Glee Episode V: The Sylvester Strikes Back

Honestly before the dirty looks, I though they weren't trying to be mean with a prank, I just thought they were annoyed by all of the girls.

Eric Stoltz did a good job directing the episode, it did remind me of the 80's teen movies with proms.

Im just going to think that it was just a couple of students who rigged it (like whats his name, the black football player/Karofskys pal)

And what was up with them trying to make Mercedes/Rachel look poor? Or were they just acting like that to make Sam feel better? Because do their parents not support them going to prom? Both sets who we really need to be introduced to anyway. Im sure Rachels dads would be excitited for her.

There's this thing on tv and in movies where a guy HAS to ask the girl and he HAS to pay for everything.

It's a little weird that the only parents we've seen are Finn's, Kurt's, Quinn's, and Puck's. Rachel talks about her dads way too much for us not to have seen them. We don't know why exactly Tina has a hyphenated Hebrew/Chinese name.

Good episode overall. The songs were all well-done, even "Friday" (energetic performance).

Rachel should totally have *****-slapped Quinn back. I'm so sick of her getting coddled even though she's an awful person who has no real problems.

Santana kept the one-liners coming, and we got another good scene between her and Brit-Brit. Speaking of Brittany, she was awesome this episode: from smartly resisting Artie's proposal to confidently explaining how she planned to steal everyone's dates anyway to giving good advice.

What puzzles me even more is that nobody laughed at his expense when he won. Even the kids at Carrie's prom laughed hysterically shortly before getting killed.

We heard a couple people clap and whistle. A couple students could have gotten together and rigged it.

IKR? Even at the benefit concert, the only people who came were Kurt and Blaine? No one's parents, not even Burt and Carole (where is she always at, anyway?).

I agree we should have seen Rachel's dads by now.

I thought Victor Garber would be in more than one episode.

I'd like to see Queen Latifah guest star as Mercedes' mom and Jennifer Lopez as Santana's mom.

And I'd like to eventually get an interaction between Burt and Blaine's dad.

Only his mom. She was in a scene back in season one, in the episode that Puck and Rachel were together.

Didn't care for the music in this episode but I thought the scene where Karofsky apologised at a very real rawness to it.

I admit the bit where Kurt got voted prom queen made me feel very ignorant.

Teenage pregnancy, an awful, judgmental father who threw her out, and the only thing she has is her high school "status", I think she's insecure and that has shaped her *****y survival streak.

We heard a couple people clap and whistle. A couple students could have gotten together and rigged it.

When the hands clapping in the background appeared I expected a reveal.

When Kurt was voted Prom Queen, my first reaction was "Awww, that's effed up." Then when Kurt & Dave stepped out on the dance floor and "Dancing Queen" started playing, I nearly fell out of my chair from pure laughter.

Even the looks on Mercedes' and Santana's faces when they started the opening notes sealed it for me they were so hilarious.

Well, at least we know Dave genuinely feels sorry for what he did to Kurt. Like I said a couple episodes back, Santana's fury yields results.

And it's that scene that makes me think that we will get at least a suicide attempt storyline with Karofsky before the season is over. He's so screwed up with everything he may think that violence is the only way to end it.

Anybody else notice the lack of Will this week?

Yeah, and did anyone else roll their eyes hard at one of his few contributions? When he said, "We're three weeks away from Nationals and we've got so many rehearsals to do." I literally said out loud, "Who the **** are you kidding? You'll pull something out of your collective ass the day of the show like you always do."

I actually expected Kurt to win Prom Queen, and I actually expected him to love and embrace it. ...I was half-right. :p

Pretty much.

I've noticed a significant amount of Rachel/Sam stuff in the past two episodes... could the writers be setting something up? I wouldn't hate it.... in fact, I'd get a great amount of pleasure ending the season with Finn begging Rachel to get back together with him after Nationals, saying that getting together with Quinn again was a huge mistake, Rachel telling Finn to **** himself and then running off hand-in-hand with Sam as Finn's infantile mind tries to comprehend what's just happened.

Something to note from Jacob's interview with Puck toward the beginning of the episode: Jacob said Puck was nominated for Junior Prom King.

Apparently every character on this show was a freaking Sophomore last season.

Given that they were all attending junior prom, that would make sense (plus, basic cast economics; they'll want to keep the group a group through season three).

Based on what I've gathered, I think Kurt is singing "Pure Imagination" next week and Finn is doing the song "Some People" by Ocean Drive (because Cory Monteith tweeted a while ago about how "Swedish people do great music", which a lot of people assumed meant he was doing ABBA, but obviously that isn't the case).

Oh! Lord! Jesus! No!

Sam has already dated Quinn. The last thing this dude needs is to become the guy who picks up Finn's sloppy seconds. Let Rachel stay single or Finn & Rachel can get their Ross/Rachel on by dating again for another 2 weeks.

Sam can stay with Mercedes.

If I see Rachel take Finn back (or, even worse, vice versa) I will vomit.

We all know they're going to get back together. Rachel has done nothing but beg Finn to take her back for weeks now, and Finn is doing his whole "I'm dating Quinn but I'm constantly staring at Rachel and giving her supportive advice" thing from season 1.

With the way Rachel is chasing after Finn like a lovesick puppy, she'd wet herself if Finn took her back. Quite frankly, I don't care if any of those three are happy anymore. Rachel needs to grow up and move on, Quinn needs to get her priorities straight if her worst problems are her popularity, and Finn is a giant HYPOCRITE who never thinks he does anything wrong but throws a giant hissy fit whenever he even thinks someone is doing the exact same thing to him.

I'd also like to point out that the only reason they broke up was because Rachel made out with Puck in a desperate attempt to make Finn jealous.

Because, you see, in Rachel's world, making out with your boyfriend's former best friend (who knocked up his previous girlfriend, mind you) can only strengthen a relationship.

Yeah, I felt a bit of *****e for not realizing how he'd perceive it.

And then he immediately ran into the loving arms of the chick that cheated on him and got pregnant with his best friend's baby, stealing her from his teammate and friend.

I never said Finn wasn't an a-hole. I'm just saying there's no reason that a-hole shouldn't be with that self-involved drama queen Rachel.
