Screw that too. I think that would a lot worse.
Nah. Ghostbusters has kinda faded away from the public consciousness over the past decade or so. A lot of kids and teens today have never even seen it, let alone knowing who the four Ghostbusters are. They might know about Murray, but he won't be involved, and another of the actors has now passed. While we know the film will already be a passing of the torch kinda thing, the other two (Dan Aykroyd and...?) will just be awkwardly 'there' with only nostalgic 80's nerds recognising them. It's not like Star Wars Episode VII where you can bring back a bunch of old actors and everybody already knows who they are and loves those characters. That franchise is still relevant. Ghostbusters isn't.
With a reboot you have the opportunity to bring a classic into the modern world and make it fresh enough that everyone will love it. Get someone like James Gunn, Edgar Wright or Lord/Miller and it would be brilliant. Personally I don't mind either way, I haven't seen the original, but I think a clean reboot would be a lot better than an awkward, delayed sequel that only a tiny percentage of the audience would enjoy.
