Ghostbusters 3 - Part 1

Well even if the passing torch story happens. They could have the old gang there for most of film. Start with retiring and looking for new guys, a scene or two in middle. And end with the old guys saving the world one last time with the new guys. So this gives chance for like bill to have a small role, and then ray/egon probably training the new guys throughout film. And stick winston in there somewhere.

A full reboot won't happen. Atleast not for a long time. Since ivan/dan/bill and egon actors control the rights to the characters. They would either have to sell of there rights. Or once they passed away there estates sell off the rights. So with that its something we probabbly won't see happen for a good 20-30yrs give or take.

Well we will never know, things can always chance on a drop of a dime. Sure it doesn't look that good. But we are still far better off nowadays then we where after gb 2.

But to step away from that talk. To move to something else. Did any one catch that both kristen bell, and jonah hill recently on there twitter pages. Posted photos of them with a ecto 1 mobile. They didn't look bad with the old ecto 1. I know its nothing related to gb 3. But probably the car was at some local show or something they went too.

It's because he holds the first Gb film in such high regard, he once said that the first half, or two thirds, of that film was perfect, and you get the sense that Bill Murray is the kind of guy who is pretty hard on films.
He didn't like the way the second film turned out, and wished it had never been made, as he did not want to tarnish the rep of the first.
What are the chances of a GB3 being any good? When the exact same creative team couldn't make a good enough sequel 5 years after the first one?!

If it is the case that Bill Murray is concerned over quality, then I'm behind that all the way.
I'd rather have the memories of one great and one good Ghostbusters movie than a new third one which has me burying my head in my hands all the way through.

and who says a thrid movie would be good?

now you will writte that we can not know until we see it. but this is Murray's argument.they told him the same in 88. and he said ok. then the movie was finished and he didnt like it.

This is the way to do the 3rd movie:

Oh sure I know man, but we don't really have much to go by. So its hard to really judge things. The main deal is of course bill he has and always been a issue. I do really hope it does happen.

They won't remake. The guys ivan/harold/dan/bill all own the rights. They don't want a remake. Like I said before. If a remake would ever happen. Either said parties would have to sell there rights off. Or some time after all have passed offbthere estates sell rights off.

Just heard on a Tv show here in the UK. Dan says they are still moving forward with Ghostbusters 3, theres roles in the script for both Bill and Rick, but Bill won't be returning, he is however open to re-casting the role of Venkman and is looking at the moment at potential replacements. He's sure however that Moranis will come out of retierment for the film.

Not sure i like that idea, i love ghostbusters, but Murray owns that role.

On a more of a gossip note, Krirsten Bell, Sarah Paxton and Jonah hill were spotted having there photo taken with Ecto 1 on the Universal lot, Kristen Bell then tweeted-

'Guys pleeease don't be intimidated that i changed my background to a pic of me driving Ecto 1. its not a big thang (read: its a BIG thang)'

Jonah Hill changed his twitter background to Ecto 1 and tweeted-'Who ya gonna call'

I'm not down for this at all if they recast Venkman. Can't we just cut our losses and treat the video game from a few years ago as "Ghostbusters 3" and call it a day?

Blah blah blah Dr. Stantz. You've been "moving forward" on GB3 for 4 years now.

Call me when there's a trailer.

They shouldn't have to recast, just say that Venkman retired and isn't involving in ghostbusting anymore.

i saw that news earlier in the week myself when it was reported on a few entertainment sites. I still hope the film will happen. As for the bill stuff. I seriously doubt they will recast him. That would be sucide to do. The easier thing would be to just write bill off either say he died prior to film events, or he off on a vacation/etc... So that leaves a chance if they can get bill to do a cameo towards the end of the film. That is what i would do.

As for the jonah hill and kristin bell photos. It was probably just during some expo/car show universal was doing. Seriously doubt it will have anything to do with the film.

