Ghostbusters 3 - Part 1

Its simple, no Venkman, no Ghostbusters 3. As a matter of fact, if anyone doesn't come back, no Ghostbusters 3.

umm we know the rest of the gang will be back. So we do have that. Yes it would be great to have murray there. But like we have pointed out there is many ways they can go about murray out and still have a good story/film and still have murray's venkman talked about. Be it he is retired and just talked about, died and we see his spirit here or there in the film. Or he is retired and they once filming happens he changes mind and does a cameo.

Much as I wish it were otherwise, a Ghostbusters movie without Bill Murray would just feel weirdly lacking. His absence would only serve as the huge elephant in the room. The thing everyone in the audience would be aware of but no-one wanted to talk about.

whos to say everyone in the film has to be comedy actors. Toss in some action/drama actors to balance things out. And just since josh hasnt done comedy who says he couldnt do it. Look at comedy actors who decide to do dramatic roles.

The only non-comedy star in Ghostbusters is Sigourney Weaver and she needs to be back just because she belongs in these films.
But I haven't thought of having other type of actors for a new team. Maybe that will be best, because the comedians are sappy nowadays. So give me Josh H, if he hasn't got fed up on blockbuster productions by now. Then we have a large numbers of others. I can mention a few: Kieran Culkin, Elijah Wood, Anna Paquin, Michael Angarano.
Also Ghostbusters 3 could be the right thing for Jonathan Taylor Thomas if he wanna do a comeback. He did mostly lighter stuff.

I got a simple solution! you want murray in GB3, get him give some creative input into a draft of the script? then everyones happy!

Maybe it's a good thing that Murray is hard to please here. He seems to be the one who is pushing for them to rewrite and get it right. It does look like he wants to do one, but not for the sake of doing it.

Read that last quote again. "We'll try again" sounds like he's involved.

EDIT: BTW, here's the video. And the link misquoted Murray. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rsemDios52o

It says he says: "They just don't have a really good script."
When really, he says: "You just have to have a really good script."

His demeanor says he's doing the film though.

Well nice to hear its not dead and going through another rewrite hopefully this time it will get him to sign on and end things. But I agree if bill is so dam worried on quality why doesn't he work along with the writers.

Honestly, I think Murray is using the script as a scapegoat because he just doesn't want to do it. Ramis and Akroyd have implied as much. I think that it could be the greatest script ever written and Murray would still say it is not up to scratch.

It's probably be a bit of both. If Murray found the script too good to turn down, the film would be happening. It's doubtful you'd get a script good enough for him though, Murray clearly isn't that interested.

I gotta be honest. First of all, I really think is very hard to make a good Ghostbusters movie after all this time. The charm of the 80's can't be achieved. It just can't. So it wouldn't be nice to see a bad late sequel to that classic movie.

BUT, on the other hand, I'd be lying if I say I wasn't interested in seeing all 4 together again with the proton packs. That would be sooooo cool.

So, bottom line, I'm fine with whatever they decide. But if they go for it, just get Bill Murray, otherwise don't bother.

And a new team? Meh. I want to see the original Ghostbusters, not some current teenagers who just want a paycheck.

I think the original team is too old to be running around with proton packs. They would have to set up another team. I like the concept enough to where I'm ok with that. They aren't going to make a funnier film but they could exceed expectations in other aspects.

Well, TLJ was still running around in MIB a little, and Expendables is still going strong. I suspect they could kind of do a play on that type of thing where they're all gung ho ready to get into action again and then end up suddenly not being able to get as physical as they used to.

It was never a very demanding roll, physically speaking. They might look old -well, except for Ernie Hudson-, but they can still play the part perfectly, I believe.

One thing I worry about (if the movie actually happens) is the humor. I fear they'll put in too much and it will be really stupid and 'dumbed-down' for today's audiences.

The original is considered a comedy, but it still takes itself seriously enough. I can see this one being a big joke.

We don't need giant boob and dick ghosts shooting their ectoplasm everywhere... "teh goatstbutterz iz teh lulz"

Of coarse I'm probably just being very pessimistic about this. :oldrazz:

The last thing we need is a "Ghostbusters 3" movie in the style of the "21 Jump Street" movie

Can you imagine Murray saying stuff like this

Louis- What about Janine?!

Venkman- I titty F'd her

It is possible to do a sci-fi/action flick with comedy and still have the menace be threatening and real. They were all pretty goofy individuals in the first movie but they were all aware how real the threat was and that the entire planet was in peril if they ****ed up. I suspect The Watch is trying to capture that.

I think Dan Harmon could pull off a great Ghostbusters reboot teamed with another writer. Hopefully news of the new writers leaks and we find out who they are.

Here's hoping Sigourney is NO WHERE near GB3 - she was one of the many problems with GB2 -

Well, maybe if she was a ghost, but that's about it...
