Given how Tatum had been pushing for this movie it's more likely he will come back onboard then it is him walking away and not coming back

I agree.

I'm not so sure about the tax thing. I also don't think Gambits powers require drastically more effects than Wolverine, especially when you consider that Wolverine is a more bankable character with a more bankable star. There's no reason the two should have comparable budgets. Again, Gambit is a small time theif from New Orleans.
Depends on the other mutants in the film as well.

I understand and respect that some do not like the budget talk as there are some things that I dislike conversing about. Personally I like talking about budgets and box office.

That doesn't mean that I can stop a studio from spending what they are going to spend but I do find it to be fascinating when studios spend tons of money on super risky projects and are surprised when not as much money is made or the films outright flop. I know that hits can't really be predicted but some movies you just know are going to fail. A 264 million dollar budget for a John Carter adaption is insane and asking for trouble and yet Disney spent that amount. It cost 300 million before tax breaks! I'm sorry but stuff like that is fascinating to me.

I'm not trying to rub anything in though, if someone doesn't like the topic they don't. I'm going to still talk about it but I'm not doing it out of spite or anything.

That would be stupid and nasty.Anna is an amazing actress, and in the Rogue cut she is fantastic and gorgeous.

Stop recasting.

Well, given the timeline, since Rogue likely isn't even born yet when Apocalypse takes place, I'm assuming she wouldn't be able to play Rogue in the Gambit movie, unless they jump way forward in the timeline.

I don't mind if they recast Rogue. At all.

I'm not opposed to it either but I would prefer they try and bring Anna back. People are still connected to the original cast and she clearly has a fan base that like her in the roll, enough so we got another cut of Days of Future Past.

It makes no sense to recast Rogue in the past, they want to further **** this franchise up??

Take cover!!! OT cast fanatics incoming!!!
Believe me, I ducked.

At the very least I think it would be nice to move the character closer towards her comic book counterpart and make her not whiney and helpless. I guess I should give up on that dream though.

Paquin's version of Rogue being with a cool version of Gambit does not sound interesting to me.

Recast Rogue so she becomes another Emma Frost/SilverFox?

IMO Anna would nail comic-booky Rogue, but I digress...

Does anyone else see the irony of Majik complaining about the people mentioning the budget and it's opened up a whole discussion about the budget?

This and the irony of people who whine about people who whine.

I hope to not see Rogue at all, and her second billing in the credits for Days of Future Past was just an absurdity. The translation of that character was one of the worst in comics films, but at least in the first X-men she was a somewhat effective McGuffin (though the suitcase in Pulp Fiction had more range) but she was an annoying time sink in the others. Not sure what period in which the Gambit film will be set, but most likely they will line it up to take place before the next X-men which current patters continuing will probably be early 90s so Rogue would not fit in the timeline anyways.

I'm curious about who they will get for Gambit now the Channing Tatum dropped out. Taylor Kitch filled the role well and it was hardly his fault that the movie they debuted him in sucked, so I think he should be a possibility.
Norman Reedus might also work.
Going younger Liam Hemsworth or Taron Edgerton might be able to pull it off.
I saw a French actor named Gaspard Ulliel also being mentioned and he certainly looks the part.
Still I see Tom Hardy as one of only a few with the raw charisma to bring the character to life.

At this point the continuity is so screwed up and the timeline so full of nonsense that they can basically do whatever they want and say, "because time travel!" and fans will buy into it. So yeah, they could do whatever they please with rogue.

I just take the stance the original trilogy is the original trilogy, we have what's looking like a better trilogy with an equally talented cast despite not having some of the best characters yet (Colossus, Iceman, Kitty). So I don't care if they don't follow it

He hasn't officially dropped out. If he does I don't want Kitsch back

As for Rogue I don't really care. I liked Anna Paquin, even as a naive rogue that doesn't represent the comic counterpart, I thought she helped develop Wolverine's character, but if they don't use her oh well

A simple recasting is hardly screwing up continuity anyways.

That was because of the lack of creativity of the writers and director. Even in Days of Future Past they had a perfect opportunity to give her an action scene and all they could come up with was having her run away from danger. Rogue could still be awesome on film if done right, you just need someone with enough creativity and knowledge of the character.

I wouldn't mind recasting Rogue at all if it meant fixing her character and moved her away from being a timid wimp.

They have an easy continuity fix because of DOFP. They should just ignore anything that happened to this point outside of First Class and the past sequences in DOFP. Completely wipe out the original trilogy, the two Wolverine movies, and the future sequences from DOFP.

Yeah sure.

this isnt just about being fans of the Ot cast...(I dont even watch their Tv shows) its keeping the continuity. Besides Anna Paquin is highly recognizable as Rogue in these films so I just cannot for a recast unless she turns down the offer to return.

This is a new timeline yo. For all we know rogue has newer powers, more badass etc I hope they bring her in and showcase that.

^ Yes.

1. It's Gambit's background, which may involve no X-Men at all.

2. Paquin's already got an established character present in 2023 and it's an alternate (rogue-er?) version of the one we've seen before.
