I've got a question for all the Hypsters who believe in God; (non-believers wouldn't care so their opinion would just be for laughs ). And I'm beggin you guys and gals, don't turn this into a bashing thread about who believes or not or what you believe, etc. Do your boy Spoons a favor and keep it civil, please:heart:

Ok, the Bible is a book and books can be edited. Let's just get that out of the way. Assume that God was/is a maternal figure as opposed to "The Father". Maybe the switching of that detail was made for some reason thousands of years ago by some sexist or whatever. If you were to get some kind of confirmation that God is a Her instead of a Him; would it weird you out or would you be able to shrug off the change and keep on believing?

I never thought of God as gender specific.

I always assumed that God was....

I dont think god is female because he would'nt have made such a painful process like giving birth for woman to go through. lmao:)

srsly tho, I wouldn't care< I'd continue believing.

I always took it that God is supposed to be male. Doesn't the bible say that man was created in his image. Of course, this is open to interpretation.

God the father, not mother, so I say male, makes sense to me.

Yeah, I know that's what it says now but the Bible has been copied soooo many times that a simple change like that would be pretty easy to make. I'm asking you guys to entertain the idea that you find out God is a female entity

Well I always thought of Man too but don't forget theres also Goddess... :o

Mmm Goddess

I think in general we associate physicality with the spiritual world in order to give it more meaning. Obviously G-d is not a he or she, but He is referenced as such for our benefit.

For added emphasis

Personally I dont believe in creationism but i do believe in a higher power. You can all God if you want.

I also believe that gender is a mental state not biological. Sex is biological.I suppose the question could be asked either way. Is God female or maternal?

To my point, i dont think the supreme being is gender/sex specific. Sexes were made so that people can also create life, since the supreme being doesnt need sex, so gender/sex is useless. And gender was human creation

For some reason, if God were a woman it wouldn't surprise me

If there is a god, there it absolutely has to be a man. No doubt.
