Heh...

Forgot she was the one who killed his father.

Great episode. For doing such a major battle on a television budget, it delivered. That and Neil Marshall's awesomness. I was disappointed that we didn't get
Stannis's army saving their asses. Would have made a great end to an episode.

But we'll see what their plan is for this whole episode. There is a lot to get through. I sincerely hope we get
Lady Stoneheart.
I will be incredibly disappointed if we don't.

It almost seems like there is too much to cover in the next episode. Something's got to give.

It's not like the [blackout]Stoneheart[/blackout] reveal would require a tremendous amount of screentime, though.

If the season ends up Dany locking up her dragons I'm going to be pissed off.

It'll end with Dany flirting with Daario, with the will-they/wont-they being the cliffhanger

That would be the most dramatic way to end it after all. It's the ending the fans would want.

Finally got around to watching it, loved it pretty much as much as I thought I would - though I would've loved to have seen more Ghost action. I thought [blackout]Ygritte's[/blackout] death was well played out. I never cared much for the character but I understood their importance to the story, I didn't mind that [blackout]made her death less ambiguous in who ended up killing her, it was fitting that it was the kid since she had killed his father earlier in the season[/blackout]. The music score was also great (can't wait to get S4's soundtrack, which I believe comes out on my birthday!). I loved that (if I heard correctly) there was a slight hint of the "You know nothing" motif as Jon walks out the North/outer gate ("you know nothing" is among my favorite on the s3 soundtrack).

Jon in general was excellent in this episode. I've loved him since season 1 and I've loved watching him as an actor grow and (IMO) his character given some more depth especially in what scenes he's had this past season.

The mammoths, the giants, the scythe, loved all of it. Like others I wish the episode were a bit longer, but I kind of get why they made the decisions they did. It will be interesting to see what happens next in ep10 with [blackout]Stannis[/blackout] hopefully arriving.

I'm also hoping that [blackout]Lady Stoneheart[/blackout] is the final scene of the season

Why would you be pissed? Dany has to lock them up at some point. They are too big and deadly to allow them to roam around killing livestock and inevitably innocent people.

In the preview for next week Drogo is screaming and pissed and it looks like he is in a room. It could have been something else, but that seems like what was going on. I doubt it will be the final scene of the episode tho. That doesnt really match their style.

BEFORE THIS EPISODE:
Waaaaaah! Why do we have to have a whole episode of stupid Jon Snow and the Wall? That's time that could go to one of the other, better storylines!

AFTER THIS EPISODE:
Waaaaaah! Why did Jon Snow and the Wall only get one whole episode to itself here? It should have been two episodes! It should have been longer! Where else is this time going to go, to the other, lame storylines?

I wasn't complaining before the episode, but I understand why others did. The Wall storyline can be tedious sometimes.

But I do have an issue with the ending. We have an entire episode dedicated to the Battle of Castle Black and they give us a shorter than average episode and remove
Stannis x3 from saving the Night's Watch and making Jon Commander.
Which is now likely to just be put in an overstuffed final episode.

Llama your spoiler tag needs to be fixed.

I think what he means is that he doesn't want Dany chaining up the dragons to be a Mhysa-style final moment of the season. D&D have a tendency to give her the spotlight during final episodes, and given everything else that's supposed to happen next episode it wouldn't feel right if they made her the focal point of the end.

If the was the last scene of the season Id be furious too cause its such a non event. I mean would anyone be surprised that she had to lock up three flying death machines that can breathe fire and have razors for claws? Its not a cliffhanger or a huge moment. Im sure it will be hard for Dany but for us viewers its gonna be more of a "Well, yeah but they are dragons. They cant be let loose 24/7 so suck it up and dry your eyes, woman."

And frankly D&D are two supreme dumbasses if they pass up another opportunity to end a season with LS. That is a ready made "holy **** :wow:!" moment. That's how you end a season. Not a crying Dany making a logical and intelligent decision about dragon control.

Yeah, with everything else going on in that episode Dany's little dilemma should be the least of D&Ds priorities.

I bet Dany won't even show up next episode. I think the whole Jorah thing might be the end of her arc for this season.

I do think this episode probably succeeded in its holistic goal for the series; remind the audience why we should care not just about the wights and White Walkers but why we should appreciate and root for Snow and the Night's Watch again. The Lannisters almost literally stole the show from the Starks at the end of last season. Some members of the audience need to be reminded that a) there are multiple factions at and above the Wall as well as in the rest of Westeros and b) that broody boy who doesn't seem as cool as he should be is still the King in the North's brother and peer.

This episode kind of serves as Jon's slow ascension to lead heroic protagonist alongside Tyrion as lead heroic antagonist (from a certain point of view). And it's a bitter, frustrating but awesome moment. And book readers know there's a final capstone to kind of solidify the moment.

The Dragons were in the promo unfortunatly :(

And there is a shot of Dany crying and turning to look at something behind her. I think its pretty much guaranteed she [blackout] will get the news that her dragons killed a young boy[/blackout] and she is going to lock up her dragons in the finale because of this.

I hate to say it folks, but Im expecting a bit of a mess and/or disappointment from this upcoming finale. There is just too much left to cover. At this point Im expecting LS to get the shaft and Brienne and Pod wont be seen again until next season. Im putting my remote out of reach so I dont throw it through my tv screen when those credits roll just in case Im right.

I agree, they've really shot themselves in the foot by withholding so much. If they had even just made episode 9 10 minutes longer and kept the [blackout] Mance and Stannis [/blackout] scenes then they would have saved themselves some grief. As it stands, we'll probably still have ASOS material running into season 5.

What's infuriating is the crap they added to the middle of the season. Bran getting captured and Jon going after the deserters. The whole spill about them getting to the deserters before Mance and Mance not being allowed to know how many men are at the Wall didnt factor into the battle at all or have a single ounce of follow through. He still attacked with his entire force. Mance didnt seem to give two ****s how many ment were at the Wall. So there was no point for the writers to have Jon hunt down and kill the deserters and even less reason for Bran to be at Crastors.

At the beginning of the season I argued repeatedly that they could finish by season 8, but I dont see it happening. Theyve covered far less gorund this season than I thought they would.
