Ghostbusters 3 - Part 2

This... wow. I'd go so far as to say that Harold Ramis is the first actor who I have a close fandom/association to has died. Many celebrities I know have died, even ones I've liked. But Harold is the first one who fell under an umbrella of ones that matter the most to me, all because he played Egon Spengler. This was so unexpected that I'm speechless... and that's never happened to me before.

If they did manage to get GB3 made, would I go see it? Absolutely. I'm a fan of the franchise. Doesn't seem likely given no Venkman AND no Egon, now.

But honestly, I think it's over with. I can't see Dan Aykroyd (the one person who's really pushing for GB3) wanting to continue on with it. I didn't think our chances of it getting made were that high anyway, but now I'd say it's finished. Not unless Bill is moved by Harold's passing and agrees to be in it completely, but fat chance.

See you on the other side, Egon.

I still don't know why the studio is having so much trouble with Ghostbusters 3 when movies like Robocop and countless others have been remade with ease (seemingly)....

The last Ghostbusters movie came out like 20 years ago... all the actors have moved on, or are very old, or have unfortunately and sadly passed away (RIP Ramis)...

Ghostbusters 3 should just show that the Ghostbusters are a franchise now spanning the entire country just like police departments and fire departments.

New Ghostbusters should be the focus in the movie... the old Ghostbusters could be mentioned as the founding fathers, mentors, or CEOs of the company (ex: Venkman, Stantz, Zeddemore, if they appear at all in cameos, can just be command staff for the Ghostbusters, like Chiefs of the Ghostbusters Department... they wear white shirts like command officers of police departments, and their roles are administrative)...

There's plenty of talented directors, writers, and actors out there to get Ghostbusters 3 off the ground...

I think Robert Downy Jr would be great in a Ghostbusters movie... I think he could be a good replacement for Venkman, with his talent for improv...

Also, Kevin Hart is huge right now... put him in Ghostbusters 3...

and I'm still a big Will Ferrel fan and think he deserves this too...

I'd like to see Terry Crews as a Ghostbuster.

Ghostbusters is my favorite comedy of all time, I love GB2 also... and a lot of the work that the cast has done (Groundhog Day, Analyze this, etc.)...

but I don't know why anyone would want to see a geriatric ghostbusters movie... would it be ghostbusting in a retirement home??? lol

I think they should just have a new cast, and honor the old cast by mentioning them, seeing them in photos or old footage, or cameos, but that's it...

Two things:

1) The actors/director have contractual rights on this franchise, hence the lack of a reboot.

2) Kevin Hart? Really.

RIP to Ramis. Very sad and shocking news.

I think a reboot would be a horrible idea... just make it Ghostbusters 3, a straight up sequel to GB2 but with a new cast.

If they remade Ghostbusters (meaning new actors in the Venkman, Stantz, etc. roles)... I would be royally annoyed...

I'm sad. I was just thinking of Ramis and Ghostbusters 3 over the weekend. :(

RIP Egon. When I was a kid, I was a bit of a science geek, so naturally Egon was my favorite Ghostbuster. Harold Ramis will be missed.

Terry Crews would be great in a Ghostbusters movie. I never thought of that before.

RIP Harold AKA Egon. Thanks to Bill Murray's unwilliness to do a third GhostBusters movie and the rest of the cast waiting around for him to say yes, one of the old ghostbusters has now died after waiting around for so long. So with this sad news, all our hopes for a third movie has died as well.

Ghostbusters is my favorite film of all time. I'd hoped GB3 would move forward, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. RIP Harold Ramis.

Man, this really hits me...

What really bugs me is there are *******s all over social media *****ing they now won't get a gb3 seriously like now is the time to demand a movie :(

I just went to Hook & Ladder 8 this last week when I was in the city, how eerie that a few days later Harold passes. I should really hope that this puts any ideas of a sequel to rest and it be honored that way.

RIP Harold you were one of the greatest comedic minds in the history of cinema.

I've always wanted GB3 but I think the game was as good as we'll get. It was amazing. Not SoS, that was garbage, the actual game.

A shame he's gone though, he did incredible work.

Remaking/rebooting Ghostbusters is easy, getting a sequel with the original cast is what's difficult.

i am so happy that they didnt make a bad sequel. can you imagine if the bad sequel was realesed in 2012 or 2013 and now he would die?

They should just do a new movie with one or two Ghostbusters training the new crew.

RIP Mr. Ramis. He was great as Egon and even better behind the camera.

I'll take this as a sign that a new GB movie shouldn't happen, at least not one featuring the old cast. No one wants to watch a fat Ray (Aykroyd is enormous now) and Winston running around chasing an old, fat Slimer. Bill Murray may have done us all a favor.

Yeah, a third film can't happen now.

A third film can happen, but quality-wise, I think we're out of luck. :csad:
