good god. Lady Stoneheart is coming.

may as well change Ned dying.
openly saying 'yea shes dead' = yep i still have a job... Richard Madden though... he just filed for unemployment and is trying to be the french fryer at Burger King ofthenorth

Michelle Fairley had an interview with EW:

Apparently Catelyn is not coming back.

Link

Not buying it, tbh. Considering all the furor over the fact the character was not included in Season 4, I think it would have been rather uninspired, to say the least, if Fairley came out and said LS will be in S5. I think it's more likely they're trying to get LS out of fans' conscience, so they can make her eventual appearance a surprise. At the same time, I view her as a pretty essential part of both Brienne's and Jaime's arcs, so can't see them cutting her.

Yeah they confirmed it in an interview on June 18. Give me a sec and ill give you the link.

Here it is:

Thanks. If it's 7 they should start planting the seeds for the endgame in season 5. I'd expect season 7 to be stuffed with huge events and resolutions for characters and storylines. Need to starting to get into position now so it's not all on season 6.

How great would it be if GRRM has been working on the books extremely consistently for years and he just releases it Beyonce style

The thing is, we still don't know exactly how much LS will influence Brienne and Jamie's arc. If Jamie ends up surviving the encounter and killing LS for example...then I could see them justifying the cutting of her, because there really wouldn't have been a reason to bring her back.

If Jaime ends up killing her, it will drastically undercut bringing her back.

Yep. Though, really, I can see the people saying that bringing her back undercut the Red Wedding, and to a point, I agree. Especially since her character really hasn't done much of anything thus far.

So... No Lady Stoneheart. Eh. The fanrage has kinda passed for me. She doesn't do a whole lot in the books and if she doesn't in the future then the cutting was justified.

Pretty much what I've been saying. Now, if it turns out that she's involved in a big way, then I'd be pissed. Especially since this season they added many scenes that, while not necessarily bad, were obviously included in order to slow things down and added nothing to the overall plot of the entire series.

He also revealed waaaay back during season 1 that Mago will be a recurring character, but Mago was killed in the tv show by Drogo.

Shame tho, he did say he wouldn't have a Dothraki POV, i think a Dothraki POV would be nice to get a more balanced view on their society.

I think Mel and Thoros will be more important overall than LS.

Eh. They're relative non-players in the story. Soldiers and occasional enemies for Dany, and little more.

The last thing this tale needs is more Points of View that don't seem to go anywhere.

More weddings? So, we know that one will probably be Sansa and Harry the Heir. Another marriage for Daenerys, maybe? Also did he just confirm that she and Tyrion finally meet?

Just finished the first book two nights ago and I loved it. Only problem I had with it is that I think Martin is a bit of a dumbass for making most of the characters so young. Maybe it's because I watched the show first and I have those older actors in my head, but I can't take the kids serious at that age. It's hard to imagine someone who is roughly middle school age leading an army. Or that Joffrey is just about as tall and old as Robb, or was it Jon? That last complaint about Joffrey is a nitpick due to the show of course.

I never liked it either, though I also saw the show first. But in my head I just age them up. The hardest part for me was imagining a 16 year old leading an army and fighting against fully grown men.

But at the same time, this is a world based off Medieval Europe. And in those times, a 16 year old noble who was raised in a castle and taught how to fight from a young age probably could have fought against common soldiers who never received the same kind of training or feeding throughout their life. Just the fact that a noble would have grown up receiving at least three square meals a day would put them leaps and bounds ahead of what some of the common folk of that day and age received.

Still, it is weird. Especially with Danny and Drogo, given that she's only 14. I know stuff like that happened, but it doesn't make it any less gross.

Yeah. Ages ago people married incredibly young usually due to shorter life spans from disease. I still can't get used to it in the books though. I also have been doing what you do with aging them up in your head. I basically ignore the ages of the characters in the books and just keep the visual of the actor from the TV show.

Yep. That's what I do with the teenage characters. It's just weird in many cases imagining them as young as they are.

In some cases I do like the book description of characters more though. A big one for me was Renly. I still don't know why the show portrayed him as they did. I didn't mind them making it all out obvious that he was gay, but I didn't like that they made him kind of dweeby. Renly in the books was supposed to look like a young Robert, strong and powerful (just not quite as big). And he was the kind of guy you'd love to go to a party with. It was obvious why he had so much support in the books. In the show, I didn't know why people wanted to support this guy.

Robert was another. Acting wise, the guy they got was perfect, but I wish they had used camera tricks to make him look bigger. Robert's supposed to be around 6'6. He's a big dude, and even though he's fat, you're supposed to still be able to see how he was a great warrior in his prime. I never got that with the actor they had.

It works within the context of the books but would have been weird to visually see them. Ender's Game for example, in the movie, the actors were fine but it just seemed odd with the kids talking like adults and being in the situations as they were.
