The whole narrative of this film, and its family legacy is lovely. I'd be so happy to see it succeed.

I replayed the game during lockdown myself. Still fun. It was good enough that I was sad it wasn't a full-fledged remake.

Yeah it is and true but still a decent remaster. I just hope they finally add multiplayer! They had removed the original mode to do something new from scratch and promised to add it later on but there haven't been any news update on that since October.

Say what you want about games with an online multiplayer option but a Ghostbusters game is perfect for co-op. I had the original game on PS3 and it was fun playing with people online as Ghostbusters

I think they have low-key scrapped that tbh. The devs seemed much more eager to talk about it before the game came out than after. Shame, cause as you said, co-op busting is fun.

I hope I can watch this one and it be a natural progression from the original two and not ruin those movies. Thats all I ask.

This is an unreleased teaser trailer for Ghostbusters II and it's pretty great! Too bad it was never released. It's basically the whole commercial the Ghostbusters made that was only glimpsed at in the film.

Wow, that commercial for a teaser was more clever and funny than the actual movie. Ironically the commercial is more true to the idea of Ghostbusters. Ghostbusters is comedy about running a business, not a movie about fighting ghosts.

The shot of Venkman continuing to the other camera is genius.

Also, why wasn't Annie Potts given more? She deserves a leading comedy franchise or something...

...what?

Why are people saying these kinda things about GB? I remember even when GB16 came out there was a faction of people arguing that Ghostbusters isn't even a comedy, it's a horror film.
The whole running a business stuff is for sure a big part of the film, but it also is a movie about fighting ghosts.

It's a supernatural/horror comedy where a lot of the plot and/or humor is about busting ghosts and running a business. And I think most would say that the ghost busting is more important to the franchise identity than the running a business. When people play Ghostbusters they aren't acting out running a business.

I agree, they're not horror films. That's different than what is in the film as the ghost stuff is played totally straight and threatening.

The fighting of the ghosts is a big part, but that's there to service the framework of the movie which is about running a business. People tend to focus more on the action and supernatural and world building aspects of these movies. It's a movie about four schlubs who decide to start a business to hunt ghosts. The execution of the movies treats them like they're exterminators. They're not action heroes.

Ok, but the hunting of ghosts is still what the movie is about. It's the whole premise. The whole plot was kickstarted because they were paranormal scientists and only turned it into a business when they were fired.
I'm not saying the whole four schlubs starting a business isn't important. But saying it's not a movie about the...ghost busting is just off. I think both are important. But it's clear that the ghost busting in Ghostbusters is more important to the franchise as it's its whole identity.

Oh, sure, I just think the ghost busting itself tends to get over emphasized and be THE thing that it's about in the eyes of people. It's like how people just focus on the lightsabers and space ships and mythology in SW. That, like the ghost stuff is the frosting, but I think the real narrative is the starting of the business. Like how SW is a story/narrative about the hero's journey. You can't have one without the other of course, both are what makes it special. Maybe we still disagree, but that's my stance.

God I love the theme song so much. I really hope the new movie actually uses it in a meaningful way.

Not big news, but Paul Rudd in a recent podcast said Jason Reitman sent him a link and he saw the movie.

Obviously he’s not going to say it’s bad but did he give any specifics?

Now March of next year, I think, assuming it doesn't get delayed again.

Eh doesn't mean much.
But I do like how they're evolving the franchise. Even if it's a bit derivative of other works, it's cool (at least from what I've seen so far) that they aren't just doing the same thing of scientists in NYC starting a company hunting ghosts.

If you're gonna make a reboot/requel you should at least do somethign idfferent with the franchise.

And they have a good cast so that's always good

Sony Pictures said they aren't going to release any big movies until the pandemic is over and everything is reopened.

My God, the time when Rick Moranis shows his face, not in a movie, but a commercial, THIS happens? Well, time for Moranis to disappear for another twenty-five years. It was nice seeing you in that commercial Rick!
