Man and its sequels.

Well if Iron Man turns out to be a great film then he should direct this film.

Favreau Interested in Directing Avengers

MTV has posted a new interview with Iron Man director Jon Favreau, who says he would be interesting in helming an Avengers movie. The catch is that Marvel wants to wait until each character has their own movie first. The good news, however, is that they want to use the actors that are starring in the individual movies:

...Favreau insists that Marvel will only go ahead with the project if and when all the individual characters get their own story. It'll be worth the wait, Favreau claimed, calling this way not only more impressive and formidable – but more consistent as well.

"I wonder if the tone of 'The Incredible Hulk' is going to be similar or different than ['Iron Man']," Favreau questioned. "And 'Captain America' is a twinkle in Marvel's eye right now. And 'Thor' and 'Ant Man.'

"[But] in the case of Marvel they're pretty clear on wanting to do it with the actors who've established the roles or to not do it at all. That's what they've said to me," he continued.

Thanks the Lord... I feel like crying... a studio that GETS IT!!!!!!!!! GET A CLUE WB/DC!!!

if the first movie of Iron Man does well, then we'll certainly get a sequel in 2010. and maybe Hulk, too.

I hope they go

2009: Thor
2010: C.A
2011: IM2
2012 Avengers

IM2 could sort of be the lead in to an Avengers... maybe a setup for the villain in Avengers. I don't really care about the lesser profile characters Marvel intends to make as long as we get those four movies.

I'd like to see Ant-Man squeezed in there somewhere. I know lots of folks scratch their heads at the concept, but Pym is a great character, and one of Marvel's "founding fathers", so to speak. I'd love it if he was brought into the mainstream awareness with a major motion picture...

It should have Wasp in it as well then.

Haha, no one has ever been able to answer the question. Kirby and Lee just thought it sounded good apparantly. Though nowadays the Ultimates are literally avenging themselves.

I think it is a bad idea to do solo movies for all the individual characters first. Do Cap, Iron Man, and Hulk. Maybe Thor (though a movie about a real norse God will probably bomb with middle America). The rest can't really carry their own movies.

I think that's what Marvel is planning on doing. The only other solo films they're currently developing are Thor, Captain America and Ant-Man.

The only members that really need to be established in solo films are Iron Man, Cap and Thor. As long as they've got the holy trinity of the team already set up in their own films, then they're good to go for the Avengers.

Of course, also throwing in Ed Norton's Hulk would be an opportunity that's too awesome to pass up...

I Think it's pretty obvious they are going with ''The Ultimates'' Aproach.

Nick Fury, Hulk, The Chitauri.

I Think the Heroes will be:

Iron Man - Robert Downey Jr.

Hulk - Edward Norton.

Black Widow - HillarY Swank.

Captain America - ?

Ant-Man - ?

Thor - ?

Nick Fury - Samuel L. Jackson.

It should be realistic... that's why I am against Avengers alone... I don't want to see Zemo putting a team togethers and having a freaking battle royale... Masters of Evil vs the Avengers... that's just stupid... stick to one main villain... and gear it toward the early Ultimate issues.

What's wrong with The Masters of Evil/ Liberators?

Go with regular Avengers. Not a fan of the whole "Well the Government is paying us so let's work together" angle for a movie. The Ultimate characters are way different from their 616 counterparts so it works for them. As much as I like the two interpretations of the characters, 616 is where it seems we're headed (especially if you know what's going on with the Thor and Hulk movies and why we can't have the most integral plotlines) so they should just stick with that.
