Great choices to play the female lead I would love Lea but after seeing Ferguson in Mission Impossible i wouldn't mind seeing her in more movies

Rebecca Ferguson as a blonde:

I think it will be out of rebecca and lea but i hope its not rebecca because i want her for dccu ;).

Still no gambit sub-forum?

Can't go wrong with either Lea or Rebecca. Lea would be ideal, but after seeing MI5, Rebecca would be just as awesome too.

Rebecca Ferguson was my #1 choice (seriously, she's awesome and they didn't waste any time trying to scoop her up). But then I thought about it more and two things stuck out to me:

1. The Carol Danvers job is still open as far as I know.

2. There's such a French/Cajun aesthetic to Gambit and his mythology.

So I actually think that Lea Seydoux might be a better choice for this particular part (plus she's a good actress herself, and a MI alumni). Let Rebecca play Captain Marvel.

Sweet! Look forward to seeing Belladonna, and glad she's allegedly the Female lead. Ferguson was amazing in MI5, would be a great move if they can get a deal with her.

[BLACKOUT]Wade doesn't know she's a mutant till later in the comic Deadpool history. It's not something that needs to happen right away. They can use it as a twist. Especially if they start getting into X-Force stuff later, in which she starts as a villain impersonating Domino. [/BLACKOUT]

Also, the Deadpool film now has 2 female mutant characters who were not in the original script. So at least there will be some ass kickers.

So yet another case of:
don't worry, we'll get to it eventually, maybe. Just wait. I'm getting really tired of studios constantly doing that (I don't like it when Marvel does it, looking at you Ant-Man, and I don't like it here. The fact that it's almost always female/minority characters who get the "well possibly do it in the future, maybe" treatment only makes it worse (the X-films not so great track record when it comes to female characters doesn't help either, they haven't earned the benefit of the doubt in that regard). And it's a waste of Morena Baccarin to boot. Enough with the "maybe sort of, in the future" nonsense, just do it NOW for once.

I think Lea is more suited for Bella Donna.... but Rebecca was just awesome in Rogue Nation, like if she replaces Anna Paquin as Rogue, I wouldn't be against it. I feel like Rebecca is more suited to a bigger role, than a love interest that would probably only appear in 1 film.

And I really hope they make Bella Donna a mutant. I'm already having an issue with Vanessa not having her mutant powers in the Deadpool film.

But dude, barely anyone except for Deadpool fans even knew who Copycat was. Nessa was never being demanded. Most people on this board had to ask or wiki. And again, in the comics she is not a mutant right away when Wade and her are dating. That switches things up a lot in that relationship. Her first appearance was even a twist cause she was technically Domino. This also isn't an X-Men film where they have a big budget. They had to scrap Garrison Kane cause he was too expensive with the arm morphing effects, and it's been confirmed they had budget cuts. [/BLACKOUT]
[BLACKOUT]

I personally would have preferred Morena as Domino. And yeah, everyone needs to start getting their female characters under control. I can't believe it's taken this long for Harley friggin Quinn,Wasp or Wonder Woman to show up, or that DOFP killed one of the most ineteresting and powerful female characters off screen in a throw away line. [/BLACKOUT]

But yeah, Ferguson would be awesome.

So then if the female lead is Bella Donna, then is it too unreasonable to assume that her brother, Julien, is going to be the main villain and probably somehow a mutant, either that or Gambit's powers are going to be severely downplayed or somehow neutered throughout the film? In that case, though, making this a film about the New Orleans Assassins Guild, this might end up becoming competition for Assassin's Creed... which stars Michael Fassbender.

I haven't seen Rogue Nation yet but I'm itchin' to.

That said from the trailers I had thought she was much older, like 40's. Was much impressed with the MI franchise for giving this, at that time what I thought was, this much older woman (I laugh at that as I type this as Sir Thomas Cruise is in his 50s) a leading lady role.

She's only 31...FML. She's my age.

Fox is making both films and they are months apart. Lotta Spy films this year but they don't seem to hurt one another due to still being very different films.

Yeah I was surprised by that, she looks way older.

But nonetheless, she was really good in that movie.

Ferguson was great in Mission Impossible. So great that I'd want her for a bigger role. (She woulda been a great Black Widow)

I'm seeing it today.

I had the same thought about her, though. When the first trailer came out, I thought she was much closer to Cruise in age. I was surprised/delighted. Funny enough, once I realized her actual age I could no longer "see" her as the previous age I thought she was. It's like my brain and sight adjusted accordingly to the information. :p

This is gonna ruin my first viewing of MI5 isn't it? :csad:

I know, weird. The fact that I knew The Departed was a remake of a Hong Kong film ruined my initial viewing of that film. It's now one of my top 10. :oldrazz:

How was it? I'm seeing it tonite.

I'm impartial about the other two, but I really hope Léa Seydoux isn't cast. Every role I've seen her in so far she's been very wooden. Since it's Channing Tatum as Gambit, they're going to need an actress with extensive emotional range to balance him.

Ya keep saying this Majik, how are you sure about that after we just seemed to have confirmation?

Now that Channing Tatum has been set for Fox’s Rupert Wyatt-directed X-Men spinoff Gambit, the studio is working on locking his female lead. This is a hotly contested job, the role of Belladonna Boudreaux aka Bella, and they’ve got a trio of the best and brightest testing next week.

I vaguely recall the Thieves guild & Assassins guild stories from the cartoon. Wouldn't Belladonna be the love interest/antagonist if they are using her?

Then who? Rogue?:barf:
Not in this film, but some day. :awesome: Would be great if we got a classic powers Rogue who was sassy/sexy and not demure (with 90's costume) together with Gambit.

It makes more sense to tie the love interest to his theif origin rather then introduce one that doesn't fit in that world like rogue
