Isn't he part Native American?

Fox's Johnny Storm is black (with a white sister).
Storm's on her fifth film and has had good reception.
Gambit's not your typical white man. He's Southern (Cajun) with French heritage.
All those blue mutants are a metaphor for non-white, non-mainstream.
A few Asian heroes now (Blink, Jubilee, Psylocke).

And I think what is missing is the Latino population. Some support for Hispanics!! Come on Fox!!!!

X-Men has more diversity than any other CBM franchise.

A lot of fans (including myself) want to see more women and minorities in essential and integral roles in the franchise, not just as one-off, disposable minor characters.

To be fair The X-Men has the most diverse line up in comics.

Other companies would have to race change popular heroes to get close to the diversity the X-Men have and we all know that tends to cause a fuss for some folks.

New Mutants are coming and if they're going with the 80's team, there are a lot of diversity there.

I don't think it makes sense for them to be an 80s team. They'll be roughly the age of the rest of the X-Men if that were the case. It would make more sense for them to be a modern team who are replacements for the X-Men.

I figured the New Mutants would be more of a 90s thing. I honestly don't see it being purely New Mutants characters though, I see it being a combination of NM and Generation X characters.

Depends I guess since they may want to do a cross over with the original team and the new mutants

But I doubt It since fox doesn't plan that far ahead

I'm confused. You're talking about the time period or the characters? Because I was talking about the diversity of this 80's team:

I don't think Gambit is going to be the new Wolverine in the sense that he's the focal character...I think he's going to be the new Wolverine in the sense that he's that type of angry, violent loner in contrast to several of the other characters. I think we'll see Storm start as sort of the new Wolverine, and soften through her interaction with the X-Men. Ditto Scott. I think Gambit is being set up to be the new Wolverine of a new trilogy.

I agree. I don't want one character dominating what is supposed to be a team. I think a good balance of characters who each get their moment to shine is what I would prefer.

Making the X-Men overly reliant on one character doesn't help the franchise in the long run.

But making Marvel Studios completely reliant on Robert Downey Jr. to pull in billion dollar movies does?

No, on diversity, we need a Punjabi Sikh X-Man, played by Waris Ahluwalia.

If they do pull an Old Man Logan for Wolverine 3, how would you feel about Gambit playing the role Hawkeye did in the graphic novel?

That's a cool list. I'd be fine with any of them (although Rebecca Ferguson is my #1 choice).

But I want Rebecca for Captain Marvel! :argh: :oldrazz:

Interesting. An alleged $150m budget yet they're saving money on the female lead.

Rumor also has it that Copycat is just a human in the Deadpool film (as opposed to being a mutant). That'd be disappointing (especially given that Morena Baccarin is playing her, and Morena is awesome).

That works to. But like I said, if they cast any of them I'd be happy. Lea Seydoux is probably my #2 option (she's even French after all).

You can even see it in the recent Spectre trailer (she's the main female lead in that film). She has dialogue in the trailer, and she can speak English just fine. Also, she was in Robin Hood and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

Sweet! Look forward to seeing Belladonna, and glad she's allegedly the Female lead. Ferguson was amazing in MI5, would be a great move if they can get a deal with her.

[BLACKOUT]Wade doesn't know she's a mutant till later in the comic Deadpool history. It's not something that needs to happen right away. They can use it as a twist. Especially if they start getting into X-Force stuff later, in which she starts as a villain impersonating Domino. [/BLACKOUT]

Also, the Deadpool film now has 2 female mutant characters who were not in the original script. So at least there will be some ass kickers.

Is is possible for Gambit to have its own forum now that the film is going into production?

Progress is going forward on casting. Nice. Also nice to get confirmation of Bella Donna.

I couldn't help it, but yeah, her english is good.
