World Gambit

Hey y'all! Dude, I'm freaked I didn't find this gorgeous thread earlier before posting a Gambit/Remy LeBeau Casting Thread in another section. Anyway, there's one guy I've always wanted to see as Gambit ever since I first spotted him on "Adventures of Sinbad."

This is what he looks like as is, without any fanciful Gambit additions - and he STILL looks amazingly like the Animated Series incarnation (see photos with Wikipedia entry):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zen_Gesner

The second one at the Wikipedia entry linked above is my favorite. Such is my adoration that I tried my shaky hand at making a Zen-Remy manip (didn't come out as well as I hoped but was too tired to try making another):

StaffBoy, eh? Speaking of which, he can audition for me anytime...

Zen Gesner was my #1 pick for Gambit for a long, long time. Sinbad showed he had the full range for the character, the charm, the staff fighting, but now, I just can't see him getting the role, as much as I would still like him to. He's hasn't done jack since that show. Age isn't even an issue, hell, Zen's younger than Holloway. But any notoriety Zen had is gone, and I'm sure the producers would want to put an actor on the cusp of stardom, as Holloway is, in the role of Gambit.

Just read X-men 183 and I tell you Gambit is planing something! He wouldn
t betray the X-men like that, or himself. besides, that line about being listened to is completely bogus since he hasn't said much since the whole Decimation thing began!

I said the same thing in the Horseman thread. He came to Apocolpyse too quickly. The only way they could possibly salvage this is if Gambit went on purpose to try and defeat Apocolpyse from within. (But it doesn't quite look like that's what's going to happen).

Don't count on it. The writer of X-Men after Milligan leaves (Carey) has stated that Gambit won't be in the book after this arc based on Gambit's own decissions and that if he does, it will only be a one time thing and that he and the X-Men will only be former friends (his words meaning ie now enemies) on totally different sides from one another and their meeting will be painful.

They are murdering this character!!!!!! And if only it was a good reasonable story but it makes absolutely no sense!

Yeah, if he has to go, I'd like to see Gambit go with a bang, not a whimper.

I don't want him t go at all!
I barely got used to the idea that he's not going to be in the movies but I comforted myself with the thought that I still get my cajun dose from comics.

Now I won't even have that!!!!!

Oh, believe me, I don't want him to go either. He's my number one. It just burns me up that he's going to go out so lamely. :down

You guys are talking the Apocalypse thing...he's tricky...he's not going anywhere...

But it's bad bad what's happening to him in the X-men title. :(

Yeah, it looks bad, but let's see how it ends first. Maybe it won't suck as much as we think it will.

So far it has sucked far worse then i anticipated. Even if it gets better, the best I can hope for is a low quality story. (as opposed to a total disaster)

Eh, don't worry about that. Gambit will aspire to greatness again.

speaking of the x-men storyline, anybody notice what apocalypse told him in the supplemental story in the back? he said how gambit should've been respected, even led the x-men considering his unique lineage, or something along those lines. well we know he's not the third summers brother, so now im leaning towards him being sinster's son.

I hate that Gambit is now turning into death miiligan gets you amped up and then waits three issues just for the big suprise, Hey dumbass (milligan) we already knew he was becoming death, what a loser.

Yes, i was thinking the same thing. Maybe even some conection to Apocalypse that we didn't know of.
I'm even more tired of Gambit being used by villains to serve their own nefarious plots. Remember when they used him as a power sourse to open that dimensional gate or whatever it was back in XXM. Granted, I thought that was a much better story line, but give the poor guy a break. :(

been a while since i checked this thread out. glad to see it's still going strong.

i'm sorry to hear about what's happening to gambit though.

well, at least i know of a few fantastic gambit fanfics. if anyone wants some info on them to check em out, lemme know. or if anyone knows any good ones to read, i'm all ears. i am tired of reading crappy fanfics, i wanna read some good ones.

Violent much? Hee! I can't think of many instances where Gambit has actually killed anyone himself, he might not be so violent at Death as Apocolypse wants him to be.

then apocalypse does a sucky job of creating horsemen.

Think about it. When Wolverine was Death, how many people did he actually kill? Not too many. :) Not like Enemy of the State.
