It's interesting how Super 8 was basically the first of the current era of nostalgic "kids have an adventure" genre and it's basically been forgotten. It's so underrated.
I love all my children equally. Okay, that's not true. Ghostbusters has Phoebe, and I'd kill to protect that child.

This article is dumb. It’s trying to compare the Halloween box set to this one as a reason why the reboot should be included, even though it’s not canon.

It's also ridiculous to exclude 2016's "Ghostbusters" under the guise of protecting the "canon" considering "Ghostbusters II" isn't really a part of the "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" story at all, whatsoever. Cool, Ray's Occult Book Store makes an appearance, but there's no reference to the Statue of Liberty coming to life or the friggin' Titanic sailing into the New York harbor, both events that should have come with as much news attention in the world of "Afterlife" as Gozer and the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man. If the argument on excluding 2016 is centered on canon, it's an argument dripping in weak sauce.

Except Reitman has gone on record and saying GB2 is canon. And it features Ray’s Occult, as it points out.

The Ghostbusters Ultimate Gift Set Doesn't Include Ghostbusters 2016 And That's A Huge Problem

This is very, very stupid. The movie with the little girl as the main character, was made to placate man babies who didn't like 2016. Really? Ghostbusters 2 is canon. It's made clear. But even if it wasn't, the point is it isn't the same set of Ghostbusters. The 2016 film, which I like, has nothing to do with the rest. If you want the 2016 film, you can have the 2016 film. It's not unavailable. I have a steel book for it.

It's not in the same boxset for the same reason The Dark Knight Trilogy boxset doesn't include the Burton/Schumacher films and vice versa. Two completely different continuities. It's unfortunate that Fieg and fans are taking this as salt in the wound that the Feig movie didn't spawn multiple films to warrant its own boxset, and I sympathize. But I think this is a non-story. Not any kind of intentional shade being thrown. Just from a sheer marketing standpoint, it makes sense to highlight the legacy element of the 3 films from Reitman and son.

And believe me, if ever down the line they do some type of Ghostbusters multiverse story to tie it all in, I am sure Sony would be more than happy to double dip and do another boxset with all the films.

Feigs comments and that type of articles are a gift that keeps giving :D

Good to know that the 2016 film isnt included. Now I am considering buying that trilogy box set.

Feig is so dumb. Including the 2016 movie into the set coming out is like including Schumacher’s Batman movies into the TDK trilogy set. The film is not part of the same universe/continuity

Plus, I’m sure Sony is trying to forget the 2016 movie ever happened and I can’t blame them

Super 8's first two acts are great but the third one is absolutely awful.

I mean the bigger problem to me with the Ultimate Box Set is they left out The Real Ghostbusters. :argh:

that show features all 4 OG's, and the movies are even part of the continuity. Not to mention Extreme Ghostbusters.

Ultimate Collection indeed *pfft*

The real story of the boxset is the new extras included, most notably more deleted scenes from the originals. We might finally see Eugine Levy as Sherman Tully.

I just watched this. It was fine. 2nd best Ghostbusters film they made, but I don't think it was amazing. Just a pretty fun movie. Which is fine for a Ghostbusters movie.

I just watched this tonight and I loved it. I have zero issues with Afterlife having a different tone the the first two movies. I even considered watching the movie again after a short break I liked it so much.

Why wasn't Evolution included... that's more ghostbusters than anything feig dished out.

Sadly, the article is poor click bait by someone that should know better..

When I watch the originals, it's a let down.... why, my mind has told me these movies are something they are not - for good, or bad...

I with I could watch them again, for the first time, but as an adult...

bought the 3 pack that came with all 3 movies on blu ray the other day have not had a chance to watch any of them maybe later this weekend I will have a marathon.

YEP, this one stands up to repeat viewings. Phoebe and Podcast are great, and that finale is gonna get me every time.

I'll wait and see if they release a steelbook for this that matches the artwork for previous releases I bought. Really like those, 2016 got one, it'd be cool to see an Afterlife version done in that style. Not felt a strong urge to pick this up otherwise. Really loved the first 2/3, but the last 1/3 doesn't land for me. I have hope there's something interesting in the future cause it's such a fun concept, but with a nagging fear that Sony are going to be Sony, we'll get stuck in nostalgia, probably with some awful deepfake flashbacks and such.
