Ghostbusters 3 - Part 3

Not really. Honestly, the only thing we can really glean from what we know already is that if the film isn't good, it'll probably just be because it was mediocre and bland.

It's interesting that they also want to get Dinklage as the villain. The first couple had memorable villains but they also didn't really take up screen time. The focus was on the four. I just don't know how expanding the villain role, which I assume this reboot does since they want a name, can really benefit it.

I'm not bothered by the fact that they are gender swapping the Ghostbusters team. But I would really rather this be some form of sequel rather than a remake/reboot as I would love to see references to/about the original crew, Pete, Egon, Ray and Winston.

I do not have high hopes for this movie, but I'm not gonna hate it for the sake of hating. I'll reserve judgement until I see it for myself.

I like the idea they're going for, but i hope it's as much of a sequel to the originals as it is a reboot, they're not even repeating the same plot, with the use of some of the old cast, i think it's easy to make a rebrand to this franchise, instead of going into an all-out reboot.

As a huge fan of the original film, I have always thought it was best to create a new team with the original guys as sort of mentors. I never wanted a complete reboot. It should maintain connections with the previous films. A new threat comes to New York and Igon and Ray are forced to recruit guys from one of their classes. Maybe even add the kid Oscar from Ghostbuster 2.

As far as what they are working on now, not too excited about it really. But lets face it, reboots usually suck anyways. And even the idea I just mentioned probably would have failed too. As always we will just compare it to the classic and it will never live up to it no matter what the approach is.

After all the comments I here about wanting the old team to make way and prepare the new team, I want to see one thing happen in the movie. There needs to be a scene where Aykroyd has a cameo as someone leading the new Ghostbusters down a dark subway or creepy crypt. He lights a torch for some light and hands it to Wiig or one of these other girls. Problem solved?

i hope Dinklage stays far away from this movie

Considering he's doing Pixels, I don't know if he'll say no. He's an excellent actor, but he has no problems doing goofy roles either.

He's amazing on Game of Thrones. I don't think he would turn down a blockbuster role. He needs more roles to establish a film career outside GOT and this is a better opportunity than Pixels.

Considering the original Ghostbusters had a lot of memorable supporting characters it will be interesting to see if they can do the same thing with this film. Bill Murray would be really strange. I don't think they should do that. Unless a portal opens up near the end and he comes out as his Venkman character.

I don't mind the idea of them starting over with no connection to the 84/89 films. Especially considering that those themselves were the SECOND version of Ghostbusters to exist, with Akyroyd and Co. having get permission to use the name (though not the ghosthunter concept).

This film is simply continuing tradition. Even unintentionally.

Give us Dinklage!

It's going to be tough waiting for the first trailer. Or the first pic of the gear. What about the car?

The big issue I feel towards this production is that it feels like the cast has a higher priority to the story. If it had been a case where they found a good story and felt that an all female cast would fit it best I wouldn't have any issue, but instead it seems like they have decided the cast first and are then making a story to fit them. To me the story should always be the highest priority with everything else then picked to best fit that story.

Another issue I have is that the director apparently says that he hates that the characters in the originals just turn into janitors which shows that he doesn't know much about the originals since that was how Ramis and Aykroyd always planned it. Originally there wouldn't have even been an origin, they intended the film just to start the film with them already at the janitor stage.

They've been trying to get a story and script going for many years. There have been several drafts that have been turned down. How do we know they didn't finally find a story worth doing. I could be wrong but I don't think they just threw in the towel.

There are so many assumptions being made about a film that we know nothing about. I know, I know. That's what we do on the internet. Even still, Aykroyd says he's a fan and we assume he's been bought out (cuz it fits our view of the film where the other, more rational assumption that he's telling the truth, doesn't). It's all women and we assume it's just a gimmick, when we know, as well as Sony did, that Feig likes telling stories about funny women. That's what he said. That's his forte, whether you're a fan of it or not. They don't use the original characters and so we assume that means everything else we love about Ghostbusters can't happen and will be absent in the film. Never mind that the 'science' behind ghost catching from the first two films, games, and cartoons is just as important to the Ghostbusters mythology as Peter, Ray, Egon, and Winston. Why do we assume ghost wrangling and traps will be 100% different when they could be a big link to the films we know?

I'd really like to have some good speculation on the many boards discussing this, but instead of speculation is just extremes. Everyone needs to just hate on this movie and if you're anything ranging from optimistic to a fan of the new Ghostbusters you must surely hate the original Ghostbusters. But I don't fit into that. I'm the builder of prop proton packs, collector of anything Ghostbusters I can find and can honestly say that the films and cartoon (and later games and comics) have been an integral part of my childhood. But... I'm not in absolute terror of this film happening. Instead, I'm happy to see new life injected in a franchise that was running out of steam.

All of this talk of wanting it to connect to 'our' films and the old team passing the torch to the new one, but our biggest problem as fans is that we're so possessive of that torch that we don't want to hand it to a new generation, that the old films might not speak to, and let them choose to love or hate it.

At least someone gets it.

If there's anything wrong with them scrapping the old continuity, its that the gimmick of the new one (and yes, All Female Ghostbusters team is a gimmick) is more important than the story.

Let's be honest, this depends on your POV. If you hate the idea you're going to say it, if you're optimistic or a fan you'll think it's an intriguing idea for the franchise. Feig works well with women, that's no gimmick, but what he prefers for his storytelling and humor. He also has his preferred actresses like so many other directors in Hollywood. No one's surprised that he went this route as, to him and his fans, it is his strength.

I wonder if there's any chance of Sigourney Weaver appearing in this.

While it would be a little odd for a female version of the character to still call herself Batman, either way, like I said, I would be 100% behind a gender flipped Bruce Wayne.
Now for the question that no one is making..........
Are you on drugs?

And for a follow up question.......
Where can i get some?

The only thing i can say is that Social Justice Warriors/feminists are winning.
And by the look of it, the superhero genre is already theirs...

sad day for art the day art is meaningless and open to any change that someone feels like it because.....why not.

I don't give a **** about the gender swap, I don't care if the ghostbusters are male, female or even a bloody gorilla all I want is decent characters and a good level of humour

Sadly from what I have seen of this team and directors work I don't feel that what's going to happen and I hope I'm surprised

But sadly it seems that if your not behind this film 200% it's because you hate women, and I'm not going to lie there are small brained assshats with the mentality sadly it seems anyone who has a even remotely negative view I stared with the same brush

It seems to be happening a lot in geek fan community's now there is no middle ground you must be behind something full force or nothing.

I would welcome a gender swapped superhero. Just to piss fanboys off.
