I am the ambulance. The first ambulance and the last. And you're in my way.

Ramsay laced the knife with acid

Mance didn't die... he works in Hogsmeade.

Yea? and what's he doing all those lonely nights with his painting of Lyanna? Huh?

We know that he never married, nor did he show any romantic feelings to any humans or house elves of either gender. :shr:

How is it a stupid cliffhanger? It happens in the books.

To be honest it was stupid in the books too. Not the fact that Jon dies, but the fact that it ends a book... as if there's any real suspense over whether he'd come back. C'mon, GRRM, we're not stupid.

But the books didn't have the added component of the actor still being involved and spotted on set, etc. which made the lame cliffhanger even lamer in the TV universe. It would have been better to have Jon die and come back in one season rather than the way they did it. Or have him die and be honest about the fact that he's coming back, but create a lot of mystery about the how and when. Instead, D&D just forced the actor to feed everyone **** that they knew was false to create a "surprise" that everyone saw coming.

As much as I enjoyed Gambon's Dumbledore (sans Angrydore) I think Ciaran Hinds would have made a great Dumbledore.

That picture of Hinds as Aberforth is more how I imagined Dumbledore.

But would Hinds take as many drugs and Gambon?

Has there still not been any word on what episode McShane is in? Or Thoros for that matter?

Roose, we need your thoughts on these first two episodes of GoT s6, rip them apart!

Yes cause the one thing this thread needs more of is negativity. :o

It's Richard Harris for me, now and always.

It's also why in my head, Grindelwald is Gene Hackman circa 1992.

Careful, Marv.

I hope Roose enjoyed the episodes :o

I'm pretty close with Roose... he told me the knife didn't kill him, he just fell asleep.

This has been a really fast season, it feels... It's already the weekend and episode 3.

I loved Harris, but I couldn't imagine him being the more commanding Dumbledore that had to carry out a fight with Voldemort...which wasn't really Harris' fault. The dude was dying, so that tends to take a bit of the spring out of your step. Harris 10 years younger would have been perfect.

Or, honestly, Ian McKellan. His Gandalf is pretty much the embodiment of how I see DD. He could be the kindly benevolent gramps type, but he also wasn't out of place leading an Army. That's how I saw DD...though with a tad less shouting than Gandalf.

Someone in this thread had to get the goats ready for him. Not naming names or pointing nubs.

I always sort of picture Harris as of Philosophers Stone and Chamber of Secrets as the benevolent aspect in those gentle and mentor scenes, but Harris of Unforgiven/Patriot Games as the kind who'd make Voldemort **** his breeches. If only I had a time machine to make a thing ...

Yeah, you make him 10 to 15 years younger and he would have been spot on to play DD for the whole series. If only...

Gambon wasn't bad, and with the right director he was fine. But it was those movies were he had directors who let him get way too spastic that really bugged me. I'm all for putting your own spin on the character, but stay true to the spirit of who that character is. And Gambon got away from that.

To circle this back to something that's more relevant, I think GOT does a decent job of this...at least with most main characters. The Sand Snakes arc obviously doesn't do this well...and I will say the sequence of Jamie and Cersei and their sex scene that read like a rape scene also was a time they really played against the spirit of the character. Jamie may be a *****e who's done awful things, but he would never hurt Cersei. Most of the awful things he did was directly to protect her.
