x2 was a beatiful film. right from the get go, nightcrawler's storming of the white house was just wonderful. they managed to effectively combine elements from god loves, man kills, wolverine's super beserker tendencies, a la issue 133, the death of pheonix, and other areas. yes, cyclops was never given proper due in the movies (the greatest offense being his imediate, ambiguous death in the horrid x3), and storm was pretty lame, but otherwise i think x2 is excellent. wolverine, magneto, mystique, stryker, nightcrawler, jean, even pyro and rogue, were plenty of well-done characters for me. i really liked first class except (and forgive me for applying my overly sensitive racial politics) the one xman who dies is african american, and the one who instantly turns to evil is of ambiguous (other-than-white) ethnicity. given the genesis of the xmen, born from martin luther king/malccolm x splits in philosiphies, i think first class, especially given when it was set, could have spoken more relevantly to this. nonetheless, i thought it was excellent, particularly the relationship between prof x and magneto. i agree with an earlier poster, though; why not have the original five xmen be a part of it?
