The Rise of Skywalker For those that have seen it, a spoiler thread...

Palpatine could have just created a son through the force like Plagueis did with Anakin, but since he didn't master that power as stated in ROTS, the son he created was not strong in the force.

My opinions....

1. Palpatine created an army of millions of clones....so the idea of him manipulating DNA to create a super Force wielder is absolutely feasable to me.

2. I see it as a couple of things. (A) The idea of people calling her Palpatine is reprehensible to her. (B) She has always wanted to be part of a family....she is extremely strong in the Force....the name most widely associated with the Force is Skywalker....so she chooses to be called by that name.

3. I see it as a result of her DNA manipulation.
Fixed #1 for you. I'm not sure about your actual question, though. The actor who played her father is 30 and Daisy is 27 and was 23 when The Force Awakens came out. That would put the birth of Palpatine's son prior to any events of the original trilogy. Not too long after the birth of Luke and Leia, actually.

#2. To reject the emperor one last time and to honor the Skywalker name. She was more like them than him, anyway.

#3. Ben and Rey were a dyad in the Force. In biology, it's a sharing of DNA. So, I'm guessing in the Force, it's a sharing of power and ability. This explains why Rey was so quick to learn how to use her powers. She was tapped into Ben through the Force. She basically learned through osmosis when they first encountered each other. And, the stronger Rey became, the stronger their bond became.

1. Yeah I suppose I never thought of the DNA manipulation I think I was just trying to picture The Emperor ever being in love like Anakin was with Padme and just couldn't picture it lol.

2. This was my feeling as well but wouldn't have been surprised if I had somehow missed a mentioned family link.

3. I suppose that makes sense I dont know if it was just me but I wasnt the biggest fan of those scenes more because it felt like I never really quite knew what was going on. Like to start with it felt very much like they could only talk to each other but got a little confusing once they started effecting each others enviroment and Kylo literally snatching the necklace somehow.

So when the jedi voices spoke to rey, they put all their power inside of her correct?

As for Sheev Jr, tough to tell. It could have been the force, it could have been through science, or just plain natural. (remembers when the EU gave him a harem)(shudder)

I do suspect that Sheev Jr had something to do with whatever Palpatine was doing on Mustafar.

Also, the whole notion of Palpatine being back is weird... not really any explanation and The First Order gets sidelined for Empire Redux and then nothing happens with the Resistance other than “this is our last stand”.

All of the emotional weight of failure and loss that Rian had Luke talk about in TLJ isn’t in this and therefore seems redundant to ROTJ and not a new statement to the saga/galaxy. Outside of some tears shed for Leia by the main group...

I hated that they didn't explain how they knew how to heal with the force. Like a throwaway line from reading the Jedi texts would've helped, but it's not there.

And I hate to say it but this movie gave so much more ammo to the "Rey is a Mary Sue" critique. And "I am...all the Jedi" felt like Terrio was just made that "I am Iron Man" turned out to be such a great line. :funny:

Were the “Sith acolytes” real or a dumb ghost crowd for Palpatine to get high off of?

Like, when they died they seem to disappear and not become dead people who regretted changing their lifestyle to follow Palpatine’s bone ghost.

He did like having a back-up plan. Tips would have been his back-up in case things didn't work with Vader.

Theory time--

When Sidious says "all the Sith live in me", it kind of flirted with a theory I've been nursing for a while. The notion that essentially, what if Plagueis' essence transferred into Palpatine when Palpatine killed him, and that's the power to cheat death that Plagueis had unlocked, potentially going back many generations of the Rule of 2? The fact that Palpatine wants Rey to kill him clearly puts essence transfer on the table. But of course it's still an imperfect method of survival, which is why when presented the opportunity, he would rather just use the power of the Dyad to rejuvenate himself.

As far as him being back in the first place-- I mean the canon explanations are in place. The resurrection ceremony from the Aftermath novels, or the world between worlds. While this film definitely doesn't give all the answers, it definitely paints a picture of Palpatine having been in search of greater power the whole time. Which also does fit with Episode III, when he tells Anakin they can work together to discover the secret.

So essentially, my thought is...part of Plaguies (IE all the Sith?) survived in Palpatine, but essence transfer diminishes in Force power over time, leaving Sidious even at the height of his powers still trying to crack the code for unlimittted powahhh.

Anybody else on a remotely similar track here? I know it's wonky as hell, but thinking about this stuff is fun.

How do we not know Palpatine can’t just come back again...? Like there isn’t one statement about that in this. Hell, if all of the Star Destroyers blew up the Sith Temple could have been an easy closing to this situation.

Also, going back to the DSII not to find the start of Palpatine’s reincarnation or something was also weird. All to just find the way finder again... which why would that be on the DSII since Palpatine doesn’t need a map to something he himself created. I don’t need to use maps when I’m heading home from work everyday.

It showed in TLJ that there was some transferance of matter in their communication with some sea water....so I saw what happened in this movie as a natural progression of the ability.

It's a bit baffling that Rey seemingly told no one that she can skype Ben either. I thought she would've at least told Leia that.

Well I am pretty sure that Qui-Jon is now wishing that someone would have told Obi-wan that he could have healed his master by using the force instead of letting him die on the spot.lol

At that point....Obi-Wan showed no signs at all of advanced Jedi powers. It wasn't until episode III that Yoda told him that he will teach him to "commune" with Qui-Gon who he has just recently been able to communicate with. As far as we know.....no Jedi had the healing ability at the time Qui-Gon was killed.
