Fox really does ruin everything.

I still think Singer missed a lot of opportunities by straying so far from the source material. I still give the films props because they're good and they helped pave the way for having superhero films be taken seriously, but still... as a whole I don't feel the X-Men franchise lives up to how awesome the X-Men truly are.

x2 was a beatiful film. right from the get go, nightcrawler's storming of the white house was just wonderful. they managed to effectively combine elements from god loves, man kills, wolverine's super beserker tendencies, a la issue 133, the death of pheonix, and other areas. yes, cyclops was never given proper due in the movies (the greatest offense being his imediate, ambiguous death in the horrid x3), and storm was pretty lame, but otherwise i think x2 is excellent. wolverine, magneto, mystique, stryker, nightcrawler, jean, even pyro and rogue, were plenty of well-done characters for me. i really liked first class except (and forgive me for applying my overly sensitive racial politics) the one xman who dies is african american, and the one who instantly turns to evil is of ambiguous (other-than-white) ethnicity. given the genesis of the xmen, born from martin luther king/malccolm x splits in philosiphies, i think first class, especially given when it was set, could have spoken more relevantly to this. nonetheless, i thought it was excellent, particularly the relationship between prof x and magneto. i agree with an earlier poster, though; why not have the original five xmen be a part of it?

Fox needs to get their act together.
Lol so what about the studio that made green lantern,oh I forgot its hip and cool to hate Fox on the internet hence people jump on the hate bandwagon.Im sure people blame Fox for the Jonah hex and catwoman disasters

I'm sure they do.

Yup! :woot:

Rebooting Spider-Man is Sony's biggest mistake.

A baseless statement if ever I heard one. Jury's out at this point still. At least we have hope that the Raimi cheese will be gone. No more Tobey "I can't do funny to save my life" Maguire making Spidey mopey.

So you want funny spidey but less cheese.Good luck with that

so really we hate Fox because the X-movies were faithful to the comics?????
what comic movie was faithful to the comics?
Every superhero movie has deviated from the comics.
Calling Fox out on it is pretty stupid

Cheese = attempts at humor that aren't funny. The Raimi films were chalked full of that kind of stuff. But having humor that works in your movie? Of course we should want that.

+1000

While I do own the Spider-Man trilogy on Blu-ray, I'm looking forward to this new take on the character.

Spider-Man should be funny, without being cheesy. In the comics, he's right up there with The Human Torch for smart@$$ness :woot:

he's also pretty cheesy in the comics too

To me cheesy is that stupid "Did your husband make it for you?" joke from SM1. In other words, an attempt at humor that fails and isn't funny. Spidey in the comics is funny sure but most of his humor works. So in that sense he's not cheesy.

I'm surprised there are any doubters about Fox being the Devil.

I don't think you read this thing i wrote, but i assure that it did happen:
Lord said:
Funny for you to say that because the other day i noticed that while watching tv after a comercial a fast red image suddenly appeared during a milisecond, i tried to see what it was by using my controler to go back to that moment and when i was finally able to stop the image and see what it was i found out it was the 20th century Fox logo darkened and red.
I was kind of:
They were Right!!! Fox IS the devil :oldrazz:

I would love nothing more than for Marvel to get back the rights to their characters. It seems "unfair" that Fox and Sony are profiteering off of them at this point. However if it wasn't for Fox and Sony there would probably be no Marvel studio's right now.

In the 90's Marvel were bankrupt. The only thing that saved the company was their characters. I remember at one point on CNN they were even talking about how Marvel may have to sell off their characters to survive. Spider-Man to DC, Fantastic Four to Image, etc. Ridiculous as it sounds now.

Now think back to before 2000. All comic book movies were low budget, low performing jokes really. Sure there was the occasional movie like Batman in 1989 but for the most part just look at the list of comic movies before 2000. Blade was made and it was a success but wasn't a Superhero movie as much as it was an action movie. Most of the people who saw it had no idea Blade was a Marvel character.

So Marvel sells the movie rights to X-Men and Spider-Man and it proved to be a game changer. Gone were the low budget parody movies and instead we got major summer tentpole releases based on Superhero's. I can tell you as a comic collector in the 80's and 90's it was a dream come true to see the X-Men and Spider-Man on the big screen. It was thanks to the success of those movies and other superhero movies that Marvel was able to get the funding to be able to make their own movies. If it wasn't for Fox and Sony's X-Men and Spider-Man then there would be no Thor, Captain America, Iron Man or Avengers movies now, at least not released by Marvel.

My hope is that Marvel can reatain the rights to their characters soon but people need to release what an important part Fox and Sony played.

I'm torn. Fox superhero films have mostly been underwhelming but Marvel Studios is nowhwere near as great as some fanboys make them out to be. Hell, Marvel's Red Skull is almost as lame as Fox's Doctor Doom.

Not even remotely close. I can see the argument of him being a little hammy, but Red Skull is miles ahead of the wreck that was Doom.

Doom was a wreck but at least he did more than just stand around and look annoyed.

Red Skull was way better than doom due to Red Skull being actually being threatening and menacing.

Red Skull took out a city in Norway, betrayed the Nazi's, and Forced American Soldier into labor until he killed them.

Yep, not even close.

IMO while Red Skull was more menacing than Doom...I felt the problem with Red Skull in Cap was the movie seemed like it wanted to rush past the 1940's and get to the present.

I'm not saying Skull couldn't have been written a lot better, just that he's not nearly as bad as Doom was.

Red Skull was written like a cold hearted bastard who cared for nothing in the world but power. He was written like that for 2 reasons:

- That's how he is in the comics. They didn't want to stray away from that.
- It was also an allusion to similar villains of the older black and white films of 40s.

I agree that he could've been written better, but I felt Red Skull was a good villain and way better than Doom.

The "blow up Hydra's crap" montage didn't do Cap or Red Skull any favors.
