Game of Thrones General (Non-Book Related) Discussion Thread - Part 1

Something to keep in mind, "feature length" is anything with a runtime of 60+ minutes. But most people think "feature length" means 90+ minutes and HBO should have been aware of that when they were talking about "feature length" episodes.

I'll probably buy the storyboards and art book.

Oh and D&D should be slapped for passing on this design:

Even if they did want that design, that's not easily translated on screen with a TV budget (in the earlier seasons, at least).

The first episode should be way longer, its been 2 years!

The gap between last season & season 8 has been absurd - way too long really. But hey, if that's what it takes for the writers/producers to craft the perfect finale, so be it.

It'll all be over by mid-May!

I'm kind of glad it isnt. The battle of Winterfell doesnt happen until Episode 3. They made us wait 2 years, and before we get to see the Battle of Winterfell we're going to have to get through 3 more weeks and 112 minutes of Jon and Dany dealing with his true identity, Cersei/Euron/Golden Army BS, drama at Winterfell over Dany and her army and dragons, Grey Worm/Messandei relationship stuff, Winterfell prepping for the battle, and lots of talking.

It will probably mostly be a good 112 minutes, but it's still going to suck waiting for the Battle of Winterfell.

Oh and I'm thinking the final shot of the trailer (the horse legs stepping into frame) is going to be the cliffhanger and last shot of Episode 2. So I'm prepping for that aggravating BS.

The overall running time of this season is more or less the same as season 7. I'm okay with that.

I don't get all this hatred towards HBO for the episodes not all being feature length. It was heavily rumored, but I don't think HBO ever officially said this.
That being said, I am a little bummed the finale isn't the longest episode. I was hoping for a full two hours or something. Maybe it's not needed though?

or maybe they havent revealed the real runtime...

regardless... the hatred isn't without merit... 2 year wait....

Doing my annual re-watch and it seems like it would've been smarter for Olenna/Little Finger to orchestrate Joffreys death after he and Margery consummated the marriage. Of course the wedding feast was easier and simpler to get away with but easier to get Margery into power.

That's what Tommen was for. Olenna didn't want Joffrey to even lay a finger on Margaery. She knew that Tommen was more or less a normal kid or at the very least, easier to manipulate than Joffrey.

I like what Kit says about the female roles in GOT. The women in this show are some of the strongest ever presented on TV, IMO.

Rewatching the show and am on Season 5, love the scene where Jon rejects Stannis because Jon has no idea just how many truth bombs Stannis is dropping on him.

God, it's been probably a decade since I've listened to System of a Down. I'll put them in my playlist for work tomorrow.

Re watching the previous seasons before the new one and a silly thought occurred to me on the scenes where Aria in disguise reveal herself, it made me think about Scooby-Doo when the villain is unmasked :)

my images never work lol i still hate this new SHH style

Emilia Clarke, of “Game of Thrones,” on Surviving Two Life-Threatening Aneurysms

To summarize...

She had an aneurism after season 1 wrapped. Had brain surgery and suffered aphasia. Spent season 2 recovering and taking morphine. At one point she was taking morphine in between press interviews just to function. The surgery after season 3 failed and she had a second aneurism. They did another major surgery and removed parts of her skull and replaced them with titanium plates and stopped the bleed on her brain. When she went to comicon once she had had surgery only weeks before and spent the whole event suffering an excruciating headache and thinking she was going to die at any second. Then after the event she did an interview with MTV because, and I quote, "if I'm going to go it might as well be on live television."

And she worked during this ordeal. And kept it private. She's ****ing amazing.
