The Rise of Skywalker For those that have seen it, a spoiler thread...

One the things I realized in my 2nd viewing was how the Snoke reveal really undermined (much to my delight) one TLJ's most important choices - Kylo killing Snoke. That was a huge moment of shock for the audience and a springboard for Kylo's character to kill his all powerful master. But now whenever you watch that scene it's gonna feel empty as Snoke was just a chump and his early, untimely, and expectation subverting death meant nothing, as he was nothing.

Another way JJ took a dump on TLJ.

Technically snoke was still something he was hella powerful with the force like ridiculously so.

But his death still meant nothing, the shock came from the big bad being killed so early and out of nowhere. Turns out he wasn't the big bad, just a powerful henchman.

I don't see how you can see what Snoke did in TLJ and think of him as a chump. Even if he wasn't the ultimate villain. And even then, that would probably be a bit debatable. I think they hinted pretty strongly that Snoke was a puppet of Palpatine.

The guy was literally a puppet, he had no agency whatsoever. That's how.

How exactly did Ben and Leia die? And where did Rey get her yellow sabre?

Did Leia simply fell I'll and died of natural causes? I'm assuming Ben used all his energy to bring back Rey but how did he disappear like a jedi ghost?

He and Leia were bonded as Skywalker Jedi I assume.

I really need to go back and just watch all nine movies back to back since Palpatine has basically been behind every god damn thing in the series.

I'm guessing some time passed in between the fall of the first order and when she went to tattooine and she did the jedi ritual in ilum to get a Kyber crystal. Yellow sabers are cannon right? I know the grand inquisitor had one in kannans vision in rebels. And so did Ahsoka for a while in clone wars

So something I’ve realized, is that they could’ve had a great ending for Palpatine, Ben, and Rey if they’d looked to an unlikely source: The Force Unleashed. They already had that fight over a transport earlier in the film.

Yeah this is basically fan fiction, but imagine Ben gets thrown down the pit. Rey goes up against Palps, blocking the Lightning. Rey reaches out to the Jedi, and pulls her hand back, but then pulls Ben from his fall. Ben pulls the saber back and moves towards Palps too. Rey could then pull down the Command Destroyer. But Ben has to stay and keep Palpaine held with the force. Rey runs as the destroyer crashes into the stadium, blows up the acolytes, and Palpatine and Ben. No kiss, no dumb Lightning death.

Yes, the Jedi Temple guards had yellow sabers. As for where she got them, who knows. Not quite sure how Luke got his after ESB. Not entirely sure she was able to got to Ilum, as Fallen Order seems to hint very heavily of its fate...

Uh....that was the very reason I freaking loved Kylo killing Snoke. Snoke always felt like cheap, hollow Emperor knock-off and it's why I never was able to fully get on board with the character at a conceptual level. I like it even more now that TROS just confirms it.

The moment in TLJ still works perfectly for Kylo's character arc because it's still about him usurping his master, and taking control of the First Order just at the moment Rey/the audience thinks he's turning back to the light.

Honestly, making Snoke a "genetic creation" or whatever was beyond goofy, almost Saturday morning cartoon level. Just reveal he was a dark side disciple working under Palpatine and you could have still tied him to the story they tried to tell in this.

Something that struck me as I’ve thought about it more is how the progression of time and character development really seemed ignored or forgotten in the ST films. In the OT each of the characters particularly Luke. He’s at different stages, his demeanor, clothing, hair. Personality and confidence changes throughout the films. By ROTJ he’s a Jedi Knight and you see that and believe it. Even in the PT Anakin and Obi evolve through each film through appearance and character. In these newer films I don’t recall the timeline but you could say it all seems to take place immediately after one another. Rey is the exact same from FA to ROTS. Same outfit, same hair, same everything. The only character whose appearance or character has any development seems to be Leia.

You know, seeing how Abrams went out of his way to pretty much recton TLJ as much as possible, it's a shame that he never decided to resurrect Luke. I would have gladly taken a Luke resurrection over the Emperor's (let alone establishing Snoke as nothing more than a puppet/tool for the Emperor).

Why did it mean something before when Snoke apparently wasn't much of a character? Why does it matter that he killed someone who as far as I know didn't really matter that much as a character?

I think JJ made Snoke a clone because it can be revealed and explained and understood quickly and with almost no exposition, and by making Snoke a clone and Sidious his creator it props up the Emperor some more. Plus there is something twisted about it. A woman can birth life. Its one of the most natural and wholesome things a woman can do. What Sidious did was an abomination. A twisted and all around wrong version of what women do naturally and what worse is he deliberately deformed the lifeform that he created. It was even worse than what he did with and to the Kaminoan clones.

My thing was Snoke and the entire controversy about killing him is the very fact that in The Force Awakens, Snoke is a completely uninteresting character and just comes off as a generic Emperor rip-off. Quite frankly he was so uninteresting that when he died I was very happy. If I want to see a character that is like Emperor Palpatine, then I'll just pop in the original trilogy and watch Emperor Palpatine. I would rather we move on and get a more compelling villain then a version that sucks of a better one. The revelation that he is a clone quite frankly didn't move the needle for me one way or the other.

So according to the VD, that planet at the beginning is mustafar.

Having Luke return and be the wise and optimistic Jedi once more was thrilling to see and also makes me incredibly pissed off at the poor representation and disappointment in what Rian did to him in the Last Jedi.

1. Lightsaber [He rescues his father’s saber from fire and talks about the importance of how it should be regarded.]
2. Mastery of the Force {Lifting his X-Wing out of the ocean} excellent callback to Empire Strikes Back
3. Wisdom & Understanding
Revealing to Rey that both he and his Sister Leia knew of her lineage to Palpatine and yet they trained her and treated her with trust and compassion.
4. Hope - Rey’s self doubt overwhelms her, and Luke comforts and reassures her that she stronger and she has the support of a thousand Jedi behind her. Showing a true Master and apprentice bond.
