Quite simple: how do you think Gambit should be cast? If you have anybody in particular in mind, feel free to name him and/or post his picture. :)

There is already a Gambit casting thread.
This isn't a casting thread - this is a poll on basically what you want to see in Gambit. I've noticed a lot of thread ideas that have been put into both a discussion thread and a poll, so I thought I'd do that here. :)

No love crap with Rogue. As long as that thing is left out, I can deal with just about anyone they cast.

Though I think an older Gambit, somewhere in his early 30's, would be better than a young one. Gambit *isn't* some hotshot whelp and shouldn't be cast as such.

Those options are (...)²

To me, Rogue and Gambit must have something, not a love story, just one or two quick scenes of flirting and the old game of love we all know. But not a drama, something light hearted. One quick joke from him, one look from her, one line from her dissing him when we know she actually is enchanted, that's all I ask. Actually, I think it should rely more on lust than love.

Gambit should be in his late twenties imo. Not a teen, but not a 40.

No Josh holloway.

David Belle for district 13. He has the build, look. He is my choice.

I want a young Gambit. He should be between 23 and 26. He should flirt with Rogue a little but nothing serious. I want to see his debonair attitude and his ruthlesness. I want to see him use his wit and cunning to outsmart enemies.

I want rouge and gambit now that it's iceamn and shadowcat....

No, Rogue+Gambit stuff. We already had this exact same situation with Jean, Cyclops, and Wolverine. It'd be a repeat of that tired old plot-line and it would eat up all of Gambit's screentime. instead of being a major player in the new trilogy, he'll end up as a plot-device that has no purpose or interaction outside of Rogue. To hell with that!

I think the poll isn't complete. I want a younger actor than Josh, but with Rogue, but not since the beggining, maybe at the end of X4.

What do you think about my last post?

Are you really against one or two scenes of flirting?

I wasn't posting that in response to any post in particular. A quick scene put in as an easter egg for comic fans wouldn't hurt anything.

I know you weren't, I just wanted to know your opinion. :)

Well, it is a multiple-choice poll. :) I agree with you on all of the above: I'd like a younger actor and I'd like him to get together with Rogue, but not right away. I think that they should flirt in the 4th movie, but not get together until the 5th movie.

*drools* (That's it, I'm making myself a drooling emoticon just for this purpose!!)

Everything you said is fantastic! (But particularly the part
I stuck in bold lettering.)

I've been thinking about it, and while I honestly can't see movie Rogue
doing Gambit any good long term, it would be a dang shame not to put in a bit of flirting or something. Since the movies, though Wolvie-centric
and everything, are the ultimate be-all-and-end-all of X-Men fandom for some since it's so satisfying to see the characters done in live-action.
Eventhough some characters got dissed in the personality department.

If Romy weren't at least implied in some form, it would be sorely missed by
those of us who enjoy the couple.

Radom thought: And if I could make my own movie, Rogue, Gambit and
all of them would be done justice!:woot:

Oh, it's true, I didn't notice it.

Voted for Gambit&Rogue, but about the age, the poll should have had a third option, late twenties (not a young Gambit, and not a Josh like one either).

But anyway, I'm agreed with your idea, start flirting in X4, with an end where the audience feel they will be together in the next one. You know, I think would be nice a moment in the end of X4, maybe after final battle, where they have a love momment, don't know, something special, something like Logan&Rogue in Liberty Island... but not the same, of course... a beautiful momment... where people can feel something for them...

yes.

flirt with all the girls, but don't jump into a romance w/ rogue....yet

Definitely. I haven't figured out the last scene with those two, but I did figure out the last scene with him (I am writing a bit out-of-sequence, based on which ideas come to me and when). I'm thinking that he'll be roommates with Colossus and Angel. In their room at night, he'll ask if everybody goes by their human names in the X-Men (he'll demonstrate a reluctance to use his real name throughout the movie, telling only Rogue outright). Colossus will say that it's up to each person - he, for example, doesn't care what you call him; but he's known Rogue for going on 5 years and still doesn't know her real name. Gambit says, "Marie." Colossus is like, "What?" Gambit reiterates, "Her name is Marie".

I think that scene would show the connection between Rogue and Gambit. The last person she trusted enough to tell her real name to so quickly was Logan. She didn't even tell Bobby her name until she took the cure. But Gambit, she told within like a week.

PS: I think Gambit should be 24 years old in the movie (obviously, the actor can be a little older or younger). Based on my calculations, Rogue was 21 at the end of the last movie, and will be 22 in my X4. That's not the main reason, though: I also think that making him a little younger would be better for his character in the movies. You can see a few of my ideas for Gambit's introduction into the movies in the What Do YOU Want To See In X-Men 4 thread.

Here's a picture of my ideal Gambit:

Ian Somerhalder

I know he's about 5 years older than my Gambit, but I think makeup would do a fine job making him a believable 24-year old, 'cause five years isn't that much of a difference. I used Paint to put in the red eyes, and also to make him look a little younger to get an idea of what makeup can do. :cwink: I saw him in a TV Guide Channel interview a couple days ago, with his hair a little longer, and he is just the perfect Gambit. I didn't even know this guy before spotting his name in the Gambit casting thread, but I'm completely in love with the thought of him playing Gambit.

Don't see him at all, at least not for Gambit, truly like him a bit more than Josh, but none is Gambit for me. I'd preffer Rodrigo Santoro, but still isn't the exact Gambit, I mean, my ideal Gambit. But at this momment, my known candidate is Santoro, until appears a new actor that screams Gambit all the way.

I used to think Ian Somerhalder, but after seeing more of him in "Lost", I started leaning away. If Ryan Gosling hadn't become such a sleeper hit of an actor, I'd still consider him definitely after seeing Half Nelson. Hmmmm,...

It almost seems pointless now... :(

hold on hold on!
is josh confirmed as Gambit?
does anyone have a link for the rumor

how can they confirm him without even confirming XMen4?

Josh isn't confirmed, was just a news about him being contacted by Lauren S. Donner, but the news didn't say when was that. So we're assuming is an old news, in X3 days.

Actually, he was recently approached by the studio for the role of Gambit, meaning they're planning on using the character sometime soon. I'm thinking they want to secure their Gambit since they want to make him the centerpiece of the new films like Wolverine was for the first 3 movies.
