Ghost Rider bumped to Feb of 2007 (Release Date Thread)

I think that most of the people that like Ghost Rider will agree with you there BIGGUN.

I know I do.

It's going to be hard for this movie to become my favorite movie of all time becuase it has a lot of competition. Why it will likely win top spot in my all time list is these boards and how closely I'm following the development of the movie. I feel like were part of it and because of that, I'm more apt to love the outcome.... no matter how it turns out.

This is an interesting page, I thought if some hadn't seen it, you might like.
It also shows the release date as Aug. 6th not 4th, and says their release planning has something to do with a Doom movie.

Also it says that the spirit in GR is not Zarathos. I could've swore I read somewhere else that it was Blaze/Zarathos in the movie. Does anybody know what the deal is with that?

They said they were mixing aspects from both, Johnny and Dan Ghost Riders. Maybe this is one of them. It is also probably a little easier to write in the script as well.

I am actually glad they are mixing the characters. I want the most of Ghost Rider comics they can put into one movie.

Same here. Plus they have a wide array of villians that they get to pick and choose from. They just might try to pull of a sequel if the first movie goes over well.

Right. I have no problem with them mixing the two. They both have positives. Its just that I'm certain I read MSJ or somebody like that mentioning Zarathos by name in reference to the movie. I'm wondereing if the web site I linked to is wrong(sense some of the info there has not been updated), or if my memory is wrong, or if I'm right but they changed their mind.

I think the site is wrongo.
It'll be zarathos, tho I doubt there will be any mention of the demons real name. Thats why hammer lane and the new series are blaze with zarathos.

That yahoo site rarely updates and is not very good on what is going on in a movie.

If MSJ finishes shooting GR on time say end June, then it doesnt leave much time to put the pieces together and for promoting what should be a great movie (you really wouldn't want to rush the post production and stuff it up all the hard work).
Or as this is April 1st????????????

Wasn't it supposed to be August 2006? I doubt they moved up the release date 7-8 months. Sounds ludicrous to me.

Plus, I don't think Ghost Rider is a very good movie for Winter programming. Blade Trinity anyone? Didn't work out.

This could just be another dumb and unfunny April Fool's joke. Not true even if it isn't a joke. They also have Jon Voight as part of the cast.

i doubt this Dec date.....that is more than likely old news which Empire has not updated yet on their site. there would have been an official anouncement about it changing.

Aug 4, 2006 is still the date...

Yup, I agree. I trust comingsoon.net more than that page.

Also if you notice they list Voight as part of the cast...which fell through recently. Voight is now just a producer and not in a starring role.
that Dec 05 date was a suggestion made a long time ago before they started pre-production. it was only a estimated release date assuming that Cage would have been available for an early shoot. that didnt pan out of course and everything was pushed back.
they really need to do an overhaul on their GR info section though...

Most of the websites I have seen need to be seriously updated also. It would have sounded more believable if they had the movie done, but the post-production is going to take a while and they are not done filming yet anyway. They might move the release date later, after they are done filming, but I think that MSJ would tell us about it.

 Blade Trinity is a clear cut example of a movie that wasn't very good. If it did't work out it wasn't because of the release date.

I thought Blade Trinity was a decent movie. Entertaining. It made money in the box office but it is just not liked among most comic book movie fans.

I won't disagree with that WarBlade, but I don't think the Blade movies would've played well over winter regardless.

Anyway, its a dead issue now since the movie is obviously coming out in August of next year.

Or wednesday...

Nice to see the Classic Microwave again MM. Brings back memories. So funny...

I hope that the release date is moved earlier. Even a week would be good enough for me.

True enough. Looks like Transformers may be close to the release of Ghost Rider as well. That could cause some problems in the box office. Not much, but some.

wont be too close as it looks like they want a late November release for Transformers. GR will be out of the theaters by then.....or hopefully on its last legs in the theater..heh
if Sony sticks to the Aug 4 date i dont see any conflict happening between the 2.
