Doug Liman couldve just said he was fired by the new fox ceo.
not 'feeling' the script is nonsense

Apparently Liman left the project before the script was rewritten btw.

The new ceo was at fox for 3 years

How is that nonsense?
Kudos to him for stepping aside if he feels that his heart wouldn't really be in it.

His words aren't gospel and he doesn't speak for everyone. He doesn't even read the comics since 2000 I think and somehow he supported the bad X-Men film that came out last year

Well, I didn't think it was that bad, either.

X-men Apocalypse? That was absolutely terrible bruh. If Channing supported that movie it's only beçause he still wants/wanted to play Gambit.

Yeah, well, sorry. Didn't find it that TERRUBLE.

Eh, thats just hollywood talk. He couldnt say he left cause the ceo didnt like him.

anyway i wont count it as an odd against this movie.

I don't want the films to recreate the animated show, but they should aim to capture the spirit of the key characters in a similar way.

XMA showed that this approach is not Singer's thing, he just can't or won't do it. You can't just suddenly stick Psylocke in a (mostly) comic-accurate costume but give no character development.

The balance/approach is all wrong.

I grew up with the animated series so that show will always be nostalgic to me but the idea that when making these movies they will give extra love to the animated series... doesn't seem likely at all.

I also grew up with the spider-man animated series and i ain't expecting any of the spidey films to take from that show either.

Same with Batman the animated series.

The first X-Men animated series will always hold a spot in my heart too, as although I was an adult when it came out, I was as excited as any kid could possibly have been.

If I'm honest with myself though, I love W&TXM more, but I avoided it at first as I hated the title but eventually I came around and gave it a shot. That series (along with A:EMH and SSM) ended way to early.

you are maing my point.they have been influences from 1990's show.xavier hoover chair in doofp and jubilee in apocalypse were likely because that was first thing bryan singer researched on x-men when he got inoved.

your right both spider-man and batman animated shows popular too and noone except them to make films exactly like that.

i agree.wolverine and x-men despite wolverine made leader is my favorate animated incarnation of x-men.i liked how lineup of team chaanged.one of my critissm of 1990's version was lineup never did.it did better job of doing ongoing story arc.and was able to take advantage of storys from comics introduced after 1992 and 1993 like magneto rulin genosha for one.

yes it,aemh, and ssm all ended too early.

I still wish Wolverine and the X-men had more seasons. It was surprisingly good, even with Wolvie as the leader. That episode where Gambit steals Magneto's helmet is classic. Best version of Gambit i've seen in a long while.

They shouldn't have wasted Psylocke as a villain! Polaris was cool though!

Looks like I need to put a reminder in this thread too....this is the "Gambit" starring Channing Tatum? thread....it is NOT the let's complain about other posters thread.

Does anyone know that youtube channel Whatculture? They just released a video about the 10 stupidest X-men and Gambit was number 1. Their explanation is completely stupid and they don't even know how his powers work but somehow Gambit is the worst X-man.

This is exactly why we need a good incarnation of Gambit on the big screen. People don't even know the guy anymore, he's starting to become a joke. I've seen several youtubers hating on him without even knowing and or understanding the character. Some people still think he's french for god's sake! Please Fox, just put him in a team movie, cast a competent actor and make him the F'in awesome character we all know and love. He deserves it!

That show was freakin awesome. I am still mad they didn't get to do Age of Apocalypse season they set up for.

Any news on this at all? I dont even remember the last time I heard anything from it.

I actually predicted this but everyone dismissed my clairvoyance.

I am convinced we will get this movie at some point.

Only way i can see the possibility of it not happening is if Channing Tatum leaves the project and i think it would take alot for that to happen.

I personally dont see Tatum as Gambit... his body is too buff. Unless he does a "sacrifice for the art" kind of thing...

Anyway I do hope this movie gets made... but I doubt it will in the next few years

Yeah, he would definitely need to slim down a bit, but I've heard worse choices for the role. It's a shame that Kitsch has such bad luck with his films. He was perfect for the role, in my opinion. Tatum is definitely a bigger draw though.
