Get Me a Whopper

that has to be the worst advert ever, all those people acting like that just because they couldn't get a burger!

As someone who worked at BK from 1999-2004 (the last 3 of those as a manager), I can assure you that that is exactly the kind of reaction you get.

Hell, you tell them that the sandwich that was 10-cents cheaper last week is back to its regular price and people act like that.

I've always loved BK's advertising, from the Subservient Chicken, to the Burger King, to the office-style ads, to this. Brilliant! :)

I absolutely believe this was real.

This is the same company that, for the debut of the Chicken Whopper (which was on April Fool's Day), literally and officially changed the name of a few of their locations to "Chicken King". Also the Burger King website was completely changed to Chicken King.

Our store didn't change our signs or anything, but we did greet everyone that day with "Welcome to Chicken King, Home of the Chicken Whopper! Would you like to try a new Chicken Whopper today?"

And then we literally clucked at our customers. :D

See, part of the promotion was that if a customer ordered a Chicken Whopper and they clucked for us, that they'd get 25 cents off of their sandwich. But nobody believed us, so eventually we just started clucking to them. It made so many customers laugh it was great! And we finally started getting people to cluck for us! :)

So yes, I totally believe that BK would do this at one of their stores for one day.

"The Whopper got too popular. It got to big to be on our menu." :D

Though I'm surprised that many people were fooled, what with Whopper signage still being all over their store. Sure, some were X'ed out, but when a store discontinues something, it takes down EVERY mention of it.

I think "I HATE Wendy's!" dude was about to go into a Tourettes fit! :D

was that for real? they can't be serious... that one lady looks stressed over the fact they didn't have a whopper....

Honestly, it probably isn't, but I'm sure some ppl like to think it is...

If you've ever worked fast food before, you can be sure that that's how people would react to such an instance.

It's real.

Here's a comment I found on a site that was reporting on this advertisement campaign:

I live in Las vegas nevada and i was actually there at that exact burgerking that day when they said the wopper was discontinued. I never really liked the whopper so i didnt really cared that they discontinued it but i was shocked that they did. I was just standing there watching people curse out the workers . IT WAS ALL REAL. Even though i did not say something that would get me into the video when i left they where giving out free 10 $ gift cards to anyone who would sign a paper saying they would use you in the commercial

I worked at Burger King for three years and I was always telling people that we discontinues the Whopper. One time I told them that we ran out of hamburger meat. But that time, we actually did run out of burger meat. So it wasn't a joke, and people's reactions were hilarious.

its funny...... cause i always just order a double cheeseburger.....:oldrazz:

I had people still casually ordering cheesesticks 3 years after they were discontinued. And people still were acting like this when I told them they were discontinued....after 3 years!!

Personally I prefer Church's Chicken.

I'm a car salesman at a car dealership and one Sunday, the boss wanted to buy lunch for everybody that day. There were about 35 people there so he gave us his credit card and said bring back enough for everybody. We bought all they had.

Well, thank go dthey still sell the Whopper, or I would have nightmares for years.

whoppers aren't even all that great.... sorry if i offended thousands.... :o
