So, did Varys leave as well?

Yeah, the bells began ringing stating that there has been death, so Varys who has no family house to protect him, knew he'd be a suspect.

I loved Stannis' smirk when he says "you're the King Beyond the Wall" haha, lovely stuff. Team Dragonstone ftw!

I'm abit disappointed by the Tyrion-Tywin scenery, mainly because they focused on Tyrion's love for Shae, /elisit comment: the book did it better, with Jaime confronting Tyrion about a certain character from the past. Man that stuff was heartbroking, this just had a warmhearted bro-hug.

I liked the reasoning that this was a proper finale, because we're practically now 50% done with the story, i just hope characters like the Greyjoys, Brotherhood witouth Banners, etc won't get cut. I hope SDCC gives us casting announcements, i'm really curious what will be on season 5.

Now what grinded my gear? The unnecessary and badly placed action in Bran's scene. You mean to tell me, that the evil Undead right before the 3 eyed Crow's lair we're just waiting to zerg, the Elf chick couldn't have watched over or cleaned the streets for them?

The 3 eyed raven could foresee this all, what a dick!

We're at a point in her story where the TV folks might have to introduce some new stuff to keep people interested. Because she's going to be stuck in Mereen for quite awhile, now, doing very little...

Book spoilers:

She'll probably be there for about half of next season, give or take an episode. I'd imagine the [BLACKOUT]fighting pit and Drogon showing up and taking her away[/BLACKOUT] will happen at around episode 6 or 7.

I was also thinking:
it's funny how King's Landing won't be the centerpiece anymore. The only major character who will remain there is Cersei, with Margaery as her foil. Jaime will be off doing his thing in the Riverlands or wherever the writers plan on sending him instead. Next season all eyes are on Essos, now that Tyrion and Arya are headed there, as well as the Wall now that Team Dragonstone has arrived. There should be plenty of Dorne peppered in there as well, and hopefully some focus on the Greyjoys in Pyke.

This is in the book. Wights attack them and Coldhands (an undead character who was cut from the show and helped them beyond the wall) fights off the wights so Bran and company can get into The Children's lair. There is old magic involved in this and its not entirely unlike a turf war so The Children don't venture above ground often and they don't go looking for fights with Wights and White Walkers.

It all felt rather rushed this season to me, and while what we got was good, I feel it would have been much better if they spent more time on certain scenes. They wasted a lot of time with this season.

Oberyn's death wasn't even touched on in this episode.

Stannis's army really felt like it came out of left field.

They drag their feet for 5-6 episodes, yet stuff the last 4-5 episodes.

The execution was lacking, it was like a bad video game like someone said earlier. They just pop out and zerg them, the Elf girl with her magic fire spells/bombs could have cleared the path for solo xp! ;)

I assume not all the actors were available for the first half or something?

I doubt it's budget constraints.

Because, there were like two filler episodes...

Totally reminded me of Zelda. Anyone who's played Ocarina of Time knows what I'm talking about (Hyrule field at night).

I just feel like a show where they 'plan' so far ahead, they really aren't that good at it or somehow tie their hands...

I was entirely satisfied by a great hour of television that wrapped up the major plot threads from they story lines well. I had no idea I would be that emotional about Arya leaving the Hound, but I was happy that I was. And the inclusion of Brienne in that sequence was brilliant.

However, the best bit is of course Tyrion and Tywin. My only regret is that they did not use the line "I am you writ small."

As for the final scene, what they did was emotionally cleansing and even kind of peaceful all things considered. I can wait a year for LS. I guess some fans cannot. Oh well.

It was fun, but I can see how it could blindside viewers or make a person go "wait a sec..." It kind of feels like it belongs in a different show, and I think it played better in the book. That being said, the magic and fantasy does increase as the story continues. It never reaches Harry potter levels of magic everywhere in your face. This stuff will increase over time. So here is hoping D&D can handle it well and meld the increasing fantasy and magic in with the gritty medieval political drama they have done so well.

Oh man, that's a good one.

GRRM would flay you alive for calling a Child of the Forest an Elf.

