Kitty was the main character in the original Dofp comic. she is being shortchanged as it is already. She shouldn't have less importance and relevance to the script as Rogue a character who did not appear in the original comic.

they could open a door and react shocked to something they see then it cuts there, then later they arrive back at temple with rogue, audience can put the clue together that they see rogue

yeah actually, I could see that, and I personally wouldn't mind. I mean of course as a fan that has been following twitter and behind the scenes, would know what Rogue's original story was suppose to be and pick up that something is off. But for other audience that have had no idea of the whole Rogue/cut/not cut/cameo scenario wouldnt make it a big deal, it would be like a surprise appearance. She gets to the temple Xavier can explain to Kitty why Rogue is at the temple and take it form there . . .

Yeah, but what are the chances of coming across Rogue in an abandoned temple in northern China/Mongolia? That's lazy on Kinberg's part.

In my opinion, and I'm no screenwriter, I wish that Magneto and Iceman purposely went to NY to rescue Rogue. Perhaps Kitty gets injured earlier on, and as a safety precaution incase Kitty doesn't survive, Xavier uses the "mobile" cerebro to track down the only power-siphoning mutant he knows...so he sends Iceman and Magneto to rescue her. That is a legitimate reason to include her into the fold.

Then again, some people said her part felt forced in the script...so who knows.

In my opinion, they should have just included her in the first act with the X-Men in that abandoned temple. Its better if she just stood there for the 2/3 of the movie, than suddenly appearing in the last act.

As frustrating as not knowing is, I think Singer has played it pretty smart downplaying Rogue's role. No-one is going to complain that her role is small now, they'll be happy to see her at all if she appears.

Singer's said conflicting and ambiguous things. It sounds like she's there in some fashion but whether it's just a reference or cameo, or something more substantive, we don't know.

Part of the problem might be that Singer can be really difficult to quote properly. I've tried to make transcripts of the SDCC panels and he is literally the worst. I think it's a combination of the above and a genuine desire to be secretive about her.

No, but I can think of a movie where a character that was said to be out of the movie got a magazine cover: X-Men: Days of Future Past.

It was nice of them to throw a bone at the fans since she will have a cameo or mention in the movie. That cover was likely shot months before it was published, so why waste it? But call me when materials such as posters, pringles cans (i saw one with professor X and Blink), cardboard cut outs, and EW covers showing her image on start making the rounds. They did not even put her on the website and that is easy to do. Also add including her on the press junkets that will start next month to promote the movie. When I see her on any of that I will believe that she has a significant role to play, otherwise I am going to listen and watch watch Singer/Fox has to say about her part being reduced.

Singer tried to soften the blow, but I guess it did not take.

I'm pretty sure all the endless overanalyzing and speculation about Rogue's role in this movie has sucked all the joy out of any role Rogue will have in the movie.

I guess people don't care if this movie gets poor reviews as long as Rogue is somehow forced into it. Because bad reviews are what it will get with that kind of lazy/poor writing. It reminds me of that Ebert (RIP) wrote about insulting the audience. While we are at it, let have that the Dark Phoenix had Jean Gray on ice this whole time (off camera) and she pops up at the last minute to save the day! I know this is a CBM, but this is not Transformers where you can have a crappy/no plot and people will still see it. They are finally starting to recover from the madness that was X-3 and you want them put them back in the same spot with hack writing? If Rogue is coming in a meaningful way that makes sense fine, but if not, shoving her in as a plot device will make the general audience hate her even more. Who is going to gamble $250 million on that?

I would even give this popping out of nowhere business a pass if she was one of those very, very, very rare characters/actresses that people just go crazy for no matter what they say or do. But those people are almost once in a lifetime.

Anyways, I wouldn't expect anything Rogue-related from those 2 tonight. This event is about AIDS work, so I'd be almost a little disheartened to hear talk about something as inconsequential as Rogue in DOFP (even though I want her to have an amazing role - let's put things in perspective here)

Oscars would be cool though...I'm sure X-Men will get a mention in the tribute, especially with 2 Oscar nominees in the running this year (Fassbender and Lawrence)
