Comics Final Issue of X-Men: Genesis

The thought of waiting for the trade is so horrible! I love the speculation and "omigod what?! what the hell is next?!" feeling at the end of each issue!

Some comics I read, enjoy to an extent but this one is really on another level...this is some BIG *****!

Yeah, there are certain things I'll wait for the trade for, like maybe Marvel Zombies, but a good mystery like this series is not one of them.

Yeah, I'm never patient enough to wait for 6 months to read some stories. And I don't want to become one of those people who only buys trades because honestly, I think that's killing the comics industry as we know it.

i got into comcis thru trades, ive got lord knows how many, starting with Grant Morrisons New X-Men run, and pretty much every x related one from around that time (Austen, X-Treme, Mystique, Exiles, Ultimate, X-Statix etc) up until the X-Men reload in May 04 when I switched to monthlies (harder in UK) few months later I branched out to the wider Marvel universe...I'm spending way too much right now but ah well!

Trades are nice for no ads and having the story all together, but they bend so easy! I actually prefer re-reading comics to trades, and it's easier to remember stopping points. I bag story arcs together in one plastic slip. In just under 2 years I've filled 2 long boxes...dear me

Just read issue #5..AHRRRRRghh!....again..nth much is revealed..other than Xavier comfirming Vulcan to be the 3rd Bro.We still don't know HOW is he the 3rd bro and what happened to the rest of the unknown team he was pt of...the final issue better be good man..>>!

Also, why is Vulcan capable of using his powers to prevent Scott from using his? And (in reference to a question of mine elsewhere) if Gabriel was with Charles and Moira before Emma became White Queen and of course was already in training before the original 5 went to Krakoa; then how is it possible for Charles to know that his adoptive parents were aliens of some sort? Furthermore, how is it possible for Corsair not to have mentioned a third son? Because the only way a Summers kid was going to end up in Space (though if raised in space, where he must have been to have been raised by aliens in a slave atmosphere, how'd he get back?) was if they were on the same plane as Chris, Katherine, Scott and Alex.
Xavier wasnt about when Corsair showed up, so he couldnt have wiped his memory about having another child. Why did Xavier not bring the brothers together when training them? He had no prob doing that when Alex was found.

This thing just seems fulla holes and nothing is panning out. I know continutity slips from time to time, but this is taking a pivotal moment in X-Men history and ignoring everything prior and post to create a story that should be retconned somehow but won't.

You're looking for holes when there are none. Gabe wasn't on the plane, he was genetically engineered by the Shi'ar. That was made clear by his back up story. Corsair apparently never knew about him until Xavier told him.

Vulcan is an energy manipulator, so it's not a stretch to say that he could control other mutant's powers with the power boost he's been said to have been given with his resurrection.

Yes, but Havok and Cyclops' powers cancel each other out. Meh, this series is not all that great. Professor X is a big prick AGAIN. He's walking AGAIN. He lost his powers AGAIN. Yawn.

And? There are a lot of mutant siblings and relatives that can use their powers on each other.

i liked the story i like how vulcan and cyke just talked ad didnt fight mid-way and right before porf. x came into the picture vulcan was sad about what has happen

i dont get why he needed to cause a big event or deaths to draw out professor X? surely one of his pupils that was meant to have died 10 years ago suddenly appearing again would be enough.

i think if anything, the illuminati special kinda damages it a bit. Were meant to think that Profesor X was close and chummy to all the top marvel heros while the krakoa thing was going on, and even discussed it with them, and he still sent in a group of kids instead? why didnt he just ask tony for the avengers help, or ask for the fantastic fours help?
it seems a bit mad.

Because Bendis pulled the Illuminati idea right out of his ass, just like most of the ideas happening at Marvel these days.

The Illuminati is a damn good diea in my opinion. But thats not for here so lets drop that topic by the wayside.

Specter 313 - sorry but I only fully read issue five yesterday. I was gonna wait for the trade, but I figured all the details explaining everything would be from this issue onwards. So I havent seen Vulcan's backstory. My question still stands though - if he was genetically engineered by the Shiar (Why by the way? Is he a shiar/human hybrid? Or literally the result of combining Katherine and Chistopher's DNA?) then how'd he get back to Earth if he was raised by slaves (slaves who most likely got no where near freedom till after the Phoenix saga when D'Ken was overthrown and peace spread)? How'd he get back, get found by Xavier (who couldnt have known he was a Summers unless Sinister told him or Gabriel was told he was a genetic manip of the shiar from the Summers and in turn told Charles), trained before the Krakoa mission etc? It just doesnt fit.

But if there have been explanations to all of that (there may well be in issue 6, but I cannot think of any acceptable reasons) then please tell me to clear my head.

Gabriel is believed to be a human/shi'ar hybrid, due to having glowing eyes like the Shi'ar he was raised with. Why, is most likely because apparently the Shi'ar do their own kind of genetic experiments, if the weird scientist guy in his backup story is any indication. His human connection is possibly Corsair since he was involved in one of the memory flashes seen in an earlier issue. He escaped when his mutant powers emerged, which involved killing a few guards along the way. How he got to Earth or if the colony was actually on Earth is still a mystery, but he didn't leave by getting freedom from D'Ken being overthrown. That and his parentage is expected to be revealed in issue 6 or maybe not until Brubaker's run on Uncanny, since it will deal directly with what happens in this mini. Xavier knowing how Gabe was a Summers was explained by something he found while telepathically scanning the boy's mind. We don't know what exactly, but that should be found out in the next issue. We didn't find out in issue 5 because Gabe wanted him to show the X-Men telepathically how he knew, just like he originally showed Gabe, but they decided to end on the cliffhanger with Xavier losing his powers. When Gabe was found, he was found by Moira, not Xavier, and she later introduced the two, after he had already been in her care for some time, same goes for all the other kids, that's when he began to work with him, which was even before the Krakoa incident. It was in one of the times that he was trying to help Gabe remeber his past, that he found whatever link to the Summers, and then he later brought Cyclops in to work with him. Again, all well before the original team went to Krakoa.

How is it that if no one could find Xavier before, he just magically appears now? I mean, when I first saw him, my first thought was that it was someone else in his guise. Where has he been all this time?

Illuminati would have been a great idea if forumlated slowly over several years. It was dropped in our laps and we were told it was always there. Ummm, no.

They'll probably say it was because he's not a mutant anymore.

Maybe. :) I just found it odd, you know?

^^^Amen brother! Also leads to why the need to even create him in the first place....

Anybody know of a place where someone's posted a review of issue 5?

I'm working on one for the site listed as my homepage. It should be up within a few days or so. Still have to finish it first.

We dont know where he's been all this time, perhaps hiding from any HOM Repurcussions.
As to why he wasnt found, wasnt cebros oiginal use to find mutants (or am i confusing myself with cartoons and films) as Charles is just one of the many billions of regular human folk hed be very difficult to find. As hes lost his powers, and psychic/mental links would also be lost so couldn't be used either. I think we need to credit him with enough intelligence to think that he could hide himself from the X-Men if he wanted to.

And he was hiding on Muir Island, the same place he had the Xavier Protocols, so maybe he had something down with them that could shield him from others.
