Sequels "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum? - Part 1

Not saying Rogue should feature in an Assassin's Guild story and what could turn out to be an origin story. Not to mention Rogue needs to be re-established in this post DoFP X-verse also. Though I do hope to see that relationship at some point when Gambit starts interacting with the X-men and they re-introduce Rogue.

Also depends when the film is set though tbh, i mean if we carry on with the new cast in more movies they may want to throw gambit in to one of those movies

and i know people will say that it has to be with rogue but much of the same thing could be argued with alot of the decisions with FC to Apocalypse with some of the characters they chosen to put in the past which no one would have expected like psylocke

we probably won't find out for a while though

Yeah, they could go in totally the opposite direction and have similarly veered far away from the source material before. It doesn't stop fans from calling for elements they'd like to see from the comics though. Hell before and after every X-movie fans often ask for better costumes.

I know, weird. The fact that I knew The Departed was a remake of a Hong Kong film ruined my initial viewing of that film. It's now one of my top 10.

I dont think Ferguson fits the role, looks way older than Channing Tatum and more mature. She would be better fit for Carol Danvers. They should go with Lea or the other chick.

I'm not a fan of the Assassin's Guild angle. Wasn't the greatest storyline imo in the cartoon, but I'm willing to give it a chance since it could be adapted differently. Plus it's not like they can just jump right into the 'trial of Gambit'. That's more of a X-men team story and you ideally need to have Gambit as an established team member than some newbie imo.

I heard that the origin story of Deadpool is in flashbacks in the movie. I have no idea if this is true tho.

I dont think the Thieves and Assassins Guild story would work as flashbacks, but count me in that prayer circle. I hope it's not the storyline.

I think it's gonna start off Assassin's Guild-based and then leading into Marauders/Mutant Massacre.

Well, Assassins' Guild is the only Gambit storyline that is really displaced from the greater X-Men universe. They could easily do the film on that while incorporating elements from other storylines. Like, they could take Gambit's mindset from one storyline or fuse in elements or plot beats from other ones all while sticking true to the Assasins' Guild storyline. At the end of it, if Belladonna dies like she does in the comics, well then Gambit leaves New Orleans and you have him set up to appear in the X-Men.

Marauders would be very cool! Though I hope if Fox uses them, they'll appear in future movies especially if Mr. Sinister is associated with them.

Well even if they die, the amount of times Sinister has cloned them in the comics would be good source material to bring them back.

What about a heist style film? You could have Gambit just as a thief in his pre-X-men/bad boy days. Have him committing heists only to be recruited by Sinister who employs him to aquire various things then moves onto having Gambit recruit the various Marauders only for Gambit to realise too late their purpose.
