Game of Thrones - Book Readers' Thread

Why would you be pissed? Dany has to lock them up at some point. They are too big and deadly to allow them to roam around killing livestock and inevitably innocent people.

In the preview for next week Drogo is screaming and pissed and it looks like he is in a room. It could have been something else, but that seems like what was going on. I doubt it will be the final scene of the episode tho. That doesnt really match their style.

I meant as the final scene to the season. I should have been more specific. Having that as her characters final scene does make sense.

What's infuriating is the crap they added to the middle of the season. Bran getting captured and Jon going after the deserters. The whole spill about them getting to the deserters before Mance and Mance not being allowed to know how many men are at the Wall didnt factor into the battle at all or have a single ounce of follow through. He still attacked with his entire force. Mance didnt seem to give two ****s how many ment were at the Wall. So there was no point for the writers to have Jon hunt down and kill the deserters and even less reason for Bran to be at Crastors.

At the beginning of the season I argued repeatedly that they could finish by season 8, but I dont see it happening. Theyve covered far less gorund this season than I thought they would.

Yep, so much filler. People were saying by next season we'd be seeing Brans WoW stuff. At this stage it seems it'll be the rest of his ADWD chapters, with some added stuff to keep us reminded that he exists. Same with Theon.

I think they hurt themselves by trying to keep certain characters in certain episodes, simply for appearance sake. Like, why do we need to see Grey Worm get a love story subplot when they could use that screen time to progress Arya's story along.

Either ep 10 is going to be the greatest most over stuffed finale/ep ever. Or the producers have made the keen decision to save some of the events of storm of swords for feast for crows.

Pushing back some of the jon snow stuff, the lady SH, Stannis and where he lands...push that back and buffer this next book.

if the emmy suggestions by the producers is any indication, it's likely it's the best of the season.

Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series- “The Children”

Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series: Alex Graves (“The Children”), Alik Sakharov (“The Laws of Gods and Men”), Neil Marshall (“The Watchers on the Wall”).

Well the producers might consider it the best, but that doesnt mean it is. Ive seen many producers defend some awful ****. I doubt the finale is ****, but I expect to be disappointed by some things no matter how good the script may or may not be.

things like?
I'm expecting the wall thing to be taken care of early, the dany thing should take long, tyrion right after that, brienne vs hound, and LS.
i think an hour is enough to get through those things.

To non book readers DO NOT OPEN unless you are ok with having the entire finale and plots spoiled!!!.

Youve left out a number of things.

Not in order:

Jaime/Tyrion discussion.

Jaime frees Tyrion.

Tyrion confronts and kills Tywin and Shae.

Dany finding out drogo killed the kid

Dany locking up the dragons.

Jaime/Cersei scene from the preview.

LS

Jon finds and talks to Mance.

Jon fights men in the woods.

More Wall battle.

Stannis rides in.

Jon made Commander.

Brienne versus the Hound.

Arya leaving for Bravos.

Bran and company getting to the Godswood fighting their way into the Chrildrens underground world and meeting Raven.

And thats just off the top of my head. There is no way they fit all that in without it being rushed or messy.

aside from jaimie's conversation with tyrion (which i would hope doesn't take up as much screen time as there last convo did) it should take much time for him to find out to do what he does.

i don't expect jon as LC this season, i think they'll save that for next season. arya leaving for braavos might be questionable too, which is annoying, but all in all they should be able to fit most of that. time for the plot at the wall and around tyrion concerns me though.

FFC seems to be the popular vote for least favorite books as well as least eventful. I personally think holding off on some of this stuff till the next season would be a step towards addressing that issue. The Tyrion stuff needs to be be dealt with this season due to the lead up imo. Some of this other stuff, LS in particular no to much.

Stannis and his entourage could own the next season rather than try and fit in at the end here.

Based on D&D's comments AFFC&ADWD are going to see some serious adapting to make those two door stops more concise and eventful. I wouldn't worry too much about things being uneventful.

Wow what a huge episode after last week's huge episode. Both worthy of season finales. Mammoths & giants in the battle for the Wall. Just beautiful. And Ygritte has become so much less annoying as a hardcore Wildling.[BLACKOUT] Her death scene [/BLACKOUT]was well done.

Kit impressed me, as did Tormund's actor. Otherwise, I rioted after the end.

Regarding the emmy submissions, I am officially going to squash my own head if Pedro doesn't get nominated :o

Yeah, but doesn't that slightly defeat the purpose and principle of two seasons covering one book? I'll wait and see what happens, but I expect pretty much the entirety of book three to be done with and to move on.

All of you should bow to Samwell Tarly.

ALL. OF. YOUUUUU! :argh:

I'm down with the Tarly love. If Sansa started playing the Game of Throne last week, then Sam did this week. A kiss, a swear word and killing a Thenn. Yes mate.

[BLACKOUT]*disregard killing WW*[/BLACKOUT]

Styr was a big ****er and he could wield an axe. Loved his fight with Jon (from a visual standpoint) more than the Trial by Combat scene.

That kid and Arya are going to get married some day. :o

And kill all of Westeros together. THERE'S YOUR ENDING GRRM! :argh:

A belated question here but can Melisandre and Stannis create any more shadow babies or was that only a one time thing?
