Ghostbusters 3 - Part 3

Well, the original concept, beyond the names and precise nature of the characters themselves is quirky scientist friends starting a business to catch ghosts because they're spectacular failures and jokes in their field. And then they end up unlikely heroes when the world is overrun by paranormal forces.

That's pretty compelling on its own.

Add quasi-futuristic ghostcatching equipment, a dash of horror, adventure, romance...

This would be my response. You ask me what my favorite part of Ghostbusters was and I'll say Ecto 1 and the equipment. I'll be pretty pissed if that element isn't grounded, somewhat, in what the originals were. For instance, disentigrating ghosts instead of capturing or throwing away the basic 'scientific' lingo. Add to it, if you want. The Ghostbuster Game used EMF. Just don't leave out core elements like we are with the core characters.

My favorite GB is Egon. I liked what I was hearing about his character going so far intellectually that he was detached from the real world in some of the scripts. But Ramos has passed and Egon cannot return. Do something new with the franchise and try to create some great new characters that may or may not be iconic someday, too.

Wasn't Egon detached from the real world pretty much from the word go in the franchise? :)

The ORIGINAL concept was a futuristic company with many stations in space

Which is why Murray's recent comments of Dan's Ghostbusters 3 scripts being out there aren't hard to believe. He would come up with these out there ideas and the rest of the team had to wrangle him in.

Nothing beats seeing the costume designs and what not and how they evolved. We got a very different movie than what was originally pitched.

I'd like Shane Black to direct but mainly cause I want a Christmas set Ghostbusters.

Not surprising, I remember hearing that when Dan Ackroyd wrote The Blues Brothers it was originally over 300 pages.

John Landis had to go over it with him and take some stuff out.

This reboot is such a terrible idea, IMO. Best to let this series rest in peace with the two films, the animated series and the video game (which is pretty much GB3 in game form as is).

Christmas and NYE both sort of occured in the second film at the same time.

I'm just not a fan of rebooting the series at all, but then I heard that Paul Feig is attached, and what he's planning on doing with it....I just can't help but roll my eyes. It's gonna be another ridiculously predictable comedy with McCarthy and Wig, and you're gonna see the beats of the story and the jokes coming a mile away. If it's anything like Bridesmaids, just prepare for one of the most predictable movies out there.

And what made Ghostbusters so good, wasn't exactly the premise of the movie, but of the heavy hitters who were involved with the project, and what they brought to the table. This reboot already sounds like another cookie cutter, paint by the numbers, comedy. I dunno, maybe I'll be wrong, but I think it's easy to see where this is going.

Yeah. And I think the whole idea worked better in the 80s/90s. Let Ghostbusters rest in peace:csad:

(Completely useless) fact: In my languague, "Feig" means cowardly. And Paul the cowardly wants to make a movie about ghosts. Hilarious.

What about a Samhain Halloween setting? One of my favorite episodes from The Real Ghostbusters.

Unless it gets at least 9/10 on IMDB I wont be watching it. Just as I din't watch Conan or Robocop.
Either continue a story or come up with a new idea.

Hope you enjoy it though.

Wow, you base your viewing choices on IMDB ratings.......

No I base my viewings on films I think I'll enjoy. But if a film that I've never heard of is getting good ratings I'll give it a go.

Considering the usual IMDB trolls, it'll never get that high so I'd maybe lower that score. I still hate this reboot idea, so much, but I guarantee other people will start with the 1s and 2s as soon as voting opens just because of what this film is.

I feel the all-female concept would be better off for another movie that's not GB but has heavy influences of it and can be something of a spirtual successor of sorts. Maybe even some of Dan Aykroyd's old GB3 ideas can be weaved into it. I just feel to take that concept and use it for a GB film wouldn't capture at all the same dynamic the original crew had.
