Great. Now that this is sorted Fox can focus on getting Lea Seydoux as Belladonna.
I don't even know what that means.
He came off pretty well showing Stan Lee respect enough to help him off the stage, and he's shown nothing but love for the character either.
Yes.Great. Now that this is sorted Fox can focus on getting Lea Seydoux as Belladonna.
I think enough will be there, I mean it's not like the characters are made for each other the way Gambit and Rogue are.The question do you think she and Tatum have enough chemistry on-screen?
Yep.If any X-Men is going to be the new Wolverine, Gambit probably has the best chance. He's that charming rogue character that audiences seem to love.
I don't disagree. I was more responding to the idea that Tatum will have a Jackman like role in the X-men series. Gambit just doesn't have that role in the comics and I can't see it being in the movie. The idea of Gambit being a teacher at a school and following some headmaster's orders was ridiculous in the comics (it didn't work in Wolverine and the X-men and that's what his great solo was responding to). He's worked best recently solo and in All New X-Factor. He should have been on Madrox's X-Factor team. He's a solo character even when he's on a team, which is why I can't see him having a Wolverine-like role in the franchise.
But, like, does it matter? We don't even know what type of movie is being made so why are we judging the budget?
If whether or not a production needs a certain budget when it's more than capable of handling a much smaller budget it always does in the long run. Sure it's a risk that COULD pay off. But for a debut film for a character that's more known in a supporting capacity by merely relying on the star power of an actor doesn't seem that wise. Gambit is a thief in New Orleans. I have no idea what plans they have for him, but if a $150 million dollar budget is going towards something that doesn't fit with what a Gambit scaled movie justifies it's just a misstep. A smart studio knows how to spend on a movie. This just seems careless. Tatum might be a star, but not a make twice your $150 million budget back guaranteed star.

Tatum has to be the only guy in history considered too muscular for his comic book role. Maybe he'll get a bit more lean for the shoot, but it's not that big a deal.

Yes.
Only thing I'm curious about is how well she sounds speaking English.
Fox sees Tatums Gambit, a mutant who harnesses kinetic energy, as one of the anchor characters of the X-universe, akin to Hugh Jackmans Wolverine, someone who would anchor his own movies and appear in numerous others. Its a commitment that could theoretically last more than a decade. (Jackman has been portraying Wolverine since 2000, for instance.)
This was probably the sticking point. Perhaps Tatum felt like this was a little too much, at least right now.

One problem with that is there are too many instances that points out that Victor and Sabertooth are the same person. For starters:
-The way Sabertooth kept Wolverine's dog tags throughout X1. He recognized the name on those tags considering that he was secretly present for Wolverine's weapon X experiment and saw Stryker create those dog tags for Wolverine.
-The way Sabertooth dodged Cyclops's optic laser beams after he ambushed Wolverine and Rogue. Sabertooth recognized Cyclops from when he attacked him at his high school and saw what he could do which explains how Sabertooth knew when to jump out of the line of fire.
Lastly,
-The way Sabertooth is smitten with Storm. There's an extended version of the scene in Origins where Wolverine walks away from Victor after he quits Team X and Storm enters the scene. She's the little blond-haired black girl standing in front of Victor as they watch Wolverine walk away and in X1, we see Sabertooth be infatuated with Storm in a serial killer-type of way.
Just because Victor wasn't being called Sabertooth in Origins, it doesn't mean he's not Sabertooth just like how Venom in Spider-Man 3 wasn't called by that name in the movie even though he looks like Venom.
Awesome.She speaks English very well.
Seydoux went to Summer Camps in Maryland for six years as a kid which is where she learned to speak English.

I totally understand your complaints. I don't want another white dude to replace Hugh Jackman as the focus of the franchise. I don't think any character should have that role again. But I think it's too early to be really concerned. I just can't see Gambit taking on that role. He's a loner who never really became a leader (unlike Wolverine). I can't see Tatum committing nearly as much as Jackman. And Gambit won't even be in the next X-men movie, we can't be sure that his movie will be successful, and who knows when he'll cross over.
Just as I was relieved that HJ was retiring, Fox wants another white dude to dominate and hug all the screen time, and to be the most important X-men ever. If they let Storm, Jean, Cyclopes and other X-men and especially X-women continue to be nothing but window dressing, I'm putting this franchise in the same black hole that I put the DC movies.
The X-men, an allegory for all the ism in the world mostly suffered by non white men continues to be all about white men and everyone else (mostly women and non white dudes continue to be throw away characters i.e Xmfc, dofp). Very ironic, sadly funny and true to real life.
I love the X-men and I loved XMFC but I'm not going to ignore this stuff anymore. I have to draw the line somewhere.

Fox's Johnny Storm is black (with a white sister).
Storm's on her fifth film and has had good reception.
Gambit's not your typical white man. He's Southern (Cajun) with French heritage.
All those blue mutants are a metaphor for non-white, non-mainstream.
A few Asian heroes now (Blink, Jubilee, Psylocke).
And I think what is missing is the Latino population. Some support for Hispanics!! Come on Fox!!!!

Calisto was cast as an actress with Dominican decent.![]()
