Moby Dick?
Agreed, that was my first thought. Movies chopped down for TV or fullscreen DVDs always look a bit cheap, no matter what. And the directors are known for experimental composition of shots. I think it looks good, aside from the one shot where the guy with the rifle falls back in shock. THAT looked a bit cheap, no matter how you cut it. Still can't wait!Well the movie is filmed in 2.35:1 aspect ratio, and the image we are seeing there is pretty heavily cropped, so you don' see the whole image which is why it probably looks off a bit.
He did destroy a boat and eat a man's leg. That's gotta be a sin.
Hopefully the final film is released in 2.35:1 so the frames can look normal.
Since nobody's mention this yet. Looks like GR:SOV has a composer. Dave Sardy.

I looked him up to see what kind of stuff he's done, and I found a Zombieland track and listened to it.
Definitely looking forward to see what kind of music he brings to this film.
Christopher Young's music for previous GR film was pretty good IMO. It was badly used in the film IMO but the music itself along with the main theme did fit the character.
Hopefully this one can be even better. LOVED Zombieland and its soundtrack.
Never was impressed with Young's score for GR. It made the already "cheesy" movie "extra cheesy". It's a shame too b/c he was a perfect fit for this being the man responsible for the first two Hellraiser scores. Sure the score was Morricone-esque and Beltrami-esque (who would've been an interesting choice for both GR movies) at times, but it wasn't dark, edgy, menacing, or sinister enough for the character, imo. It could've brought something the film was really lacking. Instead he just enhanced the problems I have with the film.
Sardy's score for the re-quel will most likely be composed on synthesisers with electric guitars and any other instruments I'd expect to hear from a rock band. With some hard rock songs thrown in between. Could work. Wonder if he'll give GR a theme.
I felt that...but for some reason I dug it.
It's still a WIP.
