people are forgeting there is history of GA not being wild about films comic con audences love.

Do people really think the test footage was leaked without any knowledge from fox? and once it did they didn't take it down.it was all a test to see if there
was intrest for deadpool. And there are several factors why deadpool is massive gamble.

R rated
Ryan Reynolds is hardly a box office draw
a first time director

Gambit meanwhile apart from comic book fans is known by people who grew up on 1990's animated show.and has true star with Channing Tatum regardless how people think of him.why else is fox making this film.Tatum has passion for gambit.that endures him to me.

I seriously doudt any other film is getting bashed on budget.

As X-Men fan i look forward to films and TV shows. If MCU and DCCU fans can look forward to all their films and tv with optimusim so can X-Men fans even though with Legion i am puzzled with show focused on him but they will have chance to win me over.

Since we don't know much about gambit it's way too early to start criticing it.

Deadpool is one of the most popular Marvel characters out there and has been for about 5 years now. His film is also one of the most popular on Fox's youtube site, and he has more followers then Wolverines film on twitter.

Deadpool is the draw above all else. The fact it's R has been getting attention because it's humor and tone sets it apart from not just Fox Marvel films but all marvel properties. For better or worse he was such a topic of discussion when X-Men origins came out that Fox announced a solo. Then he had Hulk vs, Ultimate Spider-Man, tons of merch, Marvel vs Capcom, dozens of comics and youtubers like Pewdie Pie giving his solo game a lot of attention. There hasn't been any other X-Men characters other then Wolverine getting that kind of attention. And to top it off, no matter what Fox is not getting a loss here unless it bombs beyond any other comic film we have seen.

While I'm looking forward to the Gambit film, Gambit has been irrelevant in X-Men films, pop culture and comic books for over 15 years. Which is why even his fans have not been enough to keep his comics going.

Various in-development Robin Hood movies are also getting bashed by film journalists for simply being expensive Robin Hood movies. Gambit is hardly unique in that regard. Big budget Gambit? That's going to be a question mark for more than a few people.

Let some of these examples be a lesson, beyond just budget. Just because a character was once popular, doesn't mean they stay popular.

I'm not going to lie, a lot of people I knew thought Nightcrawler was a movie about Jake Gyllenhaal trying to capture the mutant. By a lot, I mean my cousins down in Phoenix, Regina and my friends in Vancouver and Seattle. When I explained to them just how ridiculous that sounded they believed me. They didn't watch the trailer.

The X-Factor title is problematic enough, considering the TV talent show of that name that already exists.

In addition, the Jessica Jones series is already going to cover the investigations aspect of Marvel comics, and we have Agents of SHIELD and Peggy Carter both also doing covert investigations.

So I can see why they went for another type of series altogether.

IMO, they should save X-Factor Investigations to the big screen.

This movie is going to suck donkeyballs. They're gonna start shooting in the spring but its supposed to come out in October. That seems rushed. They don't have a director yet and Tatum can't play Gambit.

Fox would probably save it for 2017 which is not a problem to me. 2 X-Men movies in 2016, 2 X-Men movies in 2017 and 2 X-Men shows in 2016/2017. Its a great time to be a X-Men fan!

And even if Gambit is rushed, it won't suck because of its rushed production... it would suck because of the story.

Wasn't First Class a rushed production? That turned out really well. While I agree the budget seems a bit much, if they can get Liman on board this has a ton of potential. Edge of Tomorrow was a fantastic film and it didn't even have the third act sorted out when it started filming. This has a completed script and one that seems to be getting praise. Tatum is my main concern, but I'm willing to give him and the film a shot.

This is the first actual comment I've seen that could be classified as straight up "hate". But even then, he has reasonable objections. Well, except for the part about Tatum not being able to play Gambit, which he is able to since he will and is an actor and it is his job to play characters whether or not they "suit him".

I don't think he would be great but he would just be fine.

You know what i meant. He's not at all capable of playing the part and he doesn't look like Remy one bit. I'm willing to give him a chance but i expect him to ruin my favorite character.

That's an over-generalization if I've ever seen one.

There's plenty of times where Gambit resembles Channing Tatum I'm sure.

Solid Snake used to look like Harrison Ford. Hugh Jackman doesn't really look like Wolverine. These men and women are actors, they aren't supposed to be made for the role that they are playing. They are supposed to change into that role. Do you think Tobey Maguire is actually like Bobby Fisher? No, he doesn't even look like him. Yet he still played a compelling Fisher. As for Tatum's capability, he is completely capable. He has played comedic characters in great movies (Jump Street movies), great dramatic roles (Foxcatcher) and has starred in a perfectly fine action movies (The Eagle).

It's all subjective of course but i dont think Tatum looks like Gambit.
And Jackman didn't look like Wolverine either but Jackman is a way better actor. Even though his heigt has always been an issue for lots of people. Almost any actor could have played that role in 21 jump street, thats not a difficult role to portray. I haven't seen Foxcatcher but i doubt it will make me change my mind about Tatum. I dont think any role he's played thus far proves he's capable of bringing an iconic character to life.

Dont get me wrong. It's not like i want this movie to suck. I just have absolutely no faith in Fox and Tatum.

I'm not going to go so far as to say this movie is doomed or will "suck donkey balls", but Tatum as Gambit strikes me as out of touch, older film executive thinking at its finest.
"Kids like Channing Tatum, Channing Tatum likes Gambit, bing bang boom."

The problem is without a big name like Tatum attached, I don't see much of any interest in Gambit at all. This movie probably doesn't even happen without him.

Why are Fox considering Shane Black for Gambit? I thought he was doing Predator 4.
