Rogue One Gareth Edwards directing Rogue One - Release Date Dec 16 2016

Yes, a Star Wars movie will bomb. I believe it.

Hahahaha yeah right. It won't be the only "Anthology". This movie will do well. Trust me on that. If the PT can survive and do well....so will this.

Exactly. If the prequels taught us anything it's that Star wars fans will always say "maybe next time will be better". So they will go to see Rogue One in droves and if it's terrible they will go see the next anthology film in droves because we are like addicts. A single bad trip isn't enough to get us to kick the habit.

The Star Wars franchise is at this point "too big to fail". The fandom is massive and crazy loyal.

Or even three in a row. :o

Is the movie set during the OT? Excuse my ignorance, I've not been following very closely.

Just before. Like, it will probably end with them handing the plans to Leia.

Gotta admit, the radio chatter gave me chills at the end there. This sounds really cool, I can't wait to see it.

Between Episodes III and IV. But far closer to IV.

I guess that kind of explains the "Star Wars Anthology" then. It's not set during any sort of specific "war"

I'm actually glad they are applying some logic to the title.

Will also make sense for a film about Solo's youth or Yoda's early years.

Especially seeing as it's the first ever spin off movie.

As a prequel fan, I laugh at this notion, but I keep imagining several people asking "Anthology? This isn't the next Star Wars movie?" And someone else explaining it technically is but tis not Episode VII, in fact, it's a prequel to the original trilogy.
"Prequel?", they'll say, before fleeing in the other direction. :oldrazz:

So by possibly being centered around the plot to retrieve this Death Star plans, I wonder if they might spin this movie as espionage/spy movie, but...IN SPACE.:oldrazz:

My assumption is that many Bothans will die to bring us this film.

They've really got the epic shots down. First the SD in the sand, now this.

They better bring in Kyle Katarn :cmad:

I saw the teaser...

I'll let crow cool off first...

I'm sure the marketing will clear up any confusion. And people didn't flee after witnessing the travesty that was AOTC so I doubt they will flee from this film which looks and sounds like something new and original for the franchise and potentially a better film than anything we got in the prequels. If anything it should be a better made film considering the crew and the director that are handling this.

I heard that the prequels will be branded as the 'Star Wars Travesty'. ;)

What was that noise at the end of the teaser? Radio chatter?

Kyle would be cool, but wouldn't he be better suited to a cameo in the main Star Wars films in the current timeline? A prequel at this point would just have him as a random Imperial and little else. Though in the proper context I guess even that could be cool.

Well, not if the movie revolves around stealing the death star plans, cuz that's the rumours right? And yes I know the EU is gone so even if he by chance ends up in the movies he might not even be involved in that.
But it would be cool to see him in one movie, either this or another one.

I would prefer they leave Kyle out of the new continuity. I say that as a huge fan of the Dark Forces saga. Leave the Expanded Universe alone, and introduce new characters...which was one of the points of erasing the EU, in the first place.

Agreed.

I guess so. Just because the EU is gone doesn't mean old faves can't be brought back in new ways. Katarn could be a rebel spy at this point potentially. Though in all likeliness I wouldn't hold my breath to seeing much EU characters pop up in the movies just yet. Comics, novels and toons though I could see some more appearing.
