The Dark Knight Rises Gary Oldman - "We start shooting next year. You didn't hear that from me"

He's hilarious on SNL and that's really all I've ever seen him in.

While it's slightly interesting that Gary Oldman told us the obvious...there will be another Batman movie in the next few years...10 pages? Really?

Not next few years in 2 years 2011. And people well are hype about this.

But it's GARY OLDMAN. And therefore it's SOMEWHAT OFFICIAL. And that makes it VERY IMPORTANT. :woot:

...

Few: Being more than one but indefinitely small in number:

Wow, he just comes out and says it. He does him. He doesn't haw. There's no clever wording. He just says it.

Interesting.

Hmmm. If Nolan were to return, he would have to be working on post production on Inception and pre-production on Batman 3 at the same time. Not to mention when would he have time to work on the script (though Jonah and Goyer could complete that themselves).

Nolan has said tons of time he is a one movie at a time person.

The schedule seems off.

I dunno though - BB was what 2005, The Prestige (one of the films of the decade) 2006, TDK 2008, Inception 2010, begin b3 late 2010 to come out in 2011?

Makes sense.

He's already proved he's one of the finest directors around, possibly THE best. To have a run of Batman Begins, Prestige and The Dark Knight is remarkable - not keen on Insomnia but like the two before that (Following is fantastic considering its budget

As cool as it is to hear Gary say this is "confirmed".. We truly dont know until Nolan speaks.

Either way i'm ****ing pumped! :woot:

One gets the sense however his work will never truly be appreciated by his peers.

Not to be a debbie downer but Oldman back-peddled when he was interviewed by Quint from AICN. I'm hoping it's only because WB told him to.
UPDATE:
I just interviewed Oldman and he back-peddled a bit on it, going from sure to the movie filming next year on the panel to a more "well, I'm sure they want to do another one... it might 2 or 3 years..." I'll have the exact quote for you in my interview, which I hope to have up tomorrow, but maybe them horses need holdin'. Or maybe he slipped and got an earful from Warners. What do you folks think?

Really? I think Nolan is certainly appreciated by his peers. That's why he was nominated for a DGA award last year, and even got an Oscar nom for Memento's screenplay. It isn't like he's being ignored...

It's just that the guy is only 6 feature-length films into his career, is all.

Yup, that was mentioned on here already. The WB ninjas have gotten to him.

Anyway, the great Gary Oldman was there as well promoting THE BOOK OF ELI as yes, he was *ahem* asked about his earlier BATMAN 3 comments. His response: "I've been a rather naughty boy today."

As straight forward as he was, I still think people shouldn't get carried away with that comment.

And his strike rate so far is 100. However I kinda get an Alfred Hitchcock kinda feeling.

What? People know who Hitchcock is. And he's influenced directors who've followed him, for sure.

If you're talking Oscar, that's something else entirely. :funny: Kubrick never won a directing Oscar either.

Which is a crime. A damn crime.

And it's a poor reflection when those guys didn't. Just annoys me when hack directors get undeserved accolades. But, I digress.
