Sequels "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum? - Part 1

There is also Angel who is (at least) 16, which means he was born even before they change the timeline.

An easy fix for that to be is that while it was Worthington III in the original timeline, this time it could be Worthington II, with them just making his bigot father in the original timeline the dude who flies in the new timeline.

Do you mean "lazy" fix?

Angel's kid, Moira's daughter, Toad's skin, Trash's Kid, Emma's sister... The fans should just realize that the timeline is just a mess instead of coming up with cringeworthy excuses.

The movies are good. I love them. But the timeline is simply a mess. There is no excuse for that.

No, not lazy. Most of the examples you listed can be fixed with your own headcanon, but the above idea is simple and better than Terrence Howard just becoming Don Cheadle or Edward Norton picking up enough pounds to become Mark Ruffalo. Yeah, the timeline is trash, your right, let's just enjoy each movie for its own.

is this conversation still going on? The only thing that's set in time for the original timeline is one 5 minute scene in 2023 featuring Wolverine, Beast, Shadowcat, Colossus, Rogue, Iceman, Storm, Jean, Cyclops and Professor X. Everyone else is fair game for any time period after the time travel. This has been explained so many times
:bdh:

This conversation just makes me want Fox to wipe out the OT timeline

And if he's referred to as Warren Worthington III in the movie?

Howard to Cheadle and Norton to Ruffalo are recast. That's very different than the continuity errors of the X-franchise.

Anyway, like we said, the movies are but the timeline is awful.

It'll be unfortunate and hopefully they just refer to him as Warren Worthington, I, II or III be damned.

I agree with you but will also Ian Malcolm you for those are points of discontinuity from a mathematical sense because you have two different values for a limit when you go from the left (watch the series in correct) or right (watch the series in reverse).

They essentially have.

Nah they just created an alternate timeline parallel to the OT one. If they really got rid of the timeline, as in like it never happened, then people need not get worked up about characters' (Angel, Emma Frost etc.) ages matching up to the OT

It's a hand-wavy reboot. They're pretending it hasn't been rebooted but can retcon whatever they want to suit the story.

But Warren Worthington III is Angel. I don't think random timeline things most people don't care about (particularly established in a movie people don't like) is going to affect things.

And Wolverine is short, Nick Fury is white, Dr. Octopus doesn't form a paternal bond with Peter Parker and Batman doesn't ever push a Penguin thug down a chimney whilst said thug has a bomb strapped to him.

If you want to say it's a small complaint, sure, I'll agree. But so is whether it contradicts a movie 10 years ago that no one really likes and has been at least partially rebooted. I'd rather have Warren Worthington III and ignore X-Men: The Last Stand than have Warren Worthington II (because I saw his dad in the movie and he wasn't that great of a character).

Judging by how they haven't tried to explain continuity issues like that in these movies I'd guess you won't have to worry about them trying to pass him off as anyone but warren worthington unless they attempt to not have him mentioned by name so they can do a sabertooth/victor trick where they are almost 2 different characters

Channing Tatum Closes His 'Gambit' Deal
The move, which was widely expected, contradicts reports that appeared last week suggesting the actor would exit the project after failing to come to terms with Fox.

Sources say that Tatum and the studio did hit a sensitive spot in negotiations, but such back-and-forth is a normal part of top-level talent dealmaking. The Magic Mike star's participation hardly was in any real danger because the actor already had invested quite a bit in the superhero part. Tatum has been attached to the movie (loosely then officially) as both actor and producer for a few years and even made a surprise appearance at Fox’s X-Men panel at Comic-Con in July.

One thing that needed figuring out was the extent of Tatum’s involvement in the X-Men universe. Fox sees Tatum’s Gambit, a mutant who harnesses kinetic energy, as one of the anchor characters of the X-universe, akin to Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, someone who would anchor his own movies and appear in numerous others. It’s a commitment that could theoretically last more than a decade. (Jackman has been portraying Wolverine since 2000, for instance.)

This was nothing more than Tatum negotiating through the press. He was never going to drop out of the movie.

Yay! Now to hum the original X-Men tv show theme: DuhduhduhduhdudDUH duhduhduhduhduhDUH!

Say, I barely remember any of that show, but I do remember an episode where Gambit and some girl (Jubilee? probably not, but maybe) were in a train tunnel and a train came and they hugged the wall I think...

I'm surprised that so many people jumped on the "he's leaving" bandwagon so quickly (well not really). Intense contract negotiations, with ploys like this, are hardly uncommon in Hollywood.

Glad things got sorted out, I knew he hadnt officially left, even all the reports said things could still be patched up, and I am glad they are. Just hope they reduce the budget now to $100 million or something. IMO the character just doesnt justify a $150 million budget on his own.

Can someone please post a celebratory gif on my behalf?

I'm soooooo happy :)
