Iron Man 2 First look at Whiplash!

Yeah, i highly doubt that is the final armor. Since it looks like he is still or just escaping prison. So most likely, the armor will be updated throughout the film.

I think it looks pretty cool. Has that prototype factor aswell. I look forward to more.

mickey-rourke-whiplash.jpg

Thats a hi-res look at the image and rofl, Mickey (Whiplash) is just hanging there in what looks to be the built NASCAR track with a toothpick hanging out his mouth, maybe ready to cause some damage.

By the look, i would have to say, that he just got the whips, escaped from jail with them and maybe this is his first stop during his escape? Rough idea by just the image alone, but the hi-res look really gives you more details of Mickey

Not feeling it. I guess it's "better" than his comic book look, but I very much hope that his armor and his look evolves.

BAD ASSERY

i wonder if the suit is gonna have more to it though...im kinda hoping.

im sick of marvel making their heroes and villains constantly take off their masks.

seriously when do we see batman take off his mask in the middle of a battle in bb/tdk? oh thats right NEVER

but i recall the maskless cryfest in spider-man 3. tragic.

Lol the suit itself looks ok
but Roruke looks like a hobo who uses aluminum foil to "keep the aliens out"

Here's my bet:

Ivan Vanko is an inventor. He's jailed because he sells weapons at the Black Market and blames Tony Stark, who uncovered him as Iron Man. In prison, he develops the whips and, after escaping, adquires an copy of Stark's reactor at Black Market (Hammer has been selling them) and use it to energize the whips, attacking Stark as he's attending to the Grand Pix. Stark becomes Iron Man and fights Whiplash, eventually beating him.

Whiplash escapes, and is eventually found by Hammer, who gives him the technology and the money to build a better armor and get his revenge (Distracting Iron Man from Hammer's conspiracy in process). Vanko develops an better armor and attacks Iron Man again, this time, beating him, but not killing him.

In the ending, they have one final scuffle as Iron Man and War Machine battle Hammer, Whiplash and Black Widown. Whiplash dies/goes to prison.

Looks awesome really, its obviously a prototype, I think the scene could mirror the scene of tony escaping his captors. Ivan makes the prototype whiplash suit in jail and uses it to escape just like tony used the mark 1.

That sounds very plausable, It has that look of something put together in a cave, lol, but it does have the feel of what Whiplash/Backlash has, not sure what everone was expecting, but that's him in a nutshell, whips and that's it.

Is that a helmit laying on the track behind him?

Yeah, it looks like a racing helmet (motorcycle?)

Though Iron Man's break out of captivity suit did have a similar slapped together "realism" look, does anyone else feel this might be a touch too Dark Knight inspired? Love TDK, and Iron Man was "realistic" to a degree, but I liked where they were, and trying to be more gritty real like TDK/Begins, I wouldn't like.

I never like it when films try to copy other films, especially after a film has already established it's own feel in a previous installment, ala Iron Man.

Makes sense for the character here though, breaking out of prison and all, and as long as they don't try to force the whole film to be TDK like, I'd be fine with is.

Yeah, because eating donuts while in a giant donut just screams TDK.

You know, it's really growing on me now. I love the gritty Easter Promises vibe I'm getting from Roarke. Also, as I recall when Ledger's Joker face was first revealed there was a mixed reaction as well among the fans.

when i first saw the suit, it reminded me alot of metallo from the superboy tv series. i'm a huge superman/superboy fan so maybe its just me. i don't know too much about the characters of iron man, but from what i saw of whiplash, it looks pretty similar. still not getting me pumped for the movie though. other than iron man fans, i dont think too many people will know the characters, which i think could work to the favor of iron man. people won't get disappointed, and i think thats why the movie will do well.

Iron Man fans likely won't be disappointed either. They weren't for the first film.

One thing this pic is going to do is spark A LOT of conversation and speculation among the fan/internet community. So in that it is a very savvy choice I think.

Its looks great and I bet he is going to get a upgrade to a brand new design in the movie. He has the same power source like Iron man in the chest and plus we don't know how he uses his suit.

Don't like that at all. Hopefully it's just a prototype since he looks like he's wearing a prison jumpsuit still.

Actually, looking at the hi-res picture, there's a guy on the very right who looks like a pit crew member in what looks like the same orange jumpsuit. And with the helmet laying on the ground behind him, it looks like this may be a surprise ambush by Whiplash

Difference being that the first official Joker pic bore very little resemblance to the final design in the film. The complaining would have no doubt sustained, had Nolan kept that horrid make-up design in.

I don't think that will be the case here. What we see is what we'll get. And I'm not a follower of the character, but does he use Stark's tech in the comics too? I feel this is repeating the first villain, regardless of comic book accuracy.

i recall it being the same exact design, just the lighting was different and the picture was extremely close up. nothing was different though. the lighting was so dark that you couldnt even really make out the hair color. but the smile was the same and i think the eyes were blackened. they even had it as a disc cover (the actual disc)
