The Dark Knight "Five dead, two of them cops"

I think this fixation people have on the 5 people Dent killed is silly. Nolan's playing mind games with you all.

There had to have been scenes cut for time or to keep under the R rating. Probably some murder scenes.

I'm thinkin that they cut scenes. Either that or Ramirez is unconscious in an alley so they assumed she's dead

yea, i would love to have that much power!!! all the mind games!!! I bet Nolan's real motive isnt making astounding movies--its to get inside all the minds of the viewers and make them go insane over how and who did it!!!

I think the other cop is Harvey Dent since we learned he worked in Internal Affairs with Gordon. Batman is taking the fall for his death too.

So, Dent and Det. Wuertz, along with Maroni, his driver, and his other goon Dent kills offscreen before getting in the car with Maroni, makes five.

I'm pretty sure that these "two cops" are simply the two that were standing in front of his hospital room. Since Two-Face mysteriously disappeared and that the police probably discovered the bodies of the two cops, Two-Face is the only one suspect.

Two-Face unambiguously kills Detective Wuertz and Maroni's driver. I think we can assume Maroni died in the car crash, and they might have assumed the cop The Joker shot in Dent's hospital room was murdered by Dent too. That makes four, unless there was a second cop murdered in the hospital, but that would make three cops supposedly murdered by Two-Face, and Gordon only mentions two. The fifth Two-Face victim...the bartender in the bar where he kills Wuertz?

when maroni is getting into the passenger side of his car, there is a man on the driver's side that gets pulled off screen very quickly. i believe this is the first man harvey kills. you have to look closely but i noticed it both times i saw the movie. so he kills that guy, maroni's driver, maroni dies in crash. the two cops could be wuertz and the one that was at the hospital.

The guy he pulled off screen was definitely NOT killed. Two-Face made a point of using his coin to determine whether he kills someone or not. He would not have had time to flip his coin while pulling him off screen.

The other person was killed in the car though. It was Maroni's other "goon." The one who opened the door for him. He would have been in the driver's side passenger seat.

That makes for a total of four definitively dead, Wertz, Maroni, his driver, and the other guy in the car. Gordon assuming Ramirez, I guess, makes sense for the other cop, as Gordon knew there were two dirty cops, as would assume Dent killed the one who took Rachael.

You could say that the Police obviously were called to the car crash earlier, and that's how Gordon heard about those three bodies, but if hew knew then that it was Dent who killed them, he wouldn't think Dent was a hostage.

So, now, how does Gordon know that it was Dent who killed those three?

I guess he could have just told him, but then why not tell him about Wertz and Ramirez?

This seems the most likely explanation. Gordon had no idea the joker visited Harvey before he escaped.

Actually Batman killed those people, remember?

I was pretty confused bythis too.
1) Wurtz - He counts as a cop even though it was his day off.
2) Maroni's Driver - Dead.
3) Maroni - I found it ambiguous at first. Also, I thought it'd make sense for him to skip town with all the crazies running around. HOWEVER, it makes even more sense for him to die as a consequence of his driver being shot and not wearing a seat belt. That is unbiased, fair chance.

Ramirez - NOT DEAD. Just slapped pretty hard.
Cop #1 & 2 - Wonder if they found their bodies in the rubble, identified them, and were able to discern bullet holes to confirm a cause of death other than being buried by a building all in the same day? Yes, suspension of disbelief, I know. I'm just skeptical about these being pinned to Harvey (Batman).
Bartender - We didn't see the flip of the coin.
"Replaced" Mobster Passenger - Again, no flip.

I'm thinking it was a mistake in the writing. OR Ramirez skipped town, Gordon realized by this that she was partially responsible for Rachel's death, and assumed she was killed? I'm curious as to how Gordon got a body count and instantly tied it to Harvey in the first place?

Joker did say to Batman in the interrogation room, "and you didn't disappoint, you let five people die." I'm assuming that these are the same 5 dead that Gordon is referring to towards the end.

1. Judge Sirillo
2. Comissioner Loeb
3. Brian Douglas (fake Batman)
4. Patrick Harvey
5. _______ Dent (I don't know the first name)

4 and 5 are the dead cops found in the apartment building, holding Joker cards, painted faces, and one was laying on the Obituaries of the mayer.

I also think that Wuertz, the cop looking for Davis, Maroni and his driver's death wasn't known because of all the chaos going on.

Actually, 4 and 5 weren't cops, at least one wasn't. He worked for the DMV.

I just chock it up to a small continuity gaff. Maybe they thought Ramirez was dead as she wasn't picking up her phone and she was the one who contacted Jim's family to meet "Two-Face so they just guessed she was dead and were wrong.

I can understand that Maroni and his driver were probably included in the five dead, but how the heck did Gordon hear about them so fast? And if so, how was he sure Dent killed them? Dent did not mention them in their conversation at the end.

let's look at the facts,.,the cops in the hospital should be counted,., see joker got in the room that means he took care of the cop that was on watch,., and he killed the one that came in the room to get dent out,.,[2] considering no one knows joker was there,.,
i think he didn't kill Wurtz in bar because if he would how the hell did he knew where to find maloni? he interrogated the cop,.,he spared the life of ramirez,., without any doubt he killed maroni's driver[3] and himself[4](i strongly believe that maroni is dead ,see if he's gonna come back as the main villain of the third movie it has to be twoface who controls the mobs of gotham)now it comes down to the last murder ,., i think he killed the bartender,., he comes from the rest room that's why Wurtz thinks it's the bartender again and without looking at him he says"what now? you want somebody to pull it for you"(or something like that)

Is there any possibility that Gordon was referring to the five people from earlier on...? I have only watched the movie once on the day it came out, but I remember the Joker saying something to the effect "You didn't disappoint... you let five people die." And they will pin Dent's crimes on the Joker (I don't think he'd care either way).

I think I'm probably wrong though...

the five people are:

1- Judge Surrillo

2- Loeb

3- Richard Dent

4- Patrick Harvey

5- Wuertz.

Loeb and Wuertz are cops

Wasn't there someone else in Maroni's car aside from the driver?

I'd say its Maroni, Driver, the two cops at the hospital, and Dent himself. I don't think that they'd know about Wuertz yet with everything that was happening, especially they didn't mention his death specifically (which I feel that they would have).

Someone ask Jonah Nolan!