What i saw tonight, was nothing like a Child of the Forest. /elitistscumbag

Don't even get me started on "Pedophile creep-alike" 3 eyed crow.

I hope Season 5 episodes 1-2 have all the best Stannis dialogue bits us fans have been daydreaming to hear.

It was good. It felt like a pretty awesome finale up until the Tyrion stuff. That part felt awfully rushed, and then ending the episode with Arya on a boat? Yay? Nope, boring. I know how that specific epilogue should have been in the episode and I'm just thoroughly disappointed in that.

Everything else besides that and Dany was awesome. Also The Hound vs Brienne fight was the best fight so far.

Oh, and the Children looked pathetic. Guess that's the budget's fault, or lack of imagination.

Prude, I'd love to have him watch me with his 1001 eyes :o

I'm so pissed at Lena Heady for that damn pic she tweeted a few weeks ago now....

Totally agree. This season was poorly put together. The season finale just did what they always do, give us hope that certain characters and storylines are brought to fruition next season....yet they aren't. Easily the highlight last night was the hound vs brienna fight. Now that was a fight. The Stannis arrival was just horrible. Did they just get off their ships, no winter clothing... ok. Don't get me started with the Mountain crap. If the writers are going to deviate from the books, do so that the good guys benefit once if ever.

Good finale. They built it up to be better than it actually was, but I definitely enjoyed and was satisfied by what we got.

Jesus, Brienne vs Hound was brutal. :wow:

I also liked how the Tyrion/Jaime and Tyrion/Tywin scenes played out differently than in the books. They didn't really set up the Tysha thing in the show, so that would have felt out of place.

Also, Hound taking a **** while Arya was talking with Brienne - foreshadowing for Tywin's death? :woot:

Can't say I'm that disappointed with the lack of LS, would've been a great finale,
but as others have said, they're maybe saving her for Brienne's plot next season, which is fine by me. The reason that reveal worked so well in the books for me was that it was placed so near to the events that transpired at the Red Wedding and that window has already passed in the show. Will be interesting to see if they do end up using her next season.

Also, what the hell were those skeleton things that attacked Bran et al.,
weren't they supposed to be wights in the books?

I liked it.
Few questions

Does Varys leave in the books too.

Have they cut a lot from the books? Seems GRRM wrote plenty of material . If you only skim his work no wonder there catching him.

Some people express a lot of anger towards his production rate. You can't rush creativity folks.

Last thing Natalie Dormer has such a unique look. I did not find her in the least attractive at one time.

I had rocks in my head.
OMG that lady exudes SEXY!!!!!!!!
Kid that plays Tommen will have a lifetime of spank file mental images.
Hope that is not offensive, I mean everybody here watches GOT after all

Going to be a long off season
I need a support group

P.S. Reason they didn't have LS may have been scheduling. That actress scored a significant role on broadcast TV.

Just an afterthought. Scheduling probably has more impact than we realize

We need a GOT sub forum, somebody needs to do poll if OK

I'm glad you brought this up...

I loved this episode. Really, really loved it.

The one element of it that I didn't love, felt cheated by, as a non-book reader who was slightly spoiled, was that the Mountain
was not suffering from Oberyn's poison. I mean, I wanted him howling in pain. But, no, not even a cough. Hell, it was like he was at a day spa.

Worse yet, he might live and become stronger! Really pisses me off!
:cmad:

I enjoyed the episode like most people. Also have the most common disappointment, but my hope is that the character will pop up in the beginning of the next season, and that hopefully the writers have NOT axed said character.

The only thing that I felt a little cheated by (and I don't know how it's done in the books) is Arya's decision to go to Braavos. I don't know how she decides in the books, but I felt like it was almost a last resort. She wanted to go to the Wall, offered money etc but they were not going there. They tell her they're going to Braavos, and she remember's "Oh yea! I have this coin! I can go here for free!" utters the phrase, and goes. I was hoping it was a conscientious decision by Arya to go and train to join the faceless men and become an assassin so she could get her revenge. But this episode didn't give that impression at all.

Can someone help me out? In the books does she decide to join them like above, or does she go to Braavos by chance?
