Musical Glee Episode V: The Sylvester Strikes Back - - - - - - Part 15

Well if Glee was still on you know it'd be mocking Trump.

Well the thing about the latter seasons of Glee is that most of the characters would hate him, but then Sue or someone would be all for him and it wouldn't make a goddamn lick of sense in the world why someone with a sister and a daughter with down syndrome would stand for a guy who blatantly mocked the disabled, but you know... Glee. :o

Naya is returning to acting on Youtube...she'll star in a "tv" version of Step It Up

The six people who end up watching that will have to tell me how it is.

I don't want to speculate wildly, but with showrunner sexual harassment/assault stories coming to light now, I'm really wondering if we'll hear anything about Glee.

Everything BTS after like season one or two seemed so fraught with tension, I really wonder if something could've happened.

Or maybe I'm just letting the whole Salling thing paint the show as being more predatory than it really was in my mind. I don't know...

Just read that Naya was arrested yesterday for domestic abuse of her husband.

Sad what is happening to some members of the cast.

Not surprised by Salling though

I'm sure his old Glee cast mates have mixed emotions about that whole situation, but it's kind of hard to care that much about Salling himself.

It's gotta be a weird situation for them. On the one hand, they worked with him for six years and probably had some good times together. On the other... doing what he did, they're probably not going to want to advertise any grief they might be feeling like when Cory died.

It's just wild, though. The show isn't even a decade old and already two castmembers are gone.

yeah this didn't shock me at all... as far as i'm concerned he's a coward.. not for suicide, but for the fact of what he did, what he was sentenced too.. and then took the easy way out so he didn't have to cope with what he did.

he will not be missed by me. Tragic sad story.. but one he could have had control over.

I won’t mourn him whatsoever. He’s a pedophile and I have no compassion for him, whatever excuses are made. That said, I will in no way celebrate this. He still had a family and friends that have to deal with all this and my compassion goes out to them and hope everyone else, victims included, find peace.

Some of the cast have commented on his passing and of course people are calling them out for it.

It’s a complex situation. This just came out and then he kills himself. I can’t imagine what they’re feeling. I sympathize with their mourning and those who criticize them because, in their eyes, they’re siding with a predator. I truly believe my way of dealing with this is the best course of action.

They should have the right to their own feelings about their cast mate. The sense of fan entitlement online is such, people act like they need their permission or something.

I think we sometimes forget people are human. Not that I ever watched this show, but when it comes to people in general mourning someone who did something wrong, they knew that person PERSONALLY. Fans only know the character or the actor as a spectator. But, when you work with someone and grow a fondness for them over your interactions with them, that is different. There is a level of conflict, denial, etc. people who actually know that person will feel. This does not make them bad people for feeling that way. It makes them human.

You can know someone did something very wrong and still care about them without condoning what they did.

I want to agree but I guess it depends on the person. I can’t find it in my heart to care about Weinstein or Nassar.

You don't have to, but someone like Nassar's mother may see the situation differently. Again, context is important.

I don't want to be misquoted. I am saying what you all are saying. I completely understand the cast's tweets. I'm sure he was a good friend to them regardless. I just disagree with them saying we should feel compassion for him and using the "cast stones" saying to force that in. At least for me, we should judge them for their actions if they're that wrong. We've all done bad things in our lives but some are worse than others and there's a spectrum. And context or not, it's still wrong. I may sympathize, whatever it may be, but I can't let him off the hook. I know the cast have acknowledge what he did but people have the right to not mourn for said person.

As I stated earlier, my compassion is for those who knew him. One for this reveal and also for their hurt over his suicide. I don't want to be forced to mourn him but I won't celebrate his death, out of respect for his loved ones. I'm sure I'm absolutely wrong for this but this is my opinion. This is a terribly complex situation so I don't know how to respond to this.