Dan Aykroyd interview
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/9097816/Dan-Aykroyd-a-comedy-legends-spiritual-side.html
One film Aykroyd desperately wants to make is Ghostbusters 3. He’s been trying to get the gang back together since 1999, when he wrote a first draft of the script. A more recent version, by the writers of the US Office but overseen by Aykroyd, has received a favourable response from the studio, Columbia, and all the original cast bar one: Bill Murray. His cantankerous friend’s refusal to have anything to do with the sequel – which is designed to pass the overalls and backpacks to a new generation of buster – has long been a source of frustration to Aykroyd.

Proposed release dates have been and gone, with Murray intermittently popping up to dismiss talk of a new film as “a bunch of crock”, or “a horrible rumour”. Late last year it was even reported that Murray sent a script back to Aykroyd shredded, and with a note reading “No one wants to pay money to see fat, old men chasing ghosts”. Aykroyd vehemently denied this, but he does admit defeat on the Murray situation.

Will the film ever materialise?
“I honestly don’t know. At this point it’s in suspended animation. The studio, the director Ivan Reitman and Harold Ramis feel there must be a way to do it, but Bill Murray will not do the movie. He doesn’t want to be involved. He’s got six kids, houses all over America. He golfs in these tournaments where they pay him to turn up and have a laugh. He’s into this life and living it. I know we’d have a lot of fun [but] I can’t be mad at him. He’s a friend first, a colleague second. We have a deep personal relationship that transcends business and he doesn’t want to know.”

He’s recently begun to consider recasting Murray’s role with another actor. Or perhaps, I suggest, his character could come back as a ghost in CGI so the actor doesn’t need to give up the golfing? It’s obviously something that has crossed Aykroyd’s mind, but he wonders if Murray would give his approval even to that.
“We’re not going to do a movie that exploits the franchise. The script has to be perfect. I’m the cheerleader, but I’m only one voice in the matter. It’s a surety that Bill Murray will not do the movie, however there is still interest from the studio.” Aykroyd looks pained.
With this best route would be is to just write peter out. Say he is on vacation, retired, etc..... So we have a logical way to explain him off. Or He had passed away in the years since they were busters. But then if they didnt have him die off screen, they could at least give chance if the film does go to production to wrestle murray for a mere small cameo. One would hope. I know if he wouldnt do it now if the film did get in production more less likely for him to show up. But maybe if it does actually film he could decide to change him mind and show up for a day or two of shooting.

well like i said above best thing would be to just write out venkman as retired/on vacation. Or he died, dead i would go if they really cant even get him to do a cameo. But if filming does happen maybe then when bill sees its actually happening an a go maybe he would change him mind and come in for a day/2 filming and do a cameo. Really the best options to go in my mind.

I just think we need another Ghostbusters film, especially without Murray. Another game? For sure!

I can't believe how many people seem to want another GB movie without one of the core characters.

Bill Murray, for me, is NOT the main attraction. If he doesn't want to come back for a 3rd film that's all fine and well. We can pretend that he has retired and moved to the beautiful, San Fernando Valley! They can bring in some young guns, lead by Oscar of course, since it will be revealed that Venkman is actually his father, to carry on the family business. Egon, Ray and Winston train them to the best of their ability to be the new brand of Ghostbusters with all new equipment, but not like the crappy Extreme Ghostbusters cartoon...I hated that crap. And there you have it folks, I have successfully made a sequel and rebooted the franchise all at the same time! Not hard to do, just takes some thinking

Except for your inclusion of Oscar, what you said sounded almost exactly like EGB (which I thought was good for what it was).

And just leaving out Murray with some pat explanation seems absurd, like if you went and saw the Avengers but Iron Man wasn't in it, and they handwaved it away with "oh, he's busy in Russia fighting advanced criminal robotic technology." You came to see the whole team, regardless of favorite characters, and the removal of one is jarring and ridiculous. It's equally offensive when Winston is left out of promotional materials or the like. He's part of the team, damn it, don't try to pretend he's not!
