Glee Episode V: The Sylvester Strikes Back - - - - Part 13

I could see Naya being good in a crime or suspense show, in the style of Bones or Fringe (or the next Rizzoli and Isles for that matter).

So Will suspended Marley for refusing to wear a shell bikini...

Pedo! Will and terrible teacher all at once.

God, if this show was a person, I'd punch it in the face so hard.

Strike that. This show is a person. I'm going to punch Ryan Murphy in the face.

And I can't take Sam or any of his relationships seriously anymore.

I can't even argue with Sue Sylvester's rants against this club anymore. They're awful. Their ideas are awful. The things they care about are awful. All so... awful.

The New York side was alright. The McKinley side was so much of a hot mess that I can't even.

Yeah, I've been resisting the "set the whole show in NY" argument, but after tonight, I'm starting to think it's the only thing that might actually make this show's final two seasons watchable.

I thought NY was crap, Adam Lambert was a snooze fest.

If NY was crap, what does that make Lima?

Watching it now and O.M.G. can this be any worse? I think this was latterly the most awful opening EVER. Glee should be ASHAMED of themselves. I wish that FOX would've stepped in and got rid of just about everyone bts and bring people in who actually care for this show and who can write.

Whoever wrote this should be fired. It was that bad.

I'd rather watch the Lea-Colfer-Naya triumvirate in NYC any day over Jarley or Unique.

First this hot mess, then next episode about twerking, then a "lost" Christmas episode shoehorned in for no reason than Murphy wants a Christmas album to sell....these next few episodes sound absolutely ridiculous, and not in a good way.

That's the most frustrating part. This show has so much more potential than it even tries to reach anymore.

Also, between overseeing music numbers with his students almost naked, suspending a girl because she refuses to wear a shell bikini, and twerking with his students, has Will reached a whole new nadir of teaching?

Seriously, in what universe is any of this remotely appropriate? I know Glee plays fast and loose with reality, but come on. He'd be fired for this.

Some more thoughts (watching the whole thing now):

- Will's suspension of Marley for not wearing a shell bikini was wildly over-the-top. Yea, maybe she didn't go along with the team assignment, but his kids do worse stuff than that every single day while he does absolutely nothing about it.

- When is Chord going to cut his hair, for the love of God...

- I can't even with Blaine in drag (or whatever you'd call it). What the...? I skipped that number and the McKinley parts of Roar at the end. I can't even watch that mess.

- I ship Marley with Ryder (who hasn't had lines in how long?) over Jake. Jake needs a girlfriend who will put out. They're not compatible.

- Even with a wackjob like Sue as Principal, there is no way ANYTHING in this episode would fly in a school.

I don't object to a crack episode now and then. Dynamic Duets was total crack, and I thought it was one of the most fun episodes of Season 4. This was just....a hot mess that had NO idea what it was doing.

Glee at least managed to beat its lead in X Factor yesterday.

I'm not up with current pop music at all, is Katy Perry considered a "safe, girl next door" star?

That whole concept of people being so black & white was just pathetic and the Jake and Marley stuff was ludicrously forced.

The New York stuff was a bit better although it was hilarious that Kurt had session musicians and all of them just knew exactly what number Starchild was going to sing. :D

Elliot may be a good character addition, it's obviously too early to tell, but was Kurt worried that he was attracted to him? I hope not as more drama with him and Blaine over cheating will be boring.

It's like the writers want to see how inappropriate they can make Will. Plus Glee is a club, I don't think you can suspend someone from school because they didn't do something asked of them in a hobby.

I also don't see why Marley couldn't find a middle ground Gaga outfit instead of showing up not only in the wrong gear but dressed as Katy Perry, just so stupid.

Also, what the hell does being "a Gaga or a Katy" even mean?

Being an edgy attention-****e or being an offbeat, but still seemingly sweet.... attention ****e. :o

It seemed to me that they presented it as edgy and sexual vs sweet, safe and conservative, which is why I asked the question about Katy Perry.

Katy Perry is more Sugary and sweet in her performances/outfits while Gaga is more over the top and "edgy" with her performances/outfits.

I am interested in seeing this "lost Christmas episode" and what ridiculous reason they are going to make up for it.

I would have agreed with you last season, but the guest stars there this season make it extremely annoying.
