I don't think that's a bad thing. Temple of Doom dared to be different and I think it succeeded it. I prefer it over Kingdom anyway. I think most people would. Unless they're insane.

I like Temple better than Crusade. At least it's fresh. Crusade is good but essentially just a rehash of Raiders.

I really dislike Ghostbusters 2 though.

Crusade is the sitcom version of Raiders.

Even then, it really shows how we all miss the old Harrison Ford, who was capable of being roguish, an intellectual, and funny while still being heroic. That Ford died after Air Force One. Plus it was my introduction to Sean Connery, in whom I still had no idea was the Bond originator until much later in the 90's.

I think I'll attribute part of my love for Crusade to it being the only one I saw in theaters.

If they change their mind and end up making it in the same universe, I don't care how different it is, I'll be looking forward to it. Would I prefer to have it show Stantz and Zeddemore passing the torch? Well, yes. But even if I don't get that, having it be a furtherence of the universe I'm already invested in, than I'll be happier.

As it is, if it's a reboot, I'll wait for Netflix.

I remember in the cartoon opening he's a giant ghost and just likes to chill inside the sign. I would assume he's a friendly ghost that would wipe out the team if he were to turn against them. It makes you wonder where the characters got the inspiration. That being said , it's a brilliant logo and probably my favorite next to the bat symbol.

At least this is not an outright remake. I liked Bridesmaids a lot, I like McCarthy, Wiig is cool. So we will see. I do think using the name/branding and stuff is kinda skeevy tho.

There are a lot of rehashes and reboots, that's my only issue. And when we do get something kinda original we don't support it.

I don't agree with that because the studios aren't showing the same level of support and pumping out the same advertising campaigns they do for established brands. If the audience isn't aware about the film then how can we possible throw our full weight behind it?

This new Ghostbusters reboot is like calling project: almanac the goonies reboot.

Spoilerish comparisons

motley crew of kids are in danger of losing their house (due to university fee's), they find a clue in the attic when their mum is out, from their dad that would be the Mcguffin.

It leads them on a modern adventure where the geeky kid gets the girl, the chubby kid money and fame beyond their wildest wishes and where bad things can be wiped away.

My point is, sure it has elements of the goonies, the goonies name, but this is not the goonies.

I wish we'd had Ghostbusters 3, but I gave up hoping for it many years ago. I personally don't need to see another Ghostbusters, but I can't blame them for wanting to do something with this property. For people who didn't grow up with the originals, maybe this casting news is exciting or infuriating, but I don't feel anything.

In the past, some people here have come up with great casting ideas, but I always felt that no matter what, they would be trying to imitate or recreate something that was truly unique. So, in that sense, I'm sort of relieved that this project appears to be taking a different approach, and I hope it works out.

The other day I was talking to a friend and mentioned that Robocop was on Nerflix this month. He said "Don't watch it, it's horrible!" I said "What are you talking about? It one of the best movies of the 80s!" And he goes "Oh I thought you meant the reboot."

And that's why you can't reboot Ghostbusters.

I would actually have a lot more respect for this 'project' if it had nothing to do with the GB franchise, maybe call it 'bump in the night' or 'spooksville' or maybe even 'all hallows eve' and there could be a scene where Melissa McCarthy goes 'hey, we're just like the Ghostbusters now...' and one of the others say, nah... 'we don't have *****'..

At least it admits it homage/respect to original rather than retrying to rehash it

All you got to do is look at the 'Spy' trailer and that says it all.

I liked in the description on the front page where Feig said he wanted it to be scarier. Honestly, it'd be fresh if this was not only a juxtaposition of genres like the original film, but dares to dig a bit deeper in the horror.

I just remembered Trump was in the bobby brown music video for Ghostbusters 2. Then I watched that video and remembered how much I miss the old Ghostbusters. I'd kill for all of them to be in this.
