You honestly think WB is more wrapped up in Oscars for a third installment of a comic book franchise than summer box office... Maybe if Nolan was anal and demanded a winter release so his movie would get slightly more Oscar consideration then maybe. Other than that, I think that's crazy to believe that.

Exactly. No doubt WB would want an Oscar for any film but there's no way they would move a summer tent pole like this just for Oscar consideration. Its ridiculous to entertain the possibility that they would sacrifice the big summer returns for the sake of a better shot at the Oscars. Not when the summer tent pole is as tried and true as the masses of office drones purchasing Honda Civics every year.

If Inception is a summer 2010 release, you figure his cut of the film will be done by early spring. He can start filming the sequel and be on track for a 2011 summer release. This is assuming that pre production work is being done right now and through the making of Inception. A pretty safe assumption to make since he did prep work on TDK while filming the Prestige. So let's not overdramatize the whole "But Nolan will be so tired and needs a break" blah blah blah.

But I think the studios realize that ''fanboys'' are their largest demographic. And regarding releasing Batman 3 in the fall/winter, maybe--just maybe--the allure of a comic book movie having a chance at winning an Oscar is too big of an allure to resist.

Fanboys make up a small percentage of the movie going public, but I agree mostly with the rest of your statement. I've said this before but a follow up to one of the biggest movies of all time with the same cast and crew can be released anytime throughout the year and still make a truck load of money, I mean is anyone seriously not going to see a Nolan directed Batman 3 just coz it's released in November/December? It's not like children make up most of the audience for this series so you don't need to release it during school holidays.

This all seems like a case of Oldman speaking out his back end. I'm sure he thin ks they would be shooting this year because that's the pattern they have been following. I bet no one has even spoken to him yet about filming dates. This is another Michael Caine situation. It got me excited for a second, but after awhile I came to my senses.

I actually believe they will shoot next year. And knowing they shoot in Chicago mostly i would imagine they would shoot before December seeing as Chicago snows a bunch, unless they will do it like Batman Returns which would be cool. And besides Oldman plays Commissioner Gordon, im pretty sure he would know seeing as that character is pretty important. Im sure Bale, and Caine will eventually start saying the same thing. But seeing as none of them were at comic con we heard from one who was Oldman.
